Not until you watch these old videos do you realize what a beast Scott Frost was.
especially with that block he threw
Athletic obliteration of all opponents!!
I just wanted to say to the channel owner, this is my favorite video on TH-cam all time. It brings me back to a time when my dad was alive, my brain was not ravaged, Nebraska was good at football. I fall asleep to this video several times a month. Thank you.
Nebraska was Unstoppable back in the day.....they were the Alabama of the 70's, 80's and 90's.....
The Huskers sure don't hand out ass kickings like this anymore. I long for these days.
Lindsey Summers patience my freind were headed there soon plan on it!!!
Miss these days, Nebraska was the Alabama back in the day.
Alabama is the NEBRASKA program today,…
The days of the huge shoulder pads! And the domination of Nebraska.
they needed them; they let you play and hit like grown men back then...
i remember the days when after the 1st half a nebraska game was already over so I could just relax the entire 2nd half..
Those were the days!
They will come again.
venusfan -and channel browse other games
It was the same thing with Texas games too
I think Tom Osborne was the greatest thing to ever happen to the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
Tom Osborne literally IS Nebraska football. We've pretty much been dogshit since he retired.
@@StonedMeadowOfDoom Solich had some good years. In 99 they were the best team in the country. They had one regular season loss to Texas and it kept them out of the national championship game. I wish Osborne had stayed through the 2001 season, if he had we probably would have had two more national championships. In 99 he missed coaching so bad he considered taking the head coaching job at Michigan State when Saban left to go to LSU. He basically said he turned it down because he knew Nebraska fans would be pretty upset.
Chuck R source ?
@@dannyhuskerjay I heard Osborne say it in an interview years ago. Apparently they tried to hire him in November of 1994 months before he won his first national championship, he obviously turned it down and they hired Saban instead. Then when Saban left they tried a 2nd time in 1999 to hire him as coach, and in 2001 as AD. Here's some additional info I found through a google seaarch. Lynn Henning a sports writer with the Detroit News published a book called "Spartan Season's"chronicaling the political turmoil in the Michigan State Spartans football program from the George Perles era of the 80's until a couple of years ago. It was a pretty interesting read for me having grown up as a Spartan fan, and living through all of the coaching changes, and turmoil that defined Michigan State football during that time. One of the most interesting things written about (and I heard nothing about it at the time all of this was to have occured) were the frequent attempts by Michigan State's former President M. Peter McPhereson to lure Tom Osborne to East Lansing. In 1994 before Michigan State had hired Nick Saban and Osborne was under some pressure with a bowl losing streak that was making the fans here anxious he apparently came close to taking the Michigan State job before talking it over with his assistants and declining. Then he was offered it again in 1999 when Saban left for LSU and gave it some consideration before his doctor strongly advised against it. He was even offered the AD job in 2001 according to Henning.
Just out of curiosity why did Frank Solich get fired despite having a winning record? I believe his record was 58-15
Had this game recorded what a dominating performance in a conference championship game!!!
the days of taping games on VHS and the channel had "double vision"
Can we please go back to this offense?
+Chris F no shit right! Thing is it's never about nebraska scoring pts. Look at these old vids, our CB's are amazing, and linebackers. Also great Dline.
Ooo but things change bs if it not broke don't fix it
+Bryan Neideffer fucking agree 100%
Bryan Neideffer right i mean look at what georgia tech is doing.
Chris F We can all thank Bill Callahan for that. I love that one of AD Tom Osborne's first official acts was to fire that clown.
This offense was almost all kids from the state of Nebraska. Where have these type of kids gone??
North Dakota State, South Dakota State, Iowa
Makes me sick...hope Frost changes this and starts mining the state. There is talent there. Nine starters on offense on this team were from Nebraska.
Other schools because of piss poor administrators
BIG ERN well theres alot more competition in recruiting and we really fell off the place nebraska kids want to play because of really bad coaching and bad AD mistakes by that i mean really stupid AD decisions firing solich hiring callahan and riley!!! Will get back there coach frost and bill moos will make it great again!!!
Away because non-Nebraska coaches didn't want Nebraska players.
I was at this game. Beers were expensive. Even so, I don't remember the 3rd quarter and apparently fell into the rows in front of me while everyone was high fiving one another. EVERYONE at this game was awesome. The A&M fans were so fun to party with, and polite. The A&M band was incredible. The residents of San Antonio were accommodating, the river walk was awesome, the Alamo was pretty cool too. 09:55 - this is what I think of, when I think of toughness, and why Nebraska has the right coach!
Roo H thats not so cool nebraska fans need to maintain a certain image please refrain from getting drunk at games thanks GBR!!!
@@traviskrause8509 stfu, geezus. You husker fans think your so awesome. Dude I remember being at a husker game as a little kid and rooting for the oppusing team, and all the blue hairs around me were being douche bags, talking shit shot to a little 10 kid, cussing, etc. So don't give me this All husker fans are the best, shit
Rick Moreno well first of all im sorry you experienced that. Thats was not how we expect our fans to act!!! But im proud of where i come from and the majority of our fans dont do that!!! And im sure your proud of your team and yes im always going to a proud nebraska fan!!! Again im sorry you experienced such rude behavior!!!
@@traviskrause8509 you are an idiot, if you don't want to have fun at games, fine, stay home and watch there. "don't get drunk" shut up you pathetic loser.
Ah, the good ol' days.
Joel Makovicka is a Damn beast!
6:24
Scott Frost was a beast.
He really was. We forget how strong and powerful he was as a runner, and he was plenty fast too. Gonna be fun to watch him bring some manhood back to the program.
*Scott Frost is a beast
FTFY
that o-line wasn't bad either...
Jarvis Redwine was a great runningback for NU. Be even greater if he actually posted this.
Facts
Lol, Dat Ngyuen. Played most of this game on his back!
Jarvis redwine I remember that great running back of nebraska greats!!!
is it even possible to run block like this anymore with the tiny little shoulder pads they wear now days
"Shun" was really his name...good god.
Boy, oddly enough, this recording starts with Dennis Franchione walking off the field, after getting destroyed in the WAC title game. Oh, what things would come...
In 1997.....that $250.000 will go along way
Let's go back to what we did best run football from the football run the football and put the full-back back in
I was at this game. GBR
this nebraska team is the most dominant team I've ever seen
check out the 1995 squad that flogged poor florida in the title game... a massacre. it was over after the national anthem.
We will always love Frost.
I forgot what an upset the '97 Heisman was. All the announcers, analysts and so called "experts" im seeing on these replays were handing the trophy to Peyton no questions asked. That Manning mystique PLUS the fact no primarily defensive player had ever won it before. Personally Im glad Woodson won it, i think it was a breath of fresh air for college football
If we’re being honest Randy Moss shoulda won the Heisman that year. Dude was dominate
Maybe Moss deserved the Heisman. But there's no way he should have been put in the Hall of Fame after being traded to the Raiders and refusing to go in and play and taking plays off on the field absolute disgrace
I don't know if anybody noticed if you watch the replays of the 97 season they talk about talking to Osburn ,in the Oklahoma game the Texas A&M conference game the Missouri game and Oklahoma an Colorado. I watched we're comments were made by Osborne about him coming back for the next year, talking to players about making sure they were coming back that was reported by the press, or too the Press by him . with him knowing he had newcome an Crouch starting the next year I think he was planning on coming back but he was worried he wasn't going to win the title that Michigan was going to win both poles and that's when he decided to pull the carpet out on returning as coach. on one of the game's announcer Jackson openly stated he talked Osborne about making a run for 300 wins getting it had a healthy doctor's report and he was looking forward to it
Ah yes, the era of huge shoulder pads. Lol
Bowden got away from us in 95,96 and 98. I always wondered if he threw those games to avoid us; especially that Virginia game.
shas wards nah they lost to a damn good UVA team in 95' look at that roster, ronde and tiki barber, James farrior etc...in 1996 they lost to a better Florida team, in 1997 they choked in Gainesville....imagine if Nebraska had to play a team like Florida every year...not once in a bowl game in a neutral site...plus having to play ranked UVA who were good in the mid 90s and a reemerging Miami team with guys like Edgerrin James....
Nebraska sucked in 98 what are you talking about
@@jamesbarnett527 agreed Bobby Bowden never sucked anyone. One of the best coaches in history & even a better human being he was..RIP Bobby
The good ole boys taking good ole steroids. Frost was a beast and the lines were huge
I was at this game, aggie was mad and salty after the end lol
He would have scored anyway! Do we all believe that Green and Frost would have been stopped? Hell no!
god if they would have won the big12 championship the year before they might of had 4 straight national titles. possibly five if there kicker would have made that last second field goal in the 1993 orange bowl
+Rick Walters we just had a better defense, like CB's lol linebackers great solid d line
or had the refs not screwed nebraska in the 94 orange bowl against fsu
Definitely...that 93 Husker team was was very, very good, however they drew a more mature and just plain well coached group of players in florida state..many of which would wear a nfl jersey in 6 months after that game...but that loss is what Mr Osborne confirmed what the players said to be truth...that game gave the Huskers the confidence that if they could match that Florida state team, and they did, their confidence exploded along with their resolve as that game was crushing loss..some teams will fold and some would rise..Husker players decided after that game, while still in Florida that the off-season will be brutal and they coming back and run the table the next year...which they far passed that declaration..they ran the tables for next 2 years
Recall reading comments from a&m dlinemen saying nu lineman would tell play and they still couldn't stop them
Now that was a championship team for sure. Go Big Red!
How much of a badass was Scott Frost?.... 9:45
Unlike the previous year's championship, they didn't have to deal with injuries and a good deal of the team throwing up on the sidelines from the flu bug.
Coach Fran as the New Mexico coach!
+Tim Marsh Before Beating Auburn 31-7 ruined the Tigers hope of a second trip to Atlanta in the SEC Championship game in 2001
Welcome home Frost. Remember - Osborne was just one play away from playing in 5 straight National Title bowl games and a field goal away from winning 4 out of last 5 National Titles. Not too bad. It's Restoration Time!
While I miss the Option offense, I really miss the athleticism and nastiness of the defenses that NU had. I think that is one of the biggest reasons for the struggles over the years. I believe Frost will have NU back on the map in a hurry, especially as far as offense is concerned. I just really want a tough defense. Go Big Red!
Frost won t be bringing back stout defense as long as he runs that shit spread, all the teams that run the spread have defenses that bend and break, only way the husker will get back to being blackshirts, is if they ditch that spread and go back to the O formation power running game, and don't tell me it doesn't work, look at wisconsin, shut the tide have a power running game.
Rick Moreno you’re saying that works in modern football? It hasn’t gotten Wisconsin over the hump and it hasn’t gotten Michigan over the hump, even though Michigan consistently has top 10 talent.
@@epicclips456llok at the system alabama ran before this last qb, they ran a power running game out of the I formation more than not. so don't give me, "look at wisc, they cant get over the hump" bs that is a shit line
@@epicclips456 and you sound like the typical husker football fan, "what have you done for me now" mentality! Wisconsin fans are very excited they have a football team that produces wins, they know they eventually get a title, but there not bitching! It takes decades to win titles, that's the way it is! Alabama and saban's are a mirage. He's going to leave soon, plus it won't last even if he stays ! Itll be someone else that is the team to beat in the next couple years. And football runs in cycles, you watch. Teams that run the I formation option and power attack will be the norm soon as well!
This didn’t age well
I was there

Yes
missed the 1st series of downs but 3 and out
BD,too !
Only a few days later, Dr. Coach Tom Osborne announced his retirement.
remember that day well -- sad day
Huge mistake. Gave up a good 10 more years of domination to be a congressman 🤦♂️
@@StonedMeadowOfDoom he was ready to retire from coaching.
Texas got away from us this year just like Bowden did in 95. Aarghh!!
i remember this game i was 14 in 1997
Gosh i remember that horrific Quarterback Stewart, hated watching our offense.. all we needed to beat Nebraska was a QB.
well...and a defense...
No…A & M got blitzed 54-15 says you needed a hell of a lot more than just a QB in this game
Fran leaving New Mexico for WAC Rival TCU that was 1-10 under Pat Sullivan.
i was there
Same here! 8 years old and next to an Aggie couple! Wasn't very fun for them!
2:05:22 talking about the Huskers not being as good on grass 🙄
Go CSU!!!
When we actlly we’re good
Tom Osborne’s Final Season At Nebraska.
Nohting like looking at a VCR recorded game and antenanne source
Florida state should have played Nebraska In the sugar bowl .
LoL then recall the hype of Tennessee, # POUNDING! Should’ve been michigan getting buried by 24 or more points
59:00 lol
Dat Nguyen? More like Dat Loss! /rimshot
Nebraska won't dominate in the b10. Now if they were 2go back 2the b12 I can see Nebraska turning it around.
Long side @t
Can you imagine football players pounding Dr. Peppers on the sideline during a game? hahahaha stupid, cheesy 90s commercials.
Lol
