Mine keeps freezing on game startup, NO it's not freezing on the menu, NO not all games just some games, like NFS Rivals, Saints Row IV, Dead Space 3 etc. if anyone can help with this issue that would be great.

Christian Green if covid19 weren’t happening and the range was open I would be taking my POS ps3 to the range for target practice because nothing is working at all.

Matthew Flores Thank you for the response. I did manage to get the ps3 working again. The issue with no image happens randomly and usually I need to go threw all of the reboot and power disconnects for a couple hours before it finally give me anything on the screen. If it happen’s again which it probably will, I will make a video and post it to my youtube page.

Funny how there's dozens of these exact and same videos on here telling the same thing EXCEPT not one of them answers, can answer, or doesn't even notice what happens when we get stuck on 'Preparing... Please wait.' I'm trying NOT to delete every ounce of 7 years of memory for my ps3 or go out and buy $60 on equipment that isn't worth the trouble of restarting over.
@Wiselyx Sadly. I ended up having to wipe my ps3 and all my memory on it. The crappy part being that I didn't have ps plus to back up my save files at the time so that all went too. Now the good news is that I got a ps4 not too long after I wiped my ps3, and now I own a ps5! I have PS Plus now too so this for sure won't be happening again! I still restarted some ps3 games and go back time to time too to play it too! Thanks for the advice anyways though!

DUDE!!! You're AWESOME!!! You have no idea how long I've been struggling with extra fans and basically hacking my PS3 casing full of holes for more cold air intake and nothing worked except for getting more and more frustrated. And finally after many hours of swearing and watching video after video to fix the overheating problem I eventually got to your video..... Problem solved!!! Wish I found it before all the drilling and extra fans though..... Thanks man!! :D

AFTER TRYINF 3 and 4 reboots , it's bc of your internet connection , don't connect to a hotel or hotspot connects Sony doesn't support it only connect to a home wifi, if it's still freezing up Connect your PS3 with a Ethernet cable and turn it off and back on and see what happens

Mine still freezing. It seems to be only when system has been on for a while,and gets real hot! Cause it plays well, for the first few hrs. Then starts freezing. Idk.. guess I gotta upgrade to ps4. But dang it..I got over 100 ps3 games, that I love playing!

I did this and it said to conect the controller using the usb .. but it didn't worked 😖😔 the red lights on the controller starts flashing but thats it.... I pressed the ps button but nothing happened please help!!!!! What do I do??? ..... "(the controller is not the original one )"
If ur controller starts blinking over and over its because ur controller isn't assigned to ur console. Look at the back of ur controller and there should be a hole, click it with something small and connect it and it will work
I had the same problem a while back
I am having the same issue however my controller is connected to the console and will show it as controller one if started up regularly but as soon as I get to the screen about connecting with the cable it starts blinking
@@jonathonmcmahan1576 yeah it will do that check the back of your controller there should be a little hole, click it somehow with a pin or something and that will reconfigure it, after plug it in n it should be ight

restoring my file system probably works by now but I just restored my default setting since I have a new network after my ps3 froze

You fool, you weren't supposed to say yes to checking for corrupted Data.
You either put down 'Restore File System' or 'Rebuild Database'..

@@thirdanimator3347 I don't know how, but the PS3 works now. I let it sit in a box for 2 years and booted it up recently just for old times sake, and it actually worked. I have no idea what changed, but I think me being a "fool" may have been for the best, lol.
My others games don't freeze but GTA 5 does so i tired to restore file and it found a corrupted file on 1.27 update for GTA 5
just restore PS3 system yes u will lose data but your PS3 will be fixed but u not done yet do a quick format then update your PS3 to the lastest firmware manually with a USB drive or via internet connection if you on the lastest firmware don't worry bout it your done ( me myself don't worry about losing data I always back up data) never know what happens

You need a sony controller. Unfortunately most 3rd party controllers will not work for this process.😫

Restore file system didn't work for me, Restore PS3 system did work. Just had to reconnect the wireless internet

Then A, ur games r severely scratched. B, delete the specific games data from game data utility or start over n wipe it all out after u backup ur game saves n such or C buy a new 2.5 inch Sata hard drive for ur PS3. Ps3 only supports a maximum of 1TB internal Sata drive. Any laptop drive will do too as long as it's a 2.5 inch Sata and is 1TB or less
After I select the #3 restore file system, it just says "preparing... Please wait" . the icon on top right corner is turning.. But nothing is happening for about 2 hours now.
I did the #5 thats the only one that would work. Everything deleted but I went to play store and add back everything I had
Thanks for you vote of confidence to reset it factory reset. I had to go through the same thing you did, the only way to get it back on was to click #5
do you still have all your progress? is any of your music , photos or videos deleted
@@greyyalmir7582 Yes everything will get deleted including your game saves, your playlists, photos, videos, music etc. It will pretty much be like you just bought a brand new PS3 and just started using it. Sorry bro.

I did this and my ps3 still freezes while I try to play MW2, it freezes when i die, when i finish a mission and sometimes when i open a mission, does anybody know if it is a disc probem or the ps3 problem? I have already tried this method, and i've already used the toothpaste method on the cd

Brisa Torres i had a problem like that with an uncharted game a while back, my game had no scratches at all but it was defective somehow. I exchanged it for a new one and problem solved.

Sorry for late reply. Been extremely busy. Depends how much is on the system how long it'd take... but it's always best to backup ur games n settings on a USB external hard drive.
People do not understand. If 3 or 6 game discs freeze, it is mostly the game discs, not your console. Common sense.
It freezes its getting to how hot need to clean it out they accumulate alot of dust inside
I'm trying to see if this will bring my data back because I saved on the wrong data, but I got out of the game before it could finish, so I was thinking maybe this could help. Maybe it will, maybe not, but I find that it is at least worth a try considering I wasted 50 hours in the game. If it won't work, I'll restart the game from the beginning. Thank you Sir.

Make sure your console has proper ventilation so it doesn't overheat and you clean all the dust out of it

Might have nailed the issue for me. Noticed one of my controllers malfunctioning when pressing up/down keys. Then, noticed the system freezing more and more. First on games, then on streaming video. Did the Restore File System, told me it was corrupted during the process, fired it up after Restore and the bad controller is working normally. Must have been a Bluetooth issue like you said at the end of the video. Thanks for the help!!
