Just seeing this now. I was a driver for almost 30 years. I was lucky- only out OTR for about 2 years, and that was back in the early 90s. We didn’t have all the cool stuff you guys got now- and I ran alot of Wisconsin and Northern IL over those 2 winters- so I remember how nasty it can be. I was lucky enough to land a “local” job and that’s where I was for 25 years. I’m retired now and have to say- I don’t miss it one bit. Thanks for being out there and keeping it rolling- rain shine or snow. Take care and stay safe out there sir.
@@Edward_Flips I appreciate the offer but as I said, I only did 2 yrs OTR and that was back in the early mid 90s. Things were WAY different then. And I wasn’t running a business. I was driving for an O/O who owned 3 trucks. The majority of my experience was in a “local” job with an LTL carrier. I was just a driver and freight handler. A peon. I got stuck at the Love's truck stop in Cheyenne, Wyoming last year for 3 days because of a massive blizzard/snowstorm, it was crazy how cold it got and how much it snowed. Luckily for me, my APU worked like a charm and I had plenty of food.
There're few things better than having a nice, cozy parking spot when a storm is coming in. I love to burrow in and watch it through my windshield with a cup of coffee in hand and the heater blowing. Good times.

Some of the best sleep I’ve ever had was in a truck sleeper out on the road during a snowstorm or thunderstorm. Got fuel in the tanks for heat, some food and drinks in the fridge, and you know you can’t move anyway. Just kick off the boots, strip off the jeans, and crawl into the bunk under the covers. Pretty sweet.
That's just a dusting of snow. It's Sunday, it's the weekend, get a plastic bucket and a plastic bag, ( keep it outside ) get some goodies and a lot lizard and enjoy your weekend.

1984 Ohio. Brand new kenworth stuck at 46 truck stop. Heater takes a shit. Ice on windows etc I had to drive it to Hubbard about 15 min away. Held my head out the window so I could see. Good old days or not. Lol
get you some thick white chalk to draw a line from the center to the outside of your tire rubber. that will make it easier to see that the tire is rotating. i do both sides directly across from the other. then you wont look like that Prime truck dragging wheels. that O/O getting ready to pay some bucks.
Look at videos of Russian truckers tricks. They shove empty plastic bottles over one or two lug nuts on each tire, so they can see if their wheels are all turning from their driver's seat. All the bottles sticking out should be moving when the truck is moving.
Always always before you park your truck rocking back and forth a few times that way your tires won't melt down into the snow and be stuck in the morning and all-time trucker told me that
Drove for decades. Nothing more nerve wracking than snowy icy weather. Many drivers do not take it seriously and start sliding around. Lot of amateurs on the road in bad weather. Got to watch them. Nerve wracking. Had good fortune driving in those conditions but it freaked me out.
I have been taking a piece of chalk and Marking on my tires at 12 o'clock move up about a foot or 2 and get out and Look at all my tires and if that mark moved My wheels are good
I got news for you .... What you posted here was not snow... it was at most, a flurry. I got stranded at The Windmill Truckstop near Rapid City back in 85. It snowed so hard that it filled the spaces between the trucks (where you were walking 14:15) all the way to the top of the vans. You could walk on top of the vans from one end of the line to the other. I-90 was shut down for almost a week & the restaurant started running out of food. Now THAT was snow...
Just popped up in my recommendations 🤷 Middle of summer and surprising!y hot here in the UK (won't last) Thanks TH-cam random algorithm great vid much appreciated
Well Rams beat NO yesterday and I thought NO had it and Rams pulled out a magic trick 3 pointer. Do you keep ice melt on your truck? Good for in front of your tires as to keep traction on your way out. Safe travels in this frigid cold.
Both games went to overtime, the Rams beat the Saints by a field goal, and the Pats beat the Chiefs by a touch down, both every entertaining games. Drive Safe!
