Classic ”I hate” recipe - discover the weapon - half-assed description of approximately everything - whining about any sub-weapon that isn’t a bomb - top-notch gameplay - genius irony and endless banter I love this channel
Seeing the "I hate" series back is one of the best things that we've seen since this game came out. And I didn't expected a 20 minute video to start off! I really hope for the next videos to be long as well, since I think everyone enjoyed every minute of it. Also, it would be GREAT if the next "I hate" video could be about chargers. Just to keep the tradition of having the second video of this series be about those weapons.
"Hello old friend, its been too long." I remember watching "I kinda like Areosprays" fron the first series waiting for the next episode as I rewatched all the old ones, to THEN getting to be in his "snipers everywhere" private battle and now I'm coming back to watch the work of basically my childhood hero. Time man.. its fucking crazy
Tips from a 4 star tri stringer player: Best way to paint is facing upwards and rapid firing the bow while moving forward. Don’t hold your shots, it’s better releasing them as soon as you get enough charge to make the projectiles as they cover more ground and you’re more likely to hit someone with them (no precise aim needed) unless you’re aiming for someone far away. The sub is only really useful for ranked, you’re basically wasting ink if you use it in turf
my two main pieces of advice as a wellstring main: 1) partial charges are your bread and butter! the bolts are at their tightest spread just before the first charge, so there is quite a bit of margin to take precise shots at cost of a little range 2) learn how much you need to arch your shots to get the popsicles (explosives) to land as close to each other as possible on a jump shot! varying charge amounts and arch angles will lead to a lot of control within your entire range, making it a perfect weapon to stop objectives. you can then start shooting diagonally (at the beginning/end of a jump before it goes fully vertical/horizontal) to trap your enemies in ink and surround them with popsicles
I’m having a hard time landing the insta kill with custom wellstring. I do half charges and shoot them and some of them land on their feat and it kills them however longer ranged kills are where i struggle more just bc of the movement options
@@TristenKnibb-hx4xj so far what's kinda worked for me is practicing the arches to make the popsicles land as close as possible when they make contact with the ground. i don't often go for directs on long-range opponents unless they are marked somehow (standing on tower/holding an objective or sensored), and even then i try to rely more on trapping them with slight diagonals, but sometimes they hit as directs. this is where the high skill ceiling of the weapon comes into play, with more experience and a lot of practice i believe you can become consistent at landing long-distance directs, but it will take a long time. i've gotten a few directs flicking the bow upwards out of instinct (from a lot of practice with the lobby dummies) and by primarily looking at the enemy i'm shooting at and anticipating where they're going instead of thinking too much about the reticle (i rely on sound/timing to tell how much charge each shot has)
Omg, I'm not the only one!!! (Remember that half charged shots still does max damage when hit directly or it will do about 70 to 90 damage but if you are quick with it you can tap shot)
I like the little most likely unintentional detail of the splat bomb ink being green and covering the screen as a transition, and then jay's squid's ink being the same color.
this is very entertaining from the perspective of somebody that's fairly deep into the comp scene with stringers, though I know you're probably not going to play stringers too much after this, I'd still like to give some tips You're holding your charges for too long on tri-stringers, your partials are incredibly strong for area denial, they have to respect them while they're in play or else they'll die a single shot, as well, you're completely neglecting your tap shots, stringer paint is legitimately insane if you use it properly. Also, generally speaking full charge is only really worth going for if you have a specific target in mind, unless you know you're in a position where somebody is going to rush you, either just spam partials on areas they'd want or drop a shot behind a random piece of cover that's painted their color (using the map is great here since you know what parts of the map they own and thus where to target) as for flux, you're playing it too much like a midline, use taps as much as possible for paint and then play it like sploosh when in, you oneshot crazy early on the jump thanks to the air charge speed, at least, in close range, take advantage of that and hard rush them on wellstring, there's a lot here so Im going to space it out more: - you're using the vertical too much, it can be good if you have a target already that you're trying to secure a kill on, but generally you're gonna go for horizontal since it's free chip on them as well as paints way more - on the note of you not using your sub enough, I think you could use it more since, due to wellstring not having whiting frames (delay between shooting and being able to recover ink) it is allowed to throw out subs before it shoots without detriment since it doesnt take too much damage to its uptime from it, however the main gun itself is good to spam since the amount of pressure created by the main alone cannot be understated - on wellstring you actually usually dont want to hold onto full charge that much, since it's usually better to just spam them in high priority areas and/or area they want so you have quicker access to the mid-range oneshot - as of current custom wellstring is actually considered better rn due to the utility from the sub weapon being very cheap and barely doing a dent in its uptime, since it's already fairly efficient for the pressure it can create, and the main is so self sufficient due to the explosions that it doesnt actually really need a bomb since at the start of the charge (after the reticles overlap before fanning out) you can drop what are functionally small, faster, and cheaper splat bombs around yourself to protect yourself on defense bonus note, it is the wellstring V because it has 5 projectiles, as opposed to the other stringers which both have 3 i know you probably wont read this, but im passionate about stringers and want to see more people be able to use them proficiently because I think it's an extremely powerful weapon in the right hands
Reeflux and inkbrush are my mains and I think they're the most fun weapons in the entire game. Problem here when you're using reef is that jump shots/OHKO shots are incredibly valuable, you should be throwing those towards enemies trying to connect constantly. Walking tap shots are great for turf, charged jumps for kos
God that outro gave me such a surge of nostalgia i'm really happy this series is back. As for which weapon to use for the next video of the "I hate" series I would love to see chargers.
"I hate" Returns!!! also That intro animation from muffinsnakes is so good! idk what class to do next, but you gotta do "I hate rollers [splatoon 3 montage]" as the final episode, really bring it full circle
hello, custom wellstring main here! i was super excited to see the first I Hate series installment in a while be the class that i came to love! i saw another wellstring user comment about how it's used and i do basically agree with them. wellstring's big thing is its AOE capability; the first charge where the projectiles become explosive is where the projectiles are shot most in the center, but at second charge they're spread out to act like a wall of sorts, or at least help guide your opponents around if they don't want to get stuck. because of this, wellstring is a weapon that plays heavily on team support, especially with the cwellstring kit imo! however, if you want to be getting kills one on one, be mindful of shot angle and your charge. because the reticles converge on first charge and then diverge as you keep holding the charge, you often have to have good timing in order to win midrange fights. my aim also tends to be slightly lower when in this range mostly to help the projectiles hit if the start to spread out again. however when it comes to longer ranges, if you aim higher and jump, the projectiles will land closer together, like the tri-stringer's. slightly less range, but for more firepower. if you go around the lobby and try hitting the dummies on the grates from one of the elevated platforms, you can get a good idea of how to arc your shots + figure out your charge distances for max effect! (all this advice carries over to salmon run too, especially for bosses like steelhead where you have to aim up!) i specifically love cwellstring because of its chip damage and support capability. because point sensor does not damage opponents, it does force you to get used to wellstring's handling fast, but assists are also wellstring's strength! it's also just really fun to chuck the wave breaker right in opponents faces, and sometimes chip damage from wave breaker can do more for your team than you expect, on top of being a free ink refill. (i'm pretty biased towards wave breaker since it's my favorite special) i'm not the highest level player out there but i based this off of my own experience, hopefully it helps for other people who may be eyeing the big guy. i never played stringers before wellstring but cwellstring came in like a storm and somehow grasped my attention enough to make me want to main it!
I got a story I was somewhat of a fan of splatoon when the series started. I got the first game pretty early in it's life but at the time wasn't really into multiplayer games so I only sorta got into it. I got the second game as a Christmas gift and enjoyed it for a bit as well. For a long while that was it though. It wasn't until I randomly found the i hate series and binged every episode that I got the urge to go back and play some more. And for whatever reason I got hooked and fell in love. So I largely have this channel and the i hate series to thank for really getting me into the franchise. So I wanted to thank you for what you do here. Love your videos
I just went on a vacation for a week, and was scrolling through my notifications trying to choose which video from the past week to watch first. I could not have clicked on this one any faster
when i first got splatoon i started looking for content to watch about it, and found the "i hate" series. jay's been my favorite streamer ever since, welcome back king
Thank you Jay. I've been watching your stuff on TH-cam since 2017 when splat 2 released. It's amazing to see this on my last year of school. Love and appreciate you man ✊
It's just a chill easy weapon. You kinda just sit back and do things while your teammates die 11 times running into the enemy team one by one and end up in negative s rank. It's great.
I like the intro but i have a few things to improve. #1 Purple hair. You were a purple squid, shot purple ink, but had brown hair. #2 Bomb. The bomb that splatted you was yellow, but it exploded into green ink.
The trick to hitting the dummy at 5:11 is to arc your shots. Aiming directly at it won't work unless you're further away, from that angle you'd have to aim way above it and get the shot to come down and hit it from above (i like tristringer too much)
Stringer is quite unique when you get the fundamentals down, Explosions are great to deny enemies specific positions or routes (E.g. Enemy high ground to prevent their backline from standing there). Altough it's not that great at going for snipes, There's a considerable travel time at longer distances which can be used to bait you, Therefore Stringer relies on stealth and distractions to catch enemies by suprise.
Bonus Tip: Stringers have no white ink frames which means they can recover ink immidietly after firing a shot. Sub Weapon > Half Charge allows you to avoid the recovery time after throwing a Sub Weapon.
"...I look like I work at a sweatshop." That one line started the boom that carried this iconic series 8 years strong... Hello, everybody... and WELCOME BACK.
Welcome back I hate Splatoon, we missed you As for suggestions for weapons, it'd be hilarious if you did Splatlings next to immediately knock out your main from the series
Jay being like "I don't get to play turf war very much" makes sense after saying he wasn't quite sure how to use reef-lux. It's the stringer that's strongest when it comes to quick turf coverage, but his anarchy fueled heart mainly craves the blood of his enemies ❤🔥
I swore off stringers early on in splat 3, but when wellstring was added I immediately got hooked on it. It's my fav weapon in the game now, and I've since got 5/7 stringers 4 starred. Love them now.
As someone who uses Stringers (Except both REEF-LUXes, I cannot stand the main weapon), this was freaking hilarious. Some of those kills were genuinely amazing to watch for someone who doesn't use the weapons much. As for the next I Hate, perhaps continue with the new Splatoon 3 classes, the Splatanas!
Probably not asking for actual tips for weapons in these series but ill still throw my hat in the ring with some stuff If you cant hit directs well, suffocation works incredibly well too, trapping the enemy in bombs as they struggle to paint out, its why it has the disruptor side on og bow, to make it really difficult for people to escape the suffocation area

on wellstring, there's a lot here so Im going to space it out more:
- you're using the vertical too much, it can be good if you have a target already that you're trying to secure a kill on, but generally you're gonna go for horizontal since it's free chip on them as well as paints way more
- on the note of you not using your sub enough, I think you could use it more since, due to wellstring not having whiting frames (delay between shooting and being able to recover ink) it is allowed to throw out subs before it shoots without detriment since it doesnt take too much damage to its uptime from it, however the main gun itself is good to spam since the amount of pressure created by the main alone cannot be understated
- on wellstring you actually usually dont want to hold onto full charge that much, since it's usually better to just spam them in high priority areas and/or area they want so you have quicker access to the mid-range oneshot
- as of current custom wellstring is actually considered better rn due to the utility from the sub weapon being very cheap and barely doing a dent in its uptime, since it's already fairly efficient for the pressure it can create, and the main is so self sufficient due to the explosions that it doesnt actually really need a bomb since at the start of the charge (after the reticles overlap before fanning out) you can drop what are functionally small, faster, and cheaper splat bombs around yourself to protect yourself on defense

As for the next I Hate, perhaps continue with the new Splatoon 3 classes, the Splatanas!
Welcome home
happy to see the series come back
19:45 The Grinch would be proud of such wise words.
Probably not asking for actual tips for weapons in these series but ill still throw my hat in the ring with some stuff
If you cant hit directs well, suffocation works incredibly well too, trapping the enemy in bombs as they struggle to paint out, its why it has the disruptor side on og bow, to make it really difficult for people to escape the suffocation area
ITS BACK LETS GOOOO
