- I put about another 210 rounds through my Ruger Security .380.
I have had a lot of people saying their security 380, or their friends gun had jamming issues or loading issues. My gun is a sample size of 1, but mine has been reliable. I have shot a bunch of different kinds of ammo including silvertip, Fiocchi hollow point, Winchester white box, New Republic, Ammo Inc, and Blazer.
I have 6 magazines with mine, and Al the mags I have are reliable. I do keep my mags loaded, and maybe that helps reliability.
I don’t recommend guns unless I believe in them, and I still recommend this. Hopefully if you buy one, you have the same luck I have - กีฬา
You're a natural at this. Just watching you shoot and talk and load magazines is relaxing. Plus everything you say seems to make sense, that always helps!
Lol, I appreciate that Buffalo- sometimes I’m decent at multi-tasking
Glad to see the community supporting one another ! That’s good stuff 💪🏼
I just purchased this Security 380 at Bass pro and so excited to try it out! I love this gun and thanks for your terrific video.
Report back what you think! I have heard some mixed reviews, but mine has been extremely reliable and accurate!
I’d buy one and hope their customer service is good! Great price too.

Sometimes problems occur from limp wristing, or sometimes new mags don’t work as well as ones that stay loaded to in my experience.
Like my S&W Shield Ez .380 had issues stove piping on the last round supposedly because of the magazines, and after I left them loaded for a month, they don’t do that anymore, way more reliable. Some issues are user induced too, I have shot guns that worked fine, hand them to someone else and they jam- again limp wrist or unfamiliarity,
@@crankygunreviews Interesting. I’ll try keeping my EZ mags loaded. I’ve had the same issue off and on. Recently had failure to eject in another gun. Turns out it’s one kind of ammo. I had 2 other guys shoot it as I thought it was my grip. Thanks for your input!
I've had my Security .380 for a little over 3 months and have put about 300 rounds through it. It absolutely refuses to cycle Fiocchi FMJ. Everything else that I've tried (CCI Blazer Brass, Armscor, Remington and Aguila) all cycled with no failures. I train with Blazer Brass and use Hornady Critical Defense for bedside duty. I don't carry the Ruger because of the weight (I carry either an Sig P365-380 or a Glock 42) but it's a joy to shoot and very accurate.
Interesting- usualy fiocchi is pretty good
Mine will not cycle Fiocchi either.
@@HighCountryLiving interesting
Mine doesn’t like Fiocchi either.
Great video for the community/owners. The one I borrowed for review ran 100% and I feel like I could have even ran steel case with no issues...
Yeah, I bet it could run steel. I don’t think I have any left or I’d try it.
Mine will run anything but inception arx 56gr. It wouldn't even move the slide back and sounded like 22lr.
thats why ammo testing is important@@ambrechambers7094
My dad was never much of a "gun guy," but he always kept a nickel plated S&W model 10 for home defense. He won it in a poker game in the 70s, actually
He's getting much older now, and the recoil of 380 is comfortable for him out of his EZ shield. He feels good with it, so 380 fits him. Due to arthritis, he can't even pull the trigger on any double action anymore, but he does great with his 380
Yeah the .380 is a great gun for recoil sensitive. This one or the shield ez are both great
My friend's dad pick up one of the ruger security last year, he's run about 450 rounds through it , he keeps a little pocket tablet that he writes down what gun and how much ammo he uses and kind during a range outing. I do that also with my carry guns along with accuracy with defensive rounds .
I just record my range trips and upload them :) watch them later.
Great content as always Cranky. Thanks!
My pleasure!
The missus' next gun! Thanks for the great review!
You’re mileage may vary- some people have had no-as-good luck as I have. I’m happy with mine though
I love this gun..my only issue has been with Winchester flat nose rounds.Gun will not fully load first round into chamber.I give the slide a rap and all the following rounds run great. It’s just that first one
Mine has run a few boxes of those no issue
First day at the range, my security 380 would not feed Fiocchi ammo. All other ammo brands were fine. IT may have been that particular box of Fiocchi as I have not tried another since.
Interesting
In the .355 caliber, there can come a point where a light enough projectile to produce minimal recoil just isn't going to provide the most optimal penetration characteristics, purely based on sectional density. Probably better off going to .32 caliber with similar weight, if reduced recoil is the main goal.
If you have a light load like that and it doesn’t cycle the gun you should rly take the time to check the barrel for a squib load with a cleaning rod or a pen whatever is handy ensure there’s no stuck round or obstruction. Putting a new round in and firing into the obstruction makes a grenade in your hands. Be safe !
I’m well aware the dangers of squibs: I have had one happen to me. I saw the impact in this case, so I new the barrel was clear, just the case didn’t eject
@@crankygunreviews I figured you might have seen the impact , great perk of shoot n see targets. Keep up the good work
@@Benelli1989 thanks 👍
New republic ammo ran great after 500 round break in. Feed ramp polish
Great!
Security .380 is firing great. No jams/no problems. Wife loves it, too. I was able to get my Security 9 back! lol Thanks for the video!!!
Thanks for watching and for the comment
Any problems with the 15 round mags?
Don’t know, I don’t have any. I only have 10 rounders
My only issue with the 15 round mag, is the crowbar you need to put that 15th round in!!😂
I have strong thumbs- but I wouldn't know about the 15 round mags for these, I only have 10 rounders. @@ambrechambers7094
Ruger makes ok handguns im still kinda mad at ruger over the sr22
Again, my gun is a sample size of one but my SR22 was fine
I have both. Love them
