    Great vid men - I recently purchased an R53. I have been using inpa, ista, ncs on my x5 e70. I can't find an ista 5.00 which is the only version for R53 - do you mind sharing your ista version? :)

    What version of INPA, EDIABAS is this? I installed INPA 5.06, both the battery and the Igition dots are black which means the cable is communicating with my R53. I get error message "IFH-000: DATATRANSMISSION TO INTEFACE DISTURBED. Program will be stopped," when I select the Egnine, EMS2K. Also, in main INPA menu, selecting "info" button, the information screen indicates "EDIABAS" Ini path:??????????, Ecu path:????????? and Interface:???????????? What does it mean? Not sure if you are still using INPA, any help would be appreciated!!! I want to reset adapations on my R53. Thanks!

    I've done a remap and pops and bangs tune on mine, is this going to remove the remap?

    Trying to do this on an R50 2005 Mini. Followed a guide to install INPA and when I click EMS2K I get an error about illegal ECU format. Did you have to solder your 7 and 8 pins for your cable? That was a suggestion I got. Wondering if you had to do that. Thank you.

      pdxDavid Hi, my cable came with the software. The cable is from bmw diagnostics on eBay. The cable is for BMW and Mini models from 1995-2006. Hope that helps. I didn’t have to solder anything.

    Is it gonna work in a mini r53 jcw ? I’m wondering if it is different because the jcw additional control unit. Thanks

      andrea piasentin Yes. Inpa is a software that will only communicate with bmw cars. It will work exactly the same across Bmw and Mini Vehicle’s. All mini years from 2001 to 2010 R50 to R56 n14. I think you can get the n18 to work with updated Datan files. Also the jcw r53 is the exact same as the r53 but with performance bolt on’s and a different map for more tables and to suit injectors. There is no additional control unit the jcw has over the non jcw r53.

      The software is free from bimmergeeks. Make sure you find the latest sp-daten files.

    Thanks this video gives me a little more confidence to try INPA. I re-timed my R56 so probably need adaption resets.
    Hey, I noticed a menu about steering wheel buttons. The last owner of my cart put a steering wheel with buttons on, even though the car wasn't specd for it and they do nothing. Any idea if I can simply activate those button functions with INPA?

      Simon A INPA is for diagnosing. You will want NCS dummy and NCS expert to code that into the car.

      Simon A as it’s all in German. You use ncs expert you read the module you would like to code. Use ncs dummy to read the code lines and it’s essentially is like a tick box on the software. Then you save it then re upload it to the cars module. That’s a simple explanation. There will be a fue videos on TH-cam that you can follow.

    When replacing the throttle body (R53 Mini) it is required to reset the throttle body adaptation otherwise it may not drive or cause the EML to go on accompanied with limp mode driving. Is the reset method you show useful for that task? Service manual says reset may cause loss of throttle response and poor run condition, which in that case requires relearn procedure, do you know if this applies to R53 2006 model?

      tristeng5 Yeah, reset ECT adaptions. Clear any faults and go for a cruise for 10-15 minutes.

      tristeng5 never had to replace mine. But yes this will calibrate the voltage reading of the new throttle body. The ECU will reset the throttle adaptation. What this does is allow the ECU to relearn the correct fully closed and fully open positions.

    You realise those adaptations are good for the engine? Once mods are installed they alter air to fuel ratios and the ECU creates the adaptations to optimise engine performance. Once you install new mods, this should be done once and then left for the car to learn and trim each setting

      Elliot regarding fuel adapt yes to a certain degree this is correct. But it’s not something I think is safe to rely on. If the car is heavily modified then the car tune should always suit the mods with little to no adaption compensation needed. For example with the bytetronik software on a tuned car with a cat cam we always tell it to clear the short term adaptations once key on. This then can helps keep the tune how we want it. And keep consistency. If the cars maintained well and tuned right you should see close to 0 adaptations. On a stock car Iv noticed they do change which is not a bad thing but after a while I like to give it a clean sheet just to start fresh with a well running engine to keep peak performance.
