In local news stories about kids and lemonade stands, every time someone raises a ruckus about a kid with a lemonade stand, on and off duly police show up and buy that lemonade. No one likes bullies who go after kids.

reminds me of a story where a kid ran a hotdog stand, someone called the cops and the health inspector. The cops and the health inspector show up, check the stand, leave and then come back with materials and they worked together with the kid and made his stand pass code

I just don't get people trying to quash entrepreneurial spirit. I heard of a young teen who mowed lawns for his neighbors and the *IRS* went after him! Good grief!
I lived in an apartment building across the street from a cluster of subsidized housing, mostly single mothers. I was driving back from class one day when I saw a couple kids sitting on the curb on my side of the road with a plastic bag. I stopped and asked if they were okay. Turned out they were visiting their grandma and decided to sell plums from her fridge. I thought that was cute, so I parked my car, grabbed a quarter, and bought the least mushy of the plums. Best quarter I ever spent.

I would have told the bus driver in no uncertain terms to get this bus OUT of the Ambulance Bay RIGHT FRIGGING NOW!!! and once he did so and parked a little down the road so the bus wasn't blocking everything, I'd then place both the Driver AND the Celebrity under Arrest for Criminal Negligence (for blocking access to the bay while an Ambulance was trying to get in with an unresponsive patient which delayed the treatment of that Patient), Disobeying an Officer (for not moving the bus when told to do so) and the Driver would also get a Parking Ticket for blocking the bay...If there are any other Crimes they can be Ticketed/Charged with, I'd hammer them with those as well...You might be a Rich & Famous Celebrity, but that doesn't give you the Right to break the Law and/or endanger the lives of other people...

The lemonade stand story reminds me of something that happened to me when I was a kid. I was around 9 or 10 y/o and some friends and I set up a stand to sell some toys we didn’t want in our neighborhood. Some guy came up to us and yelled at us asking if we had a permit to sell and if not what we’re doing was illegal. Our parents weren’t there, so we had no one to stand up for us. He would then take a bag of sand and as he was opening the valve would gently empty a small bag of the sand into the water flow, effectively sand blasting whatever part of the car the water was hitting. People quickly stopped parking in front of hydrants.

[uplifting story] In another case almost just like this, local law enforcement that responded to the call (and I S*** you not here!) tore down the old stand only to rebuild it so it was up to code. They added a sink, self contained running water supply, ensured it adhered to all health codes, and even helped the young entrepreneur get it inspected & certified with both a Business & Sales Tax license! The lemonade stand Karen just unlocked a core memory. Idk how old I was, but somewhere between middle school and early high school, my friend and I were walking my family's golden retriever, RIP she was the best pupper, and we were walking around the pond in my friends condo area. Pup saw the ducks in the pond and somehow got away to swim after them. Seeing this, you have 3 options. I walked my three different Bouviers in a public park for more than twenty seven years, without any problems. I got to know the few people who had houses on one side of the park, and enjoyed hanging out with other dog owners and watching the kids' baseball games in the summer. One of the couples I got to know really well, had to sell their house due to illness and unfortunately awful people moved in. They had a cute dog they hardly ever walked, who barked all the time. They complained to City Hall their first summer there, about the baseball court and pool, close to their property being too noisy. They should have thought about that before they moved in. They actually got the baseball games stopped, the pool stayed open. Not only that, the city locked all the doors to the baseball enclosure, so we couldn't use it for our dogs to run in anymore either. We complained and got the court opened again a few years later. I heard from other dog owners how awful this couple was all the time. One afternoon I finally ran into the male half and his dog, while walking my dog Elsa. It was the first time in a week we had been on a walk. I had fallen down my basement stairs, back first and was still limping from also cracking my knee on the way down. When this man saw me, he moved to the side of the wide path and reeled in his dog on an ordinary thick rope, so long it was wrapped over his shoulder, like a rolled up hose. Else didn't acknowledge his dog at all, she never bothered with other dogs, and I limped after her, not paying attention to this weird looking man. As I limped by him this guy insulted me for not walking properly, which shocked me. I told him to mind his own business and limped on. He said a few more things about my dog being vicious, which was ridiculous, and that I should learn to walk like a normal person. He then followed me the length of the path and then walked into his backyard across from the baseball court. I had met the weirdo I had heard so much about. He continued to yell at me over his fence - a real nut job.

The celebrity being put in her place by a doctor in Story 2 reminds me of something that happened to my grandfather in the mid-1970s. He was a medical doctor, and worked at the medical center of a major university in the Midwest. The university's football program was one of the best in the country at the time, and their starting quarterback was very talented (he later led an NFL team to a Super Bowl appearance), but had a giant ego about it. I'll call him "CQ" for "Conceited Quarterback". One day, CQ went to the medical center for a health checkup. The place was busy, with a fairly long line. CQ just strutted to the front of the line and asked how soon a doctor would be available. The secretary politely asked him to go to the back of the line and wait his turn. "But I'm CQ!" he protested. "And I'm Julie!" the secretary responded. "It's nice to meet you! Now please go to the back of the line!" CQ bad-temperedly stomped to the back of the line. As luck would have it, my grandfather was the doctor who got to give CQ his checkup. CQ complained about the secretary's treatment of him, and was furious when my grandfather took her side. He and some of his buddies on the team tried to organize a boycott of the medical center, but the football coach found out about it and immediately put a stop to it.

Soccer story: What the hell was the coach thinking to allow this spoiled toddler to get away with this? Was this a private school and rich parents? What's the story? Because had I been the coach, I would have thrown her off the team or at least suspended her for several upcoming games at a minimum! If she still refused to leave the field, I would have forfeited the game, with her off the team just to teach her a lesson. I would have apologized to the rest of the team for the forfeit but placed the blame squarely where it belonged. She obviously knew the coach was a pushover with no power.

The lemonade story reminds me of my first encounter with a Karen. I was early teens, running a charity tombola at my school fair. We had a bunch of donated prizes, mostly films or games, sweets and cola. As it happened, one of the cola packs had been dropped, denting but not breaching a few of the cans. Anyway, a few hours in, a woman came up to the stall to complain, that her son couldn't drink the cola he won. It was one of the dented cans, the tab had failed to fully open, only partially. I wasn't prepared for this sort of confrontation as she demanded a new one. I tried to reason that as a prize from a random draw, you kinda, get or don't get, what you draw. That to give her a new one meant someone would draw a winning ticket, without winning, and that there was a stall handing out tea in little cardboard cups, and could probably give her one to drain the can into. But she was having none of it. I wasn't confident enough to stand my ground, and she was blocking people, so reluctantly I gave in. And then with barely any pressure against the metal, pushed the can fully open, finishing what the tab had started, and drank it

Calling the cops on a 10-year-old over lemonade? Why? The kid is just selling lemonade to get the money for the children's hospital. It isn't harming anyone.

She thought that she owned the neighborhood and if you wanted to do something like run a lemonade stand you would have to go up to her and ask "Mommy, may I?". Personally I would've told her that if she didn't stay in her lane and know her place that I was going to re-educate her and teach her what happens to loudmouth dipshits that think they are above everyone else.

My sainted grandmother always said, "We judge others by what we would do in that situation." Why do I suspect Karen ran a scam lemonade stand in her youth?

I knew a local policeman who used to tell a good story. One night his sergeant was out cruising and a truck in the oncoming lane passed him with his fog lights and a blinding light bar illuminated. The sergeant pulled the truck over and was going to explain that the light bar is for off-roading and that the state has a law that only allows 4 lights on the front of a vehicle. The kid began cussing, doing the "do you know who my Dad is?" routine, etc. So, instead of giving him a warning, the officer began counting the individual LED bulbs in the light bar. There were around 20 LEDs. The officer wrote the kid a ticket for having 20 excessive lights. When the kid went to court, the judge made the ticket "stick" at a cost of $100 per bulb.

I was Shania Twain in a small hospital in north Georgia. A friend was a nurse on duty in the ER and told me the whole story. Like OP, I never listened to another thing from her.

Story #2, that "goalie" should have been yellow carded, then red carded, and then kicked off the team for unsportsmanlike behavior. Do NOT give in to children throwing tantrums! Especially not teenagers!

Story 2: Jennifer Lopez? Cause we shouldn't be fooled by the rocks that she got right?
Story 3: this is where the fans have lower though the word "Boo"
Story 4: Best thing the cops could do is radio for a rotation... Lights and all so Karen can see them all quench their thirst at the lemonade stand.
Story 5: what kind of 17 year old has to work at 5am?

This was in the late 80 or early 90s. There was a picture in the local newspaper. A BMW was parked in front of a fire hydrant. The fireman for the widows down on both sides of the car attached the hose the the hydrant and ran it through the open windows.
