Hi Tomas. Love this game system. Please continue to translate and update these classic Swedish adventures. I'm loving this world. I akin and play the system with the films of Terry Gilliam. Funny but can be brutal at times. See Jabberwocky, Time Bandits, Brazil.
As a Swede with family in the US and having played both systems since way back i'd say the "feel" difference is in the roots. That D&D started with a very heavy foot rooted in medieval war gaming with marvel and Tolkien later mixed in. The oldschool Swedish RPG scene did not have the base in war gaming but was more based on folklore and fairy tales with some pulp and adventure books like conan and Biggles and comics like the phantom mixed in. There was a larger focus on DIY and storytelling i feel and it left a lot more to the GM to flesh out but that can also be attributed to a lack of access and availability of published material and the framework nature of the early editions of DoD that left the world/lore to the modules or GM to provide. Not to bash early DoD but a lot of the writers where very young amateurs that sometimes provided less than stellar writing but certainly a unique take and some less than excellent translations/plagiarized takes on D&D/BRP modules.
I love free league. And many of my fave bands in traditionnal heavy metal are from sweden... (Hammerfall nocturnal rites, lost horizon, bullet, bathory...) There is something with this country ! I love ducks also...
It's going to be really cool! Thnx for this interview, sir 👍🤓 Tomas, will there be more things coming soon for Forbidden Lands? Thnx And, Tomas, that "nerve" in the game system is absolutely 💯 cool, and definitely old school in feel, for sure! Thank you 👊
Not a bad idea. Forbidden lands was actually supposed to be Dragonbane but due to IP licensing issues at the time it became it's own thing thus why much of the art is straight from the 80's dragonbane editions as they did manage to secure those rights.
It should work well. Really that FL GM's Guide is a great tool for any fantasy GM. The Encounters section is a gold mine of hooks and adventure concepts.
All-Mallard party. Just to spite you. 😁 Nah, seriously though... Loads of weird races in games. DnD has so much drek that shouldnt ever have made it past the editors... Totally fine to just ignore those that dont fit your vision. ^^
Damn, I played this campaign in the 80ies. Those two minotaurs are legendary amongst Swedish RPG enthusiasts.
I am really eager to see a magic only book.

Thank you for sharing! I look forward to this book to get a glimpse of the past as well.

Been thinking about using Forbidden lands stuff for Dragonbane 🤔

looks great!
Can you solo the new content/expansion?
For what level is this? I mean is it a beginner adventure or for more advanced ones?
It's for experienced adventurers, playing through the starter campaign is recommended
@@thegreycount Thanks for the answer! :)
Can you play Path of Glory solo?
Mallards are NOT allowed in our groups game PERIOD. Hands down the dumbest add on to a great system
Womp womp keep enjoying the stale cliche fantasy races
All-Mallard party. Just to spite you. 😁

The original was based on basic role playing which had Ducks in it
Every game needs a Howard!
