    Hello sir . I just got a boat and it came with the same motor . I got a new gas tank new battery but when I plugged all in to see if the motor start . There was gas pouring out thru the bottom part of the carburetor. Do you know why would that be ? Is the carburetor supposed to have such a constant high flow of gas without even cranking the engine?

      Sounds like the floats are sticking or the o ring in the seat has perished

      @peteramberley9952 thank you . I figured I'd just refurbish the entire carburetor

    Nice video.. I have the 2008 Yamaha 50 TLR and I just rebuilt the carbs. I had to drill out the brass plugs to get to the pilot screws.. I replaced them with the new ones in the kit but my manual doesn't say what the setting would be for each carb. does anyone know how many turns I should back them out for each carb? Thanks !

      The air screws I would turn them out 1an3/4 turns then tune them when engine is runing

    i have the same carburator , how do you ajust the float ? thanks

    • @peteramberley9952
      @peteramberley9952  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When you hold the carb upside down the floats should sit parellel with the base of the carb. You can try a blow down the fuel pipe to see if the fuel shut off is sealing correctly. You can bend the little brass tab the wire clips over too adjust it

    I have 70 hp the problem is now my starter cannot turn on and there is no connection at all to the engine to turn on, and also unable to turn on and off this machine how to help me sir

    • @peteramberley9952
      @peteramberley9952  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      First you need to check your getting 12.volts at the starter and have a good ground supply. Then check your getting a live signal from the solanoid. You have to start there and work back. Could be bad wire connections from salty air or bad neutral safety switch or ignition switch

    Is that working rough still ???

    I know this video is old but I have a similar engine. I rebuilt carbs but boat was still running rough at idle and bogged down in the water. Would that diaphragm in the choke affect this? Mine doesn’t have adjustments on the carburetor as yours does. My motor is rough idling and spitting and sputtering.

      It is showing spark to all 3 but the lower one doesn’t seem to affect the engine if you pull it. I’m at a loss as to what to do next

      @@brucelatta4159 do a compression test on all 3 cylinders first, then you know mechanically it's OK, it could be a multitude of things that could cause this problem, if compression is good try swoping a coil over with the bottom cyl, not just the wire and see if it make a difference, what colour are your plugs? Are they all the same colour? That spot is normally a lean spit, whit / light brown burning plug, spray some easy start arround the engine with it running it Cound be a vacume leak arround one of the rubber hoses as they crack and split. It could be the read valves not closing, or could be the carbs are worn and it sucking in thru the throttle butterfly shafts. Sorry for waffling on but if your ve taken the carbs off and ultrasonic ally cleaned them and changed the coldstart diaphram then try the easy start sea if you have a vacume leak

      peter amberley the lower float position seems off from the other 2. When I put the needle valve in and screw the float assembly down it pulls it up. Would that affect this? Compression on all 3 was 95-100. I swapped coils and that didn’t change anything. The plugs are brownish. The lower seemed to be washed clean the other day as almost it was over fueling. Would that float issue cause that? The next check I guess will be a vacuum leak. I swapped fuel pumps and that didn’t help. I checked the choke diaphragm and it looked brand new. I appreciate your quick response and as far as bouncing around I am beating my head into the wall. Everything I check seems to be normal. I took it out the other day to the water and it didn’t hardly run at all.

      @@brucelatta4159 yes if the carbs over fueling that would mak it run rough and wash out the plug, when you turn the carb upside down the float S should sit parellel to the base of the carb bottom, blow down the fuel hose to make sure its shuting off fully. But an over full fuel bowl will make it run shit

    • @brucelatta4159
      @brucelatta4159 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      peter amberley when I turn the bowl upside down the floats on the upper 2 set parallel. The bottom float is at about a 30 degree angle or so from the bowl. I’m hoping this float is the reason it was rough idling and in the water wouldn’t run for anything. I had to order a float because it appears from all checks that the float is warped back where the rod runs through and it screws into the carb. Again thanks for your quick responses. I will let you know if this fixes my issue.

    Float hight has to be set and not just level with body
