I've been a TSG member for several years and I can say without a doubt that the knuckle dragger drill was one of the more pivotal drills in the program for me. Really good stuff.
Just real quick. I have been practicing this for a couple of days. I went to the course today, and I kid you not, according to the 18 birdies app, my drives were 30 yards longer on average. I just wanted to give a sincere thank you for these videos. You definitely have a new subscriber.
Thank you! As an beginner who has just managed to barely get weight shift right this is really easy to understand and do as the next step. You are a great coach! Question, how do you start the swing from the waist height starting stance?
Tried this today on the range on resl grass and it really was a great exercise. I had to strengthen my grip and really bow the left hand more. Its so strange how well the ball flies when you get it correct!
Great videos, Clay, as usual. I also catch you on Golf Pass as well. Glad to see you are everywhere. What kind of swing speed would you need to have that much lag at impact? It seems that anything under 90 mph just won't get a ball up off the ground much. Also, with that amount of lag, you really need some speed to get those 4 and 3-irons up in the air. Let me know what you think.
Ok so i take my best punch swing from the trees and take it to a full swing shot, it sounds easy, but i know better! I got a great controllable punch but stuggle making strong shots from the fairway, thank you!
Watched a few of these videos you make it so simple going to try on the range and will report back. One question should you be having lag with the driver as well. Or is it different if you are supposed to swing up on the ball?
looks just like what tommy fleetwood does...trying to figure out how to do this w driver :( can't seem to not hit it right, i can do it with irons fine
IF you compress your irons, you are getting less loft, right? Then how to you get HEIGHT???? I don't get it. How do the pros hit is so high then? what am I missing.
Sorry, I know this comment is old but I noticed no one answered it. The answer is simply "speed". If you take a 4 iron and swing it 70mph (assuming ideal contact), ball flight won't be very high and there wont be much distance. If you swing it again, same ball position and same contact quality, but swing it 100mph, it will go much higher and also much further obviously. This is why most people shouldn't be playing the longer irons, they don't have the swing speed to make them effective. A low ball flight 4 iron will run through the green, and you can guess what the higher ball flight 4 iron with steeper decent angle will have a much better chance of holding the green. There are exceptions to everything but this is the general answer.

Solid. Thanks Clay. 🙌🙌👍
My pleasure!
Really amazing drill Clay. Can't wait to try this. Question, how do you start the downswing with this drill?

Has it been working for ya?
LOL..... my go too shot with the ball back in my stance a bit when I need to hit low under some tree's.
How do you, or do you not need to, shallow the club? Is this more of a float load swing?
Great Drill
Thanks!
Does this apply to a driver swing??
What is this "straight shot" of which you speak?
Hi is this for distance and pivot?
Greetings from Rebel Capitalist
Hi there, thanks for watching!
okay with a 170 9 assuming you are 10 yards shorter how do you handle 20 to 150 yards seems like a LOT of feel shots when you have your power.
