  • Today I show you exactly how to change the plugs on a BMW 328i from 2007-2011! This seems like a large job but, I promise you with a little patience it is not bad at all. If you have any questions please leave them below and I'll do my best to get to them! Thank you so much for watching!
    In video I said the gap was 0.030 because I found some posts online saying it was correct and that is a really common gap. However while editing I found some other resources that said 0.044 gap is correct. For what it is worth, I did 0.030 and it ran perfectly so take that as you will.

    One of the best instructional videos I've ever seen. I changed the sparkplugs on my 2011 328i with no issues, saving myself about 400 dollars!! Thank you!!!

    Gotta say this was the clearest cleanest step by step for us dummies Ive seen. I was able to save $1,324 today because of this. Dealer had it for SULEV Warranty repairs and the plugs and coils were not included. 1300!!!!! 😂
    The only snag - was cylinder 4 - appears theres only 1/2 of a spark plug at best. I simply put the coil pack back and moved on. No idea how its even working - but it is. I know that coil pack was done about a year ago when my valvtronic motor was replaced. No way to prove anyone did anything… oh well. Looks like down the road its really gonna suck to fix that misfire

      @@2carpros BMW replaced my fuel pump, fuel tank, my valve cover and valve cover gasket and fixed a crack found in my exhaust. On SULEV warranty. I did the aforementioned plugs and coils. Used NGT plugs and Delphi ignition coils.
      Apparently the broken plug isnt broken - good news is its the lower half of the boot from the old coil. Hopefully i can fish it out without breaking the plug for real! Wish me luck

    On our 2007 328xi, I had to unbolt one end of the chassis crossmember that goes over spark plug #5, in order to get the socket on the plug ;-) You need a Torx socket for it. Watch out for the big +12v jumper terminal next to the cross member, and make sure it does not contact it!!!

      He used a 8mm socket with a wrench and for the spark plugs he used a 5/8th deep socket but one specifically deep enough for spark plugs

    I am having a garage put new plugs and coils in my 2011 328I, when he pulled plugs out, they were not the plugs that is called for in the car. they were shorter at the threaded shaft and carboned up. we bought the plugs called for in this engine, which were longer. My question is,why would they use a wrong/different plug? can this hurt my engine? Could this be used to hide an issue with the engine or a cylinder? I see you suggest the Denzo IKH 20tt OR ac DELCO 21. Sorry, I don't have the plug number from what we pulled out. Thanks, Marty

    • @ThePerfectSeason1972
      @ThePerfectSeason1972 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Marty- it sounds like the last person who put them in did not check them side by side to compare and make sure. Are you the original owner to retrace to who did it last. If not the original owner, was the car running bad? If the threaded stem was shorter, it would affect the performance of the engine for sure. The question would be, how much shorter were they than the originals ?

      @@6atxrn does it do a little stutter when you step on the gas? I have a 08 328xi and have done mounds of work on it. 260k miles and still runs good. From my experience if you’re experiencing lag, it’s either the fuel pump, coils, or if you have rough shifting maybe change the tranny fluid. Getting one of those like 60-80$ obd readers helps a lot too.

    When I came up selling parts I was taught that AC Delco went into GM products, Motorcraft or Autolite into Fords, NGK into Asian products, and Champion into MOPOR and lawn mowers. Not sure what you would put into a German car. but I know AC Delcos can't hurt it.
