Psychonauts 2 was absolutely incredible! Probably the most creative and artystic game, i've played in along time... DoubleFine managed to aproach a really strong topic - Mental Illness. With a respect, while still having a clever humour build into it!❤️
The timer and the realization that after you best the level there was no point in trying to beat the time was a stroke of genius. Just like how the was no point in Compton stressing out to begin with. Gameplay and story perfectly working together
I had no idea that the timer had no punishment, but I also didn't stress myself out about it either because I knew I could come back... which lead to me passing the trials without even bumping elbows with any failure state. I got the opposite experience, but it still made the same point! Excellent storytelling, well done Double Fine!
I really hope the game is getting bigger and that we have hope for a 3 game this has so much potential for a series even with new characters, there is just so much you can do with this concept
Psychonauts 2 level design for each person really reminds me of persona 5 dungeons like the Palace ruler's Cognitions which interprets their biggest desires while psychonauts interprets mental illness aesthetics into the level
And that is exactly what makes both games amazing ❤️ Wildly different genres, but great products nonetheless. And they share many similarities in terms of exploring human psyche.
@@JulieAnaF I’ve heard and seen many good things from psychonauts 2 but haven’t played it, it looks like a fun game but currently going through my backlog now so I’ll probably wait for a sale in the future to get it
I love these deep dives/interviews analysis essays you all put together! Great video. I just wish TH-cam had shown me this earlier, since I'm subbed, but just seeing this fir the first time.
I know this game reviewed very highly but it’s still underrated. This game is an absolute masterpiece in creativity. I don’t think Double Fine is working on part 3 but they need to be. A platformer for adults.
I loved this level and loved the original concept for The Gods Must Be Hungry. I'm glad they made it into a single level because I couldn't see the prototype's core gameplay loop lasting for a fully developed game.
if this video just talks about asif's amnesia fortnight prototype (the gods must be hungry) and how this level had less devtime than the others i will be slightly peeved. i shall update after watching. update: ok this ruled! i loved seeing the as-of-now-unseen concept art and the look at the cut brainstorm power. i'm willing to bet we'll see more of the toybox world whenever the game's full documentary comes out.
Somebody: **uses a color lev ball** Me: “HOW DARE YOU! **breathes in** “ The color lev ball is really useless.. To be honest I think the orange lev ball **the original** is the best one out of all because it has more depth to the original game and the pins just take up a lot of room.. *especially the fact that it does nothing*
Played Psychonauts 1 for the first time recently.. man PS2 era games were so much better. The 2nd looks like more of the same, so I'm assuming it's also a classic.

It hurts knowing we're not getting another until DF have had a long enough break from the series. I'd bet we won't see 3 for a decade.

This game is a showcase in creativity. Great story, humour, art style … deep themes. Just amazing.

This feels like a video that should’ve come like a month after the game came out… lol
Would have liked to see more looks at "The Gods Must be Hungry" prototype , since it was released for Amnesia Fortnight 2017.

I'm honestly surprised not many people are mentioning that because it's almost one-to-one with the game design
so cool to see them talk about brainstorm!

I already want a Psychonauts 3

Masterpiece.
I wish everyone could go into this level blind. I completely lost it when it got going.

Yeah, that had to be my favorite level from the game.
I need double fine to make a costume quest 3 😭😭

Hello
I'm still a bit sad the game is not natively compatible with Linux, but I guess that's ok.
