Thanks so much for this video, I love my 707 but haven't gotten into the scene chaining yet. I didn't know it was so simple! Hopefully they let us start placing scenes out of order, I like making different song structures. For now, I guess one could assign the same scenes across multiple banks if they want to repeat a part of the song
Wow I totally missed this update! Being able to chain scenes is a total GAME CHANGER For me! I am going to update it asap tomorrow and get into this! I'm hoping to get my first turntable soon and was going to bust the 707 to do some sampling. Too bad about the loop time but I can work around that with my other gear. Really great video buddy, you're really thorough and clear spoken! Keep up the great work 😃
Cheers mate - reacquainting myself with this as it's now my master clock & the Akai Key 61 (which has song mode!) is slaved in along with the Deluge, Akai Pro Force & Korg Electribe. Once I get the Jupiter XM this will be part of my live set up - need a smaller live rig yet without heavy synthesizers. All in the studio running the Blofeld, JV 1010 & June DI but only need a couple of desktop synthesizers with me. Apparently there was a MIDI bug which they have fixed with the MC 707 going out with MSB LSB PC# but 1.81 fixes that - will use the MC 303 one day with it. Thanks again - thought this was gonna take a while as on occasion menu diving is a challenge but each update does make it easier! Dave, from South Australia!
Hey! Really glad that you have this device! For my little basement studio it is too big so I will sometimes grab MC 101. But really looking forward to hear some of you super cool composition on it! Take care!
Ok I’m new to grooveboxes and I have a stupid question. So I’ve seen that you can program the clips to repeat x amount of times and then play into another clip and then come back again, so what is the point of saving them to a scene? What am I missing?
Watched a few of your videos in the past but you can now consider me a subscriber! I’m so jelly you got the 707! Now you need to do lots of video jams with it! Do it! 😄
Nice one jade. Would’ve good to see a deep dive sound design video- Roland rompler architecture can be taken in some pretty interesting directions with skill!
@@geecen Haha how I phrased it wasn't very clear, but for a moment I thought you meant that the classic 'Synth' sounds weren't VA, but samples of synth sounds with some slighty tweakability. I've seen a bunch of people say that.
Hi. The 1 minute sample time in the looper track is too little, but in fw 1.7+ you can render a the content of a looper track to wav, and import it in a drum track or tone track, where you have 6 minutes stereo (or 12 in mono, but the looper track export is in stereo) sample time. Is not a lot, but is better, and I was sure that the MC-707 can sample directly to drum/tone tracks (the MC-101 can only sample via USB to the looper track). Let's hope that Roland can somehow unify that memory into a 7min pool for looper and samples, or even better, allow the looper to stream from the SD card.
Exactly what I wanted to comment. Additionally Roland should increase the step length of scene chaining from 127 to 512. I have old songs created with clip chaining up to 512 steps per scene, but with current limitations I cannot chain them together
Hey hi Jade, thanks for video! I want to create a live act by chaining scenes. For example scene 1-8 are 1 Song, 9-16 are the second Song and so on.. In total there should be 16 songs. Do you know how to program that?
Hello! I need my DrumBrute Impact and a pair of speakers go with Scarlett 4i4. Next week a mc-707 will come 😊 Will you telling me I have a cables please? Thank you!
Beautiful song and great review! Could the MC-707 to replace the SP-404 and the TR-8S jobs? I´d like to have the SP and the TR, and thought may be the MC should be an alternative to save desk space. Thanks in advance
Thanks. I liked how the song turned out, the end result was nice, but the process was not really my style, the clips are a bit confusing but I'm sure if you put the time in you could make some dope stuff with it. Nothing with replace 404 for me lol that's bae. You could have fun running this through the 404 though, I feel this could replace the TR8s if you did it right
im confused, you said that there cannot be a song mode when you repeat a part certain amount of times but the next thing you do is that in minute 10:24. Im confused haha
The Mc-707 is really deep, was fun to use but I wish the focus was more on the screen and less on the wasted space of the knobs and sliders. We all scream for bigger screens but this one definitely needed one, even as big as the Mv-8800 or the MC909. I remember being like 4 screens deep into a synth patch and getting lost quickly but if I needed to turn the volume down, EASY!
This is such a jammy little box, and the controls feel great. But the poor sample time/quality killed it for me. Any time stretch or pitch shift on samples is audibly noticeable.
Great video Jade. I absolutely love the feature set of the MC-707, BUT I took mine back as I just was not happy with the build quality for the price you pay for it. The pads were sticky and unresponsive, cheap feeling rubber buttons, and it just didn't have that premium feel to it! As my first roland product I wasn't best impressed but I may have just been unlucky with my unit. I will say though I really wanted to like it and I love how deep you can get with it.
I also have one but I am happy with the build quality. WRT of response - you need to adjust the pad gain and the other settings to get this right. That fixed it for me.
@@mudi2000a I had 3 pads that would only register my pad presses 50% of the time, making it near impossible to actually record anything and "jam" on it, as I had no confidence it would record what I wanted it to. I just had a bad unit, and maybe I'll try out the smaller and cheaper sibling in the future :)
4:26 The Sampling Capabilities are fine for what I need but I am going to end being better off with the MC-101 (which I love...) & the impending SP-404 mkii. But yeah for the price the Sampling Capabilities of the MC-707 should be better...
Its great that you're so familiar with the device, but for people who come to this video to learn anything, you talk so fast and take for granted that the viewer already knows everything, that you make it impossible to follow and actually learn anything.
A MC-707-Boombap-Style-Video like your SP-404-Jams would be awesome.
I love my MC707s. My live setup is now 2xTR8S, 2XMC707 and an MX1, it's dreamy
That is actually cool idea, with 2x2 you can DJ all night with this setup!
Interesting, cool!
I don't know much about the high end grooveboxes but I love my MC 707.
So stoked about the new studio space! Congrats again! 🥳

Really liked your demo tune, Jade. Nice melody, sound design and arrangement. It felt like you bonded with this groovebox.

It's not even a rompler, it's a proper VA engine, so it's definitely worth diving in to
Edit: it's of course rompler+VA synth
@@OttosTheName It's a rompler, plus VA engine. I love romplers, so that wasn't shade! :)
Oh yeah of course, it also plays samples of instruments so it's both, you're right. Thought you meant the synth engine :)
@@OttosTheName I did! It has the classic roland PCM rompler engine in it, plus VA waves.

Since you have the sp 404 can you tell me if the 90 FX on the 707 are the same or different than what’s on the 404?
I loved ur RYTm vids . Helped me choose to buy one
Really cool song !!
You make dee 707 sad...
nice video, love this 707 and tr8s, can't afford both though haha
@Jade Wii, how would this be for live deep house or other genres of EDM ? I'm looking for something other than the MPC to use with my sp 404.
Good for electronic

Did you put aftermarket ear pads on your headphones? If so, do you mind sharing what kind they are? They look comfy.
Nah, they’re just old and falling apart xD I got the hose quiet confort to replace them but my cable broke so gotta replace that first!
