I think I'll get that box. Other Chaosium starter sets haven't disappointed, and this looks really neat. I can remember playing "Pendragon" just once, but that time, it was with Greg Stafford as GM. It was a demo game at a convention, and I still have the autographed character sheet.
This is one of the best basic explanations of the rules. Even from videos from trying to explain the basic rules. Thank you!

Great review. In playing previous versions of Pendragon, I've found that the trait rolls don't have the impact on player agency that you might expect. The tone of the game is very much that the players are directing their knights within the limitations of the knight's characters rather than having them as blank puppets on which to exert their will. When Sir Bederic with his Lustful 16 trait is supposed to be guarding the treasure chest, but a pretty passing lady in waiting winks at him ... and he inevitably falls prey to his appetite and wanders after her... the universal response from the players is a woeful "Oh Bederic you twit" rather than "you can't tell me what to do, I'm a player!" and it enhances rather than detracts from the experience. Think of watching a beloved drama series - the characters inevitably make bad decisions based on the flaws, but that just adds to the drama. And don't forget the long term character play - seeing youthful lusty Bederic finally rise above his base nature and get his loyalty and chastity scores up just in time to marry carries more weight when you know he's been such a dick in the past.
One last note - I enjoyed reading Marion Zimmer Bradley's "Mists of Avalon" a lot when I was younger. The discovery that she sexually assaulted children kind of soured her work for me - and made the sex scenes in the book which included very young female characters unreadable.
I did not know that about Bradley. How horrible.

Nice review! Hopefully I can get a chance to check it out and look at the rules. I like the traits that go up and down in relation to their opposite. Cool concept there.
The bottom guy (sorry didn't catch the name 😊) does something I've struggled with aswell, it's clear he's reading off a script. What I do to sound a bit more naturel is write down bulletpoints rather than the entire speech, that way I'll convey everything I need to.
