I quite like the Astra H but I really hate not having a temp gauge I know most are “weighted” but at least you know when the engine is up to temperature or near by.
Family just bought one used and had a long drive back home and that's when I noticed there's no temp gauge.. very strange choice. So thnx for your tip about that!
You can set the intermittent we interval without holding the switch down. Push down once. Then count the number of seconds interval you want (say 9 seconds) then push the switch up for intermittent wipe. However long you took between pushing down and pushing up, will be the interval you set. It saves you holding the wipers on when they have cleared the screen. Hope that makes sense.
I had owned my car for quite a long time before I figured out the wiper timer, but you don't have to hold it down. Just tap down once, then wait for the required time and then tap up once. I hate that auto wiping feature when you spray the screenwash. Last winter I was on the motorway and wanted to spray to clear the salt and road spray from the windscreen. I didn't realise that I was out of screenwash and all that happened was it smeared it all over the windscreen which was even worse. The self-centring indicator stalk had me confused during my test drive, as trying to cancel in the conventional way you end up indicating in the opposite direction. I have since realised the best way to cancel is to tap once in the same direction you are indicating. Takes some getting used to but now it is second nature. Also, a partial tap in either direction gives three flashes in that direction, very handy for lane changes or exiting a roundabout.
Thanks. Saved me fiddling around with OBD readers etc. A tip for those with an automatic transmission car (Astra AH CD in my case): the auto trans needs to be in 'D'. Does not show the error codes if set to 'P'.
This also works for a Zafira 2006 Auto box, turn the key once (not starting the engine), press the brake pedal, put it in "D", turn off the key, press both pedals and turn the key once again (not to run the engine), MAGIC, Thank you.
I was really surprised with all of this!! I'm an Australian and I own a Holden AH Astra (2006), which is the same as this Opel H, and I had no idea about these hidden features!! Might try them out! Thanks mate from the Land Down Under!!!🇭🇲👍🏻😃
With regards to parking lights. I love the people who park up waiting for someone at night and leave their dipped lights on so you don't know whether or not they're coming toward you at first or if anyone is stood at the side of the car.
Regarding board computer features: in the past I drove diff model/similar functions; 1 of those screens will show gastank contents, in 3 figures: 1st= what sensor measures in tank, 2nd=computer averages out that much changing 1st figure, 3rd is what computer will show you in normal display, and is used in actionradius calculations.
Might be a bit late for the wiper thing, it also remembers the time when you push it down (for once) and then once you see the windscreen is filled with drops, you push it up once(for the timed function). It will also remember the time between both clicks
Very interesting. Thanks for posting. I was just looking how to change the time for a friend, but I think I will be able to do it now after watching this.
Also a lesser known thing is that on the 3 door models if press and hold the unlock button on the keys you can open your windows and close them buy pressing and holding the lock button.
Had mine a few years and just found out the key remote closes and opens the electric windows. Useful when you've locked the car and forget to close a window.
@@nikdiklic I know this is an old comment but in case anyone else is wondering this- you keep holding down the lock button on key and it will shut all opened windows.

If i have the dog i can unlock the car, hold the unlock button down on the key- windows go down- i can stop it half way- then re-lock the car with the key from a distance if needed. Ie if i take longer than planned at the petrol station or shop
Why the hell they haven't got a proper temp gage instead of having togo through that shit i will never know , the bloody engine could overheat without knowing, stupid idea from vauxhall .
If you get in the car and need to zero the service interval, press and hold the trip meter button ( keep it pressed), then turn the ignition on, whilst still having the trip meter button depressed( don't release yet), and the service will zero itself, back to start,( now take your finger off the trip meter button) hey presto, no need to take vehicle into dealer to reset. Only Vauxhall would sell a car with no temp gauge and with hidden features that are essential in emergencies ,lol I'm surprised you don't have to do an Easter egg hunt to find the hazard lights 😂
Some Nissans don't have a temp gauge either. Some BMWs don't have an oil dipstick, and some Mercs, if you take the cover of the brake fluid reservoir to check the level, it disables ABS and flashes some error on the dash. Does go away after driving for a bit, but still ridiculous.
Every Astra has cruise control and the onboard computer built in on build. Change the indicator stalk to the cruise control stalk . Tech 2 needed to switch it on.

Another Astra H tip.... Go on ebay and buy a "CDC40 Opera Blaupunkt" stereo for the Astra H, complete with a GID screen. They are vastly superior in sound quality, and have a 28 watts per channel RMS amplifier. So are pretty loud !. Way louder than the stock pants CD30 unit.

The buttons are along the bottom of the screen if there no buttons the it will be either a BID,GID or if your very lucky CID screen all of which will give you range. As for the aux if it factory fitted it will be beside the handbrake if not try the grove box
I've been playing with the idea of getting a Bluetooth speaker and ripping the circuit board out and wiring it in to the aux wire,I'm not sure if it will work but you never know unless you try 😁
The fuel range is only available on the BID,GID,Displays. Swapping out the TID isn't to difficult just remember you need a divorced/unit unless you can both screen and stereo from the doner car.
Just turn on the radio/cd player and tune to any FM station, I use radio 2, after approx 2 mins or so the clock will reset to the correct time automatically.

@@tristan1234567890 yeah that's right, have you got this code then? Have you ever put the key in and nothing happens?
@@tristan1234567890 I changed the batteries which sorted it but I did get new key fob a while after and not had code or problem again
@@tristan1234567890 your welcome mate 😁
Can you still activate the temperature gauge when you have an after market stereo?
Not as far as I know
Hi can you play Spotify in the car or not
Yes but you need a bluetooth car adaptor... about £17 on amazon
I've been playing with the idea of getting a Bluetooth speaker and ripping the circuit board out and wiring it in to the aux wire,I'm not sure if it will work but you never know unless you try 😁
Hello what about rear door won't open for vauxhall zafera
Can you open it manually,as in by the handles or is it deadlocked?
Zedalonus World dead locked
Sounds like wiring to door have broken
This can happen for two reasons 1) low battery 2) Worn lock catches. The catches are adjustable and away you go!
by the way, driving with an empty water bottle is illegal in Britain
That would be why once I finished the video I refilled it.
@@zedalon good action
Why tho ? Usually theres enough water in the air. 😅
@@casemodder89 why is anything illegal? because at one point or other some knob in an office decided it must be...
Only the driver would know he has no screen wash.
Can you tell me how to change the display language to english??
I think you will need an op-com or tech2 to do it,next time I need to used my op-com I will have a look and see if it's possible.
@@zedalon thanks for the reply.. I just fixed it and changed date and time by myself woo hoo!!
I'm not sure how to turn off winter driving mode tho, so I'll have to figure that out its the middle of summer here hahaha
Well done 👍 I was quite tired when replied and forgot about the settings menu 🤣 and what do you mean by winter driving mode?
@@zedalon there's a snowflake button above the P on the shifter. It's on (lit up) .. Says it's the winter driving mode for automatic transmission.
Nice
How do you find the range for fuel
The fuel range is only available on the BID,GID,Displays. Swapping out the TID isn't to difficult just remember you need a divorced/unit unless you can both screen and stereo from the doner car.

So on my 06 astra sxi 1.7 it's not on? Thanks
tip not very useful as all i wanted was how to reset the clock ?;;;;;
Just turn on the radio/cd player and tune to any FM station, I use radio 2, after approx 2 mins or so the clock will reset to the correct time automatically.
Very good
Thank you I am a new owner
Anyone no how to get how many miles are left up on the screen in the dash
