Chaosium has published several other “choose your own adventure” style solo adventures for use with Call of Cthulhu 7e in the “Alone Against The…” series. They’re all quite good.
I highly recommend you check out the actual keeper book and investigator books. They are TOP quality! This is a great starter, but I agree that handouts could have been easier.

It's a solid Starter set where they have kept costs low (Which is nice) but it's still just a gateway to the awesome world of Call of Cthulhu. I will disagree with you on the combat, there is a lot of combat in most adventures, the cliche of Cthulhu being a one-shot death fest where your characters go mad and die is really, really overblown.
Yeah, the full rules are great. We hope people use this product as a stepping stone to the core rules. Regarding combat, we can only speak from experience. Maybe we just suck, but there is always some poor bloke that dies horribly when we play! I'm sure campaign play would change that a bit, we mostly run this as one shots. I bought this....don't like it. After playing Alone Against the Flames, I still am not sure how to play this game. I feel disappointed, frustrated, and a waist of money. It might be better to get this for just the adventures.
Lovecrafts Cosmic horror invention is grand and dire, just not my taste. Find its too much of it imo, used and easter egged in alot of media. Kinda got tired of it all. I go for Vaesen( Væsen, Æ, Ø, Å is core nordic letters)= being. The nordic mythological horror tabletop rpg and it got an expansion covering irish and british nightmare fuel aswell☠️ Dark fantasy, gothic horror is my preference👻 Still all these darker genres is all equally viable for autumn, harvest 🎃and the spooky celebration of the deads season of Samhain ( celtic pagan roots ), All hallows eve ( christians taken take on it ) and Halloween ( jolly secular consumerism season and harvest of dosh )👹💰
We completely understand that Lovecraft and the Cthulhu mythos are not everyone's cup of tea. Vaesen looks AMAZING. We have the core rules and the most recently released expansion. Hopefully, we can find some time to cover it this spooky season. Thanks for dropping us a comment!
Well, there's no gender field on the sheet, which if there was then it would seem like a waste of space-usage to have both. I guess they decided to go with pronoun instead of gender? (Although I don't think people dealing with occult horrors in Arkham have time to worry about asking investigators for their pronouns when their lives are on the line, heh.)

I believe the dice colors are a bit of a tossup, as I got the old box a few years ago, but got green dice, not gray.

Yep. The blank sheets in the box have a space also, though they're just plain b/w instead of parchment look.
