    Awesome tips mate, I'm setting up my patrol to head to WA from SEQ an slowly aquire entry level tickets/cards to start at the bottom of what ever position I land and eventually work out what an how I can work my way up the ladder. Your videos have given me a good idea on what to expect and the confidence to give it go, much appreciated mate 👍🤙

    Hey Mr Keith, hope you are well.
    So i am currently studying with an African Mining Institution, Zimbabwe School of Mines, in Zimbabwe (Africa), im training and studying to be a Mining technician with modules such as Drilling,Explosive and blasting, Underground Mining etc, after graduation with this Institution we usually undergo what is called a GRADUATE TRAINEESHIP with various mines as Junior or graduate Miners, on the road to become a Miner.
    However, mining in Africa is somewhat primitive and we can only be highly efficient in Zimbabwean mines because we have exposure to them, we do Airleg Jackhammer drilling for instance, very few people have knowledge on drill rigs. So, with that being said, after graduation is it possible for me to come to Australia and acquire a job (that will offer a salary) that will train me to be efficient in the mines that side, and will my Diploma in Mining Certificate be recognised?

    • @allan__macdonald
      @allan__macdonald ปีที่แล้ว +2

      And also, ( I hope you pardon my discretion), Is the mining industry in Australia welcoming or facilitative to Black workers, I'm feeling comfortable to ask you because I believe you are a nice lad. And hopefully you might help me.

    • @Keithy_W
      @Keithy_W  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      G’day mate, thanks for shouting out! You ask a great question. It sounds like what you’re doing is very similar to a Mining Engineer/Mine Captain role. It’s a role that not many can achieve. It requires patience and determination to finish all of the modules and skills, in order to complete.
      I can’t be certain, but I do believe that the majority of what you’re doing will be recognised immediately here. Some may be experience tested, and some may even require a little further training/time. This is a question you’ll definitely need to put towards an employer. Great question mate 👍🏻
      As for your second question - racism is not tolerated in Australia. You are equally as welcome to any job provided you have the skills or qualifications to do the job. It doesn’t matter what race or colour you are - skills, sex and experience is blind when it comes to employing a person.

    Hey mate, I'm in Rockhampton, I'm 22, have no formal education or trade but I want to get into the mines. I've done precast + prestressed concrete, concrete kerbing and guttering, scaffolding, some basic metal fab, have a small amount of experience running a big slipform machine. Really I've done a little bit of alot of things. I'm very mechanically minded. I plan on getting my std 11 very soon. What sort of jobs would you recommend I chase?

    Hello Keithy , your video is insightful and full of useful information.
    I would like to know if anyone with civil engineering or construction background can fit into a mining setup or get a job and find a role in a mining company/ mining area??

    • @Keithy_W
      @Keithy_W  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks mate, much appreciated 👍🏻
      Your skills in civil will still help when applying for a job, although the trades are different between mining and civil, so the skills from civil won’t line up with the trades in the mine exactly. There will be a complete new apprenticeship with recognition of prior learning if you were to go that way.

    Watched a good few of your vids now (Great insight) but got no answer, I'm going to emigrate from Ireland to WA, (Perth) .
    I have plans to work and make a life over there, is it any harder for a foreigner to get down the hole? Or work in general?
    Iv heard that some roles underground are only for Australian citizens? Is that true?
    Ireland has no mining industry so I am in construction as that's the closest I can get to experience with heavy machinery.

    • @Keithy_W
      @Keithy_W  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for messaging mate. I appreciate the info is sparse on emigrating - particularly from me as I’m not too cluey on the in’s and out’s of emigration.
      What I will say though, if you’re living in Australia and are legally allowed to work in Australia, you are equally as capable to get a job in the mines here. No role is specifically for Auzzies - a worker is a worker regardless of country of origin, race, religion, sex or hair colour.

    sir I have some question
    1 :Should it be Australian mining engineering certificate or the mining certificate can be from any country
    2 : and how Should I apply for job(any job )in mining site. like every mining site requires with 2 or 2+ Yr but if I come from India with just mining engineering certificate and without experience so how I can get a job.

      You won't. Get experience in your own country first.
