I just got my first automatic watch today (Seiko 5 sports).. Thanks to you I got interested in watches.. Hopefully this will be the first of the many to come.
You just had a taste of beer. Soon you'll be shooting heroin. Seiko 5 was the starter drug for many of us. I'm referring to the the older ones that was more affordable but it's probably the same with the 5 sports.
Many will come, and when you’ll be spending thousands on beater watches like Tudors and Omegas to keep your good pieces safe, you’ll know you’re doomed.
Living in San Diego, the concept of "summer watch" never even occurred to me until recently. However, I have just ordered all the parts to build a custom Seiko with a striking resemblance to an Oyster Perpetual with a (not quite) Tiffany blue dial. So I guess I'll have a summer watch now.
@@JustFenix97 Which part? The Tiffany blue dial? Or the fact that I can build and service my own watches? Or maybe you're referring to my unwillingness to wait a year or more for something when there plenty of other options in the same price range I can (and do) have right now? Take your gatekeeping somewhere else.
I'm totally onboard with the concept of "Summer Watches", much like the concept of "Summer Fragrances". Watch options that are colorful, playful and sporty for the warmer months makes total sense. Not sure how I feel about mothballing them in the Autumn though . . .
Seeing some of the other watch TH-camrs putting together summer watch lists, I was eagerly anticipating the Teddy take. I must say, this did not disappoint! 👍
I have a Seiko Samurai Save the Ocean "Great White Shark" and I love it for the summer time. It has a brighter blue dial with ocean waves and a shark fin at the 8 o'clock indice. It was a "limited run" piece but they're definitely not hard to find with a small upcharge. Either way, I think any Samurai is a great buy! Awesome video and list Teddy!
I think “summer watch” is a thing. I’m finding that I enjoy a slightly larger watch when I’m wearing short sleeves in the warm weather (42-44mm). I definitely like slim and small (38-42mm) when wearing anything long sleeved. 40mm is my perfect spot. For me, lighter colors and a little more presence makes a great “summer watch”. Another great vid Teddy!
Thats the thing with g shock, they are really perfect summer watches, shock resistant, 200 wr, all kinds of different colors to choose from You could make it even more of a summer watch by choosing the solar version thus having to get outside more to charge it :D
I liked the color choices of the Doxa Sub 200, but thought the watch itself looked a little too plain for $1,000. However they released their retro 80's Sub 600T line last year with an angular case, 600M/2000FT of water resistance, choice of ceramic or steel bezel, and it comes with the US Navy no decompression table - probably a useless feature but makes it pretty cool. The bracelet is also not Doxa's usual beads of rice style, and it is very comfortable. I bought the professional (orange) with both the bracelet and the strap, and the ceramic bezel inlay and am very happy with it. The only major critique I have of it is the diver's extension isn't polished, and the rubber strap being like $300 was kind of a rip off. It's also kind of hard to replace the bracelet and remove/add links - definitely need a FINE strap tool to remove the bracelet. The Lug width is 20mm which makes it a lot easier to find aftermarket/NATO straps, and I believe the Sub 200 is 19mm which is very uncommon. For the extra like $500, I think you get a much better watch.
i have in summer the casio gx 56 a big red one, and a blue casio GA-1100, both 200m water resistant, can handle sports...when in job i use smaller older 35mm und 36mm watches with leather straps, they are light , a 1965 Zenith, a 1968 Omega....here we have the last years up to 35° C ( 95° F)...and this in the mittle of EU....when the temperature goes down to normal i wear the heavier steelwatches, Omega, Longines, Oris.... thank you for your videos, they are different, they are for watchlovers, not only rolex-patek-blabla.....i really enjoy.. greets BM
I bought one of the green Oris Cotton Candy's this week and it is very much a summer watch. It really pops in the sunlight and makes me feel very "Miami"
I think the explorer 2 is a fantastic summer watch. The polar dial withstands the harsh summer glare and the GMT hand is great for summer traveling. Pop it on a oysterflex and you’re set!
Good timing. I just picked up a Seiko King Turtle SRPG19 today, and I'm going to be taking it over to my friend's lake house for the rest of the week starting tomorrow.
Summer watches may not be a proper "role" when people talk about just watches in general, but actually, it could totally be a thing in hotter regions of the Earth. Great vid.
I just bought the Casioak in the blue/grey colour and I absolutely love it, it's so tactile and comfortable. The perfect winter watch for your antipodean friends down here in 'Straya👍👍nte
Where I am from, the months between June and September is known as swamp ass season with highs of 99 and 80% humidity. Keep up the great work Teddy, you are pumping out some seriously good content. My next watch is going to be that new Seiko 5 GMT SSK003. I'm sure you will do a review on it. Cheers
I was in a market for a summer watch for the first time this year, and I managed to find a Dan Henry 1970 super compressor inspired diver, white-blue with a hint of orange and a mesh bracelet. So fresh and shiny, reflecting the sun's rays from the ocean. Insane value for the (little) money imo.
I'm hugely in with summer watches. Even changing most of my straps to nato's and making them more comfortable and sporty. I love coloured dials on divers. My favourite is the squale 1521 blue ocean. Great case and awesome dials. I also like white dials in the summer.
I have a vintage Zenith day-date set in gold with a crocodile strap. If it’s over 50 degrees, I don’t wear it because of that strap. This category is absolutely essential - since in Denver, there’s like two months where it doesn’t get over 50.. nice video!
I know Panerai are not in vogue, but I recently picked up the 44m white dial submersible (Pam1226). It’s overpriced, true watch people are annoyed about the movement, but I’ve been a sucker for Panerai for 20 years and it’s an absolute strap monster & perfect for the summer.
I just modified a Seiko Turtle by swapping out a grey dial with a black “Monster” dial, and added a black ceramic bezel. WOW! Seiko might not make the “best” watches on the planet…but they make the most fun to own. Nice list Teddy. That Devil Diver was a nice addition.
I want a slimmer dive watch to snorkel and be with everyday. I am thinking of Oris 65 at 36 mm but the color i am looking for is the Rey with the blue glow markers. Can u help me find one?
Don't forget to stay tuned folks where this young talented fashion tipster Teddy will unveil his hotpicks for fall and winter. You heard it here first folks! Love you Teddy 💖
I'm in Northern Illinois and around September of every year I get the drive to pickup another expensive watch. Alos took up watchmaking a few years ago so I now got another winter hobbie when it gets cold.
Maybe it’s just me but… I would love to get your opinion on the Shark Freestyle Surf Watch. I definitely want to consider a nice digital dive watch that isn’t as big as the Casio GA2100 (CasiOak). I already have the CasiOak, I’m just looking for another DIGITAL dive watch that is smaller and similar to the Casio A168. The Shark Freestyle is a watch I see a lot in my town, but I can’t tell for certain if it’s worth the purchase. Thanks, Teddy!
Yes, due to my aquatic nature, I will definitely visit an aquatic environment, “honey are you ready to hit the aquatic environment or what!?” I kid, great video @Teddy thanks for making it!
Comment and question. I think I need to add the mint Traksa freediver to my collection. Something about the mint is drawing me in. Question. I have a bunch of “inexpensive” watches that are OLD but have high significance value to me (high school watch, moms high school watch, etc). I don’t necessarily want to show them so what is the best way to store them. A leather pouch? But wont that rust the case? An oiled canvas? I am looking for suggestions please.
Love your videos Teddy, got into watching after reading about the SKX online. Now own a Hamilton Khaki Mechanical and a SKX013 Your videos helped me so much making decisions on what to buy so far!
Wow, that was the fastest I have heard you talk ! Must say you put a lot ( information and work) nto your videos. Summer watches are a part of my collection…. Actually I have 2 that you featured and a few more that get more wrist time in the summer. I my add the Doxa blue/ blue …it seams like a good value. Thanks
Hi Teddy! I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't like wearing steel bracelets (typically the one of a diver watch) during summer. I understand that sweat and water are not ideal for leather, therefore they make sense for summer. But the fact they can't be adjusted, they do feel more sticky and heavier also. So I prefer leather bracelets for summer and steel bracelets for winter usually. Am I weird?
really nice watches, especially because there are a lot of options under 1grand it is not a secret that mostly everyone (not a watch geek) knows about rolex, but e.g. Traska may surprise by look and feel comparing to its price
I enjoy my Seikos (dress or diver 5s) gmt master 2 or Tissot seastar 80 on rubber straps..i live way south of Spain (in august it can reach almost 122°F🥵) and ive got a couple nylon woven straps which are awesomely snug and comfy as well x)
About the Snorkel 666 - you can get the original Accutron 218 Deep Sea for 800-1000USD. Significantly cooler watch, looks better. Of cource, the lume would be long done, and it would need a service and pressure test before going in the water.
I only have one watch that's above 40mm and that is my Seiko Turtle (the STO edition with the same dial as the Samurai in this video) And that's my summer watch. But there's a problem: the sunburn 🤣😂 changing over to the 36mm at the evening looks kind of funny when you're sunburned except for on the left wrist where a 9mm bigger watch used to sit during the day. I usually wear 40mm at the most even tho I'm a big guy and have a pretty big wrist. But the Turtle is the Turtle.
Another great curation thanks Teddy! I thought you might include a few from the Farer micro brand too as colours are eye popping and perfect for summer
The only watch that worth wearing (low budget )for something different for summer from this list is traska... if you want to go even more crazy go for the Christopher Ward - C60 Trident Bronze ...looks like oris pastel from this list but its much better in my opinion and half the price.. Something about that color way, in the wise words of Kevin - eech-ee-wah-wah-carrumba! Thanks again
I have an Astor & Banks and the bracelet is one of my all time favs. The crown is a QC issues for sure. It sticks, does not go in and out smoothly and the company has not responded to my requests about it... lovely watch but because of the lack of service I'd recommend people to some of the other options here.
You're right Teddy, summer watch is not really a technical thing.... I dare you to make a video about watches for hairy wrists ! I'm sure a lot of us will appreciate !
Here in Arizona, summer is pretty intense. I find myself wearing my CasiOak or my other watches on a nato strap for comfort. Unless I’m going to be indoors all day.
Hey Teddy, what a great idea, summer watches. You are right it's a good time to wear a watch with a colorful dial. I love the Zodiac with the Watermelon design although it may not be for everyone. Great job on this video.
I just got my first automatic watch today (Seiko 5 sports).. Thanks to you I got interested in watches.. Hopefully this will be the first of the many to come.

Oris is sooo cool right now. I like how they’ve positioned themselves. The cotton candy dial is basically summer in a watch… want!

Just received the Casioak today (same ref.) for $73. Looks like I'm set for summer with the Teddy stamp of approval!
It’s a fun watch. Especially for the money, don’t think you can go wrong. Glad they released a solar model as well, probably grab a few as gifts
