      Thanks for checking it out Jimbo! Yeah I was happy with how it turned out, got lucky with the weather and a really long sunny day. Amazingly shot this using only the tiny monitor on the Komodo which I'm getting more used to relying on for shooting low profile TH-cam stuff.

    Thanks for the video dude. Good, grass roots, real person style presentation. It’s refreshing to finally hear somebody say it’s ok for a lens to not be perfect. For me, it’s often the idiosyncrasies that create the character.

    • @EdProsser
      @EdProsser  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Exactly. I think because many probably came up through using DSLRs where lenses were traditionally marketed on their sharpness and cleaness - there is this prevailing myth that that is the pinnacle of lens design. But we're seeing a move away from that now because everyone wants "cinematic" so that's become the new marketing push

    I primarily shoot with the bmpcc 6k g2, 4k and the OG, and the idea of having a really interesting 24mm prime at T1.2 is interesting, but my problem is, for the OG and 4k I use the Lumix 12-35mm (MFT) and I have to say it's very difficult to find a lens that is more versatile than that one. Add a black mist filter and a CPL/ND filter and there is just very little that I can't feel confident about shooting. Not to mention in that setup on the 4k and OG the heaviest thing literally is the NPF battery. But that 24mm is still super interesting. Nice review by the way, your footage, as usual is top notch!

    • @EdProsser
      @EdProsser  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I remember that lens! Think it was probably one of the first lenses I ever bought myself for my ol' GH4 - it was great!
      I think the benefit of cine style lenses is their manual focus rings are much better to work with than the smaller / electronic focus rings on stills lenses. I also prefer to control my aperture manually.

    1:41 not likely, since those two mounts use a larger flange distance. It would need to be a different optical design

I love the look, and it is perfectly suited to your subject matter, The Clinical look has its place of course., but people are softer and these lenses help one see the people rather than the pores in their skin, which is unnatural and disturbing, I find.

    • @EdProsser
      @EdProsser  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I think you're gonna be hard press to get anything better at this price point, and even then these are really hitting above their price point. Similar to you, I have a set of Vespids, but I can see these being more convenient a lot of the time due to their small form factor and no need for adapters.

      @storybydanehav ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EdProsser I agree, that is exactly my thoughts too. Making the camera smaller and lighter could be a huge benefit sometimes. I hate it everytime I decide to use my Canon RF glass on the komodo (always for packing reasons), because it's too clean, even with mist filters on it gives that digital look.

    • @EdProsser
      @EdProsser  ปีที่แล้ว

      How do you mean? I don't think they make the Komodo look bad - and the fact that they're so small and cheap will likely lend themselves to a lot of environments where you might be using the Komodo as a crash cam (not me!) - or where you want a small footprint.
      Like I also mention - some people might have burnt up all their budget on their camera system and need some affordable lenses to get them going - I don't think you can go wrong with these!

    • @EdProsser
      @EdProsser  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately that wouldn't work - these are Super 35 / APS-C lenses and the flange distance would match, if you used an adapter it would extend the lens too far forward. You'd have to remove the existing mount and re-fit with l-mount. Event after that you wouldn't be able to shoot in full frame on the camera.
