it actually depends on what KIND of body fat you're carrying too VISCERAL fat is bad fat. subcutaneous fat is not necessarily as bad (in fact no subcutaneous fat is very bad). also, brown fat is something that is very difficult to cultivate but extremely good for you because it's rich in mitochondrial dna.
I think he's doing it wrong... Is it me, or is he measuring not the thickness of the fold, but the length of the top of the fold? Hard to explain. Calipers measure the thickness of what is pinched it looks like here is measuring how far the skin is pulled from the body. Am I right?
Ways this video is wrong & inaccurate: 1. He didn't measure her arm-fat. He measured how far the skin would stretch. In order to measure the fat, you need to pinch and measure the amount of millimeters of fat tissue BETWEEN your fingers. Instead, he measured how far away the skin would reach away from the arm. Wrong. 2. Like the video said: Different people have fat on different places. That's why you need to measure at multiple places! Don't only measure the arm. Measure at multiple places on the body and combine the results. 3. Don't use a ruler. Use a caliper. It's way more accurate. 4. Don't only use one way of determining body fat percentage. Measuring body fat is hard and most methods have their flaws. Use multiple methods and compare the results. Please downvote the video to prevent spreading misinformation.
But women have different places to accumulate fat the most. Two women who have same bf%, and say one of them accumulate it more on the upper body area, where as the other one, lets say gains more fat on the lower body area won't have the same bf percentage with this same formula. So how can this be accurate? And if this isn't, what is the more accurate formula? I'd like to know. I have the most body fat on my waist and hip area, my legs and arms are extremely skinny that if i use this formula Id be considered athlete.
How to beat about the bush? Well a measure of 15mm on tricep skinfold would not necessarily mean a 13% body fat. He didn't calculate that. Not a very well informed guy.
This is completely wrong. What if I did an older women and her arm sags down 40 Millimeters. Under her Tricep muscle does that mean she’s 50% fat this is completely wrong
These measurements aren't accurate. However, a typical healthy female requires body fat to fall between 25% - 30%. If you value fertility and metabolic health this is an optimal range to be in. Don't let them worry you about being "acceptable" at 25% because women naturally need to have more bf to ovulate.

That wouldn’t work for me. I wear a size 10 and I carry a lot of weight in my upper arms. I gained a lot of weight and lost weight and so I have a lot of extra skin anyway. My grandmother and my mother had upper arm weight. So I find that totally in accurate. If I were to pinch my arm it would probably say I’m obese at a size 10
Accuracy of a ruler is limited, and the accuracy of the muscle fat measurement is higher. There are many highly accurate and portable Muscle & Fat Ultrasound Measurement on the market today. Anyone can use it easily.
im sorry, but no way she is 18 to 23 percent body fat, id say at the bare minimum she is 25 and up Edit: Btw im not calling her fat, im just trying to let people know
Nice job with the half=assed cherry picking your measurements what a joke. Truth be told she is likely 35*40%. In addition to the bicep, you measure the pectoral, the iliac, and mid thigh. You also have to measure the circumference of the neck, chest, waist hips, arms and legs relaxed and contracted. Then AFTER you average out all of the ALL OF THE MEASUREMENTS you go to the body fat chart.
What about the fat belt around her stomach? That puts her at higher percentage. You don't measure on area only. This guy is another full of BS youtuber.
If they weight the same the volume is the same because if they weight the same and you take random amounts of it and say they weigh the same then they dont weigh the same do they thats like getting a bag of feathers and a brick that weight a pound and argueing that a feathers way the same as brick if you have a pound of fat and a pound of muscle no shit they weigh the same you need to take a relative ammount and compare
*****THIS IS UTTER BS. PLS DO NOT FOLLOW. ****** I had a good laugh when he put the black lady b/w Athletic/Fit scale after pinching her tricep. Fat is not evenly distributed throughout the body. You can't just pinch your tricep and even roughly get the percentage. That's just dumb.
This is NOT accurate!!! My upper body is very lean and muscular, and most of my fat is from the waist down.
well of course it's not accurate that lady is nowhere near "fitness" she's between acceptable and going down to obese

@Marti Brown I don’t remember asking
that aint no 18 percent....she is more like 30
Yeah thats true man
fr
Annu Kun more like 23-30.pretty close to average.
I mean 24-30
30% body fat would count as obese lmao get a chart
so if I'm a crack addict with 6-13% body fat I'm an athlete lol

Victor G sooo true, I've had my body fat measured professionally it was at 11% according to this my body fat is at 25%
I noticed he was measuring the skin stretch too! I was like... Um, wait a minute.
Oh thank god I thought I was obese for a sec there
Trust me, I am a doctor, lol !!!!!!
Agree, you measure between the calipers.
Jeff Cavaliere: how measuring Body Fat Percentage is killing your gains
So Rene falls between fit and an athlete....
I wanna see her run, not a mile just the first lap of the mile, then we'll see if she is really "fit and athletic"
For women, but she has a muffin top that wasn't even measure just arms.

What if I got hella loose skin and when I strech that thing goes to Mars
Measuring your arm has to be subjective.
If you have pear or apple shaped body you’ll store most of your fat in either your upper or lower body
My arms are 10 mm but I've got a decent amount of belly fat so this doesn't help much
He should have just discussed the percentages and what they mean. The hip to waist measurement is the best measurement for general health.
She’s not 18% body fat. Good grief. He didn’t even measure above her hip or the fat on her thigh.
She is more like 35-40%

Abdominal fat doesn't correlate to cardiovascular disease. It contributes and causes it
