If you the biggest channel then whybput then click bait caption under the thumbnail ???? He didn't kill heimdall for bullying Atreus, he killed him because he wouldn't back down. Just saying, make sure you get the context right before claiming to be the "biggest channel".
Yup as someone who played the og god of wars with my uncle at his house seeing Ghost of Sparta Kratos again even for this moment was nostalgic. He realized why gods feared this man for years
Heimdall is a perfect example of “all talent No Skill” so arrogant and reliant on his powers that the moment someone finds a way to confuse and question his powers his entire sense of self just exploded
His bifrost attacks are terrible, his power move can be interrupted real good, his attacks can all be blocked or dodged instead of great sweeping attacks that can't be dodged away from, and how about a closing bifrost ring so that you can't Dodge away from it, but you can't really block it from every direction. And oh that spear, throw it away, drop it, you should have read the intent that it's going to explode or had pattern recognition see the slamming and glowing of the spear and then know that the one that was thrown would then explode. Be lucky you are given so much as the very air you breathe, go get a lottery ticket considering that not only are you even allowed to wear clothes, but those clothes actually have partial armor on them. Just go and pull up to the resident of the United States of America with an M1A to Abrams Barrel in your hands if you can even lift it, you are able to consume that Apple which therefore implies you are allowed to consume it. Be thankful you're even allowed to even be aware of the very existence of the bifrost outside of it is something that gets used by individuals from the Valhalla to fight for Asgard. Too bad the explosion which cannot be any greater than squeezing a balloon so much it pops managed to blow off your arm, and do so much damage to the bone, veins, muscle, and nerves that there's nothing left but blood and or other red stuff which would suggest that it's been entirely vaporized or been blown into such small chunks that they're not even 1 pixel big. How did you not rip your skin off when you caught an arrow?Hmm? And oh boy this ego just isn't the kind of ego that would get you much of anywhere, not like striking the lightning daughter the way you did would have actually been viable compared to kicking, punching, gouging out the eyes, but dodging out the eyes would have had blowback. Good thing that she didn't get you with that lightning which follows no mind of its own, and she probably can't control it consciously. Ability useless, and it's not that your bones didn't come apart because they are like cinder blocks where they have terrible tensile strength, but have great compressional strength. There was nothing left bigger than a pixel besides the red stuff which is probably just blood. This means that when the pieces that were blown apart by tensile strength and up coming into contact with the other pieces, they slam into each other, also the tensile strength thing is applicable to like a thin ring of maybe oneself sickness, the rest of it is just him having his tissues be pushed by the force of the explosion. If you can even call something this pitiful, and cold and explosion. How did he not have his arm get torn off when he was supporting the entire weight of boy? Was it because his muscles were actually doing something? A vanilla, garden variety European could floor you. I probably could, and I haven't done my running or I am fist in pretty much the whole month besides a few stuff which is honestly a fraction of what my actual routine would be. And this is mostly because I am so unaware, I don't know how I move my arms, mouth, fingers, I don't even know what emotion I'm feeling until I am externally exhibiting this emotion. There is no intent in this brain for you to read, no intent whatsoever and if you can read my thoughts, prepare for intense mental things. I'm not even sure if you would get issues from all of it, you might have questions about you, questions about me, questions about reality itself, and discover things about the universe your feeble brain wasn't even capable of processing, and then you might get some intense mental Trauma from me because oh I know from experience ignorance is bliss. I may not be able to feel the emotion until I have a reaction from my emotion, but I understand emotions. Also apparently furry force is considered to be tame, just look at episode 1 and then see if you were brain is capable of imagining what would make that be tame in comparison. The human brain works with remixing old ideas and experiences, so just think about certain mythologies for a bit. Your brain probably doesn't have the necessary bits and pieces of information to create the adequate remix tape to make furry Force look tame. Be glad that Loki has been taught control, be glad you didn't cause any actual harm to him.
I love that you can tell that Heimdall isn't used to actually getting hit and being in pain. He's so used to dodging every blow that when one does land it hurts badly. Amazing level of detail in this game.
Heimdall: he lost his cool, ripped my arm off and choked me to death! Helios, Poseidon, Hades, Zeus, Chronos, Gaia, Perseus and Hermes: how cute, did he hug you as well?
The fact that Kratos gave Heimdall so many chances to walk away shows how much Kratos has mellowed since destroying the Greek Pantheon. Heimdall couldn’t leave it alone, and Kratos had no choice.
True. The old Kratos would have only given that arrogant asshat ONE chance to just walk away (if even that depending on how bad he pissed him off). Then when he didn't walk away and went to push his luck Kratos would have proceeded to introduce Heimdall to a true Kratos style ass kicking/beatdown. Especially when he got the bright friggin' idea to threaten his son in front of him.
"Video games appeal to the male fantasies." The male fantasies: Liquidating your son's bully. Resurrecting his puppy. Building healthy friendships. Making peace with yourself.
Kratos: bodies the Titans Kratos: runs Zeus' fade Kratos: wipes out the Olympian Pantheon Heimdall: "okay, show me what you got." Kratos: "....are you sure about this?"
@@extrapowergaming4509 except for Hera who just called Pandora a whore, and the only thing aprodite was in the way of was kratos getting through the game without getting laid
A bit of Kratos losing control in this fight would've been great. Still, there's something even more threatening about the methodical dismemberment and slaughter. Before, Kratos just swung fists, now, he's putting thought into every single way he's going to destroy whoever he's fighting. Still would have liked to see Heimdick kiss the ground a little more though, turn his face into paste
When Kratos takes a moment to ponder his loss of control after killing Heimdall, I couldn't help but stare in awe. The light returns to his eyes as he realizes, in that moment, he couldn't be better than the monster he knows himself to be. The rage took him to the point where he wore the same face as he did when he killed the Greek Pantheon. Lovely details all around and this game deserves all the love it gets.
The fact that his face was so dark before he got back to his senses is what I’ll call “the berserk face” Because he wasn’t himself when he was making that expression, feeling that emotion hiding his true self with the nightmare bringer he became years ago that he tried to hide like his scars in the first game by hiding his power
I really liked it because the initial brief scowl he had when the camera pans up towards him was a tribute to the OG Kratos's scowl. That was a brilliant touch by SMS.
I love the fact that during the fight, he says "Pain is not as bad as I remember." and then that bravado all goes away as soon as the spear goes through his arm.
@@XxNoMinDxX the reason kratos gives his opponents multiple chances to walk away is because he does not like how he was before and tries to avoid becoming that god again.
I've seen people think this kill wasn't super brutal, but I think this is the first time we've seen Kratos kill in such an intimate way. All his past God kills are brutal, full of dismemberment and blood and guts. This is just one man strangling another until thr light leaves his eyes and never hesitating for a second once he commits to it. I think it's brutal in its own right
Your right in most regards. Physical brutality in a kill is one thing because your full body and mind aren't really 100 percent into the kill. But choosing to kill in a way to look someone else in the eyes and watch as their life leaves their body is honestly probably the most brutal way to go because in that moment Kratos wanted nothing more than to end dudes life. Kratos could have ended dudes life quickly but chose to end it brutally slow.
I mean it's obvious why this isn't as brutal... Kratos just slipped up a tiny bit. This was a glimpse of the god he used to be. And Norse Gods should be thankful they only caught a glimpse of him.
I love how Mimir was shocked when he saw that peace of monster in Kratos when he was smashing Haimdall head on the ground. Imagine how terrifyining it would be for him if he saw how brutal was Kratos for a Greek Gods.
@@mowlye6790 Maybe and maybe not. Mimir said that the Greek Gods that Kratos killed had it coming. What the Greek Gods did to Kratos and so many others was beyond cruel and brutal in many ways. In many of those victims' eyes what Kratos did was not only justified but well deserved on many levels.
Back when Heimdall sees into Thor's eyes what he will do to him, he said that Thor is a very sick man. But when he sees into Kratos, he said that he is a Monster. Which means that Kratos is thinking to do much much worse than what Thor. Like, Old Kratos.
nah i dont think he said that for any particular reason but if he did its probably cuz he saw his past actions like ending the greek gods and all of greece
@@ridgefrost He probably see what he did to Hermes who was like Heimdall. Hermes had it far worse, since Kratos literally chop him limb by limb for get his boots as he tries to flee away, before literally chop him in half and throw him out.
@@vijaysolanki4624 Exactly, he was genuinely acknowledging Kratos true nature, even if Kratos tries to conceal it as much as possible. Just like Athena called Kratos a monster showing recognition out of respect, and Kratos know this, but he's very humble about his past.
@@beegbeeg9871 She wasn't calling him a monster to be intentionally insulting either, she called him a monster. Because of what he had done, and knowing what he's really capable of doing. Since he can defy fate as well, and escaped death itself. That's why he told her : I'm no longer your monster. Because she used to exploit him as well.
That was my first thought too but then I thought back to god of war three Hermes yeah I kind of saw this character of similar version of Hermes but just completely more of a bully. Hermes was a jerk but I don’t think he was a real bully as much as this guy even though we’ve never really seen him through the whole story it’s clear this guy is just more of a bully then Hermes.
Thats the point. Loki is nothing like a Loki we know. I hoped that at least he woul throw a punch or two back at heimdall (especially at that wolf freeing scene, there were many things he could say back to him to counteroffend heimdall, but he behaved himself like a total virgin (and not because he was scared of Heimdall, he totally wasnt))
In Norse mythology Loki and heimdall hate each other so I guess he sort of had in gow just like how mimirs head gets cut off in mythology and in gow kratos cuts off his head
@@sigecaseh517 Actually Loki and Heimdall are quite friendly. It's Heimdall's job to watch gates of Asgard and for someone doing their job as they're supposed to Loki bears no hate even when that job kills him as well. Besides his children (formidable badasses on their own right) finish the job he started.
My thing about Heimdall is that he suffers from the same problem as Baldur. Baldur got what he wanted. He wanted feeling back. He tells Kratos he could have just walked away, but so could have Baldur. Kratos, yet again, trying to show mercy is ultimately thrown back in his face and he does what is necessary to protect his son from Heimdall just as he had a debt to Freya and acted on it to protect her since she saved Atreus. Time and again, the Aesir are incapable of walking away except when Thor listens to reason at the end.
kratos killed baldur because the cycle of son's killing their mothers their fathers needed to end which is why he said "the cycle ends here, we must be better then this" also quoting Zeus during that scene
@@IkissyJesus Yeah but even idiots can understand that they need to change sometimes. Especially here considering that Kratos is quite literally the only one who can relate to him in terms of bad shit they have done.
To be fair, Baldur had every right to be pissed at Freya. She kept letting her fear get in the way of Baldur's life. If Freya had brought him the mistletoe to break the spell, I guarantee it would have made Baldur think twice before killing Freya. It meant so much more and it would have shown Baldur that Freya had changed and he wouldn't had try to kill her right then and there.
Kratos: The hands of death could not defeat me. The Sisters of Fate could not hold me. And *YOU* will not see the end of this day! *I WILL HAVE REVENGE FOR MY SON!*
What I loved is that no one liked Heimdall at all, not even the other Aesir. Sure Odin used his death as an excuse to escalate but he was going to do it anyway.
What I find EXTREMELY telling is that when Kratos impales him in the arm with the spear, Heimdall _begs_ him to stop. All that talk and showboating and when things get a little nasty for him he actually begs. Then again, he's not fighting a kid-guy really is something of a bully and coward at heart.
You're kind of missing, he would rather die then beg for his life part. "No-no-no you are going to spare me out of pity". He would rather die then be looked down on.
@@artypyrec4186 he's talking about when heimdall says stop since he doesn't want to get beat up anymore since heimdall Definitely has a huge ego it would shatter it even more if he was reminded that his mind reading/future seeking (it's a mix of both stated by the creators)is not working against a puny non aesir god. That's what I think heimdall felt like. Also including what you said about getting pity pissed him off lol
This is true, but I feel like that cowardice went away the moment Kratos tried to spare him. That clearly struck a NERVE for Heimdall, to the point where he lost all composure and just started lashing out indescriminently.
I think it’s a nice touch that Mimir tells Kratos that, “This isn’t who you want to be”, instead of something like, “This isn’t you.” He knows full-well Kratos is violent by nature but, he also knows that Kratos is trying to be better for the sake of himself and his son. I’m glad they gave Kratos some external support in the form of Mimir, someone to remind him that his efforts aren’t in vain and that he has something to work towards. It may not always work (see above) but, it does matter in the long run.
Mimir was wrong though. This one had to die when he rejected peace and continued to threaten Loki. Kratos had satisfied the demands of mercy,. It was Heumdall who continued the fight after the final warning and whatever Kratos did to him short of killing him, would mean that Heimdall would still be a threat to Loki. It had to be done, in this time, after this many chances to give it up.
I love how Heimdall considers him a monster for something so tame in comparison to ripping a dudes head off and proceeding to use it as a lamp, or ripping a dudes soul out of his body, or punching a dude until the screen fades to red, or punching some other dude until his face turned into soup.
He died rather an easy death, I was expecting Kratos to tear him limb by limb like Hermes. But again he has left that personality behind, and if u think that way, cutting his arm was way above Old Kratos' nature.
@@JunaidAnsari-my2cx He gave him a warning too, which speaks volumes when you know who Kratos was in the past. But then again, that was always a god's weakness when fighting kratos, their overconfidence.
Heimdal really talks all that smack to atreus just to get his ass handed to kratos who's just been a destructive force throughout his entire life like heimdal really saying to atreus that " your bow ain't shit"
@@error6239. Breaking news, an unexperienced young teenager can't kill a GOD without the help of his thousands of year old retired father that happens to be a god who is also known to kill gods. Who could've known?
Finally mimir started to understand how truly sadistic and violent kratos could be when you test his patience, he literally tried so hard to spare heimdalls life but he kept pushing it
@@scott9738 he found enjoyment defeating him not enjoyment out of heimdalls pain directly. That's as if saying Odin torturing mimir and getting enjoyment out of it is the same as Kratos defeating any enemy in the game and getting enjoyment from defeating another adversary.
amen to that and I never played the game but watched other TH-camrs play the game and watching Kratos choke the life out of Heimdall was pure satisfaction. that's one arrogant jerk out of the way.
I love how Heimdall was shocked Kratos actually managed to hit him even though it had never been done before. Just goes to show how powerful Kratos actually is, he beat Heimdall's reaction times so much that he punched faster than he could react to what Kratos was thinking, absolute badass
And you would think after that heimdall would've been like "aight lemme stop" but no it really fucked with his pride so much to the point he went on to further challenge an opponent much more stronger and get himself killed
Yup, it shows how great Kratos' fighting technique is, even at this advanced age. Also, in my own interpretation, it got easier to hit Heimdall as the fight went on because his mind wasn't able to process what just happened (getting hit for the first time) and he became so irritated to the point that he ignored his future sight ability. The perfect opposite to Kratos, who controlled his emotions (even at the end, or else, Heimdall's face would've received the same treatment as Poseidon's).
@@Incog2k6 Factuals. Heimdall couldn’t believe that an anomaly that is literally strength incarnate like Kratos truly existed. After that hit and losing his arm, I feel he was a mix of both infuriated and terrified, now realizing that he is, in fact, face-to-face with the Ghost of Sparta himself, and he knew that after the threats he gave to his son that he pretty much sealed his own fate. Mans slammed Heimdall so hard that Mimir literally got flung off his waist, he hasn’t been that pissed in a long time.
I absolutely love the minor details the game brings, like him missing the horn when he tried to grab it, the constant soft huffs you hear when they’re in Midgard or after running, the difference in pitches with their voice with the scene or event that happens, it what makes a game feel more realistic, and brings human emotions and ways we do into a game.
the way kratos failed to grab the gjallarhorn @15:36 for the first time, then had to grab it again for a second time, was an incredibly amazing subtle touch. A man as strong as the ghost of sparta, does not just fail to grab a horn. kratos killing heimdall like this probably triggered flashbacks to greek pantheon and you know... his reaction says it all. kratos came to these lands to escape his past. killing heimdall, a god like this, again, would have really messed with his head. his hands were that limp and he was so shaken up for this very moment that it required him 2 tries to grab the light object. you'd think most game developers would never add such a subtle touch and it speaks volumes of Kratos' character development, making the ending that much better. it's so subtle, i love it.
Its amazing to watch this fight because Heimdall is used to being able to get away with anything, like how Atreus was powerless to fight back against him, and then he tries that same attitude with Kratos and is just absolutely humbled
I think Kratos had multiple intentions, and Heimdall couldn't read his mind because there were too many intentions at once, plus Kratos was hitting faster
SUPER ironic how heimdall purposefully made others mad from his power, thus making them weak. but when he comes across kratos, making him mad just makes him more brutal and unforgiving.
@@andrei3436 not only that but the angrier he gets the less he thinks about what he’s doing, in other words he becomes the biggest counter to Heimdall imaginable
I like to think when Heimdall looked into Kratos's eyes as he was dying, he saw every single ruthless and brutal murder Kratos committed against the Greek Pantheon. And it scared the shit out of him enough to call Kratos a monster.
@@timeportal2859 i just got this image in my head of Zeus being like Zeus: Another one bites the dust Another one bites the dust And another one gone and another one gone Another one bites the dust
I love how when he walks away from Atreus and catches the arrow, he is slightly cut by it as seen by the spurt of blood. Shows that his arrogance makes him more vulnerable. Instead of dodging, he wants to show off and ends up getting injured because of it. Him and kratos are like polar opposites. Heimdall holds back because of arrogance. Kratos holds back because he wants to give people the opportunity to become better
@@blazeprxey Not sure what you see as red, but that is just brown mud that flew at him with the arrow. Odin later tells him to clean himself up, referring to the mud in his face.
In that moment, Athena's words in the first game ecoed in my head: "There's nowhere you can hyde, spartan But much distance between you and the true as you want. It changes nothing Pretend to be everything that you are not. Teacher. Husband. Father. You cannot change. You will aways be a monster."
"The most terrifying force of death comes from the hands of men who just wanted to be left alone." Kratos of now is far more deadly than he ever was in his younger years.
I mean, bullies a lot of times are victims of abuse so really you would just be feeding the monster machine that created them and continuing the cycle of brokenness and violence.
I mean, 90% of God of War games is the conga line of idiots who hear of Kratos and think "I can take him". I always wonder with these kind of characters what would happen if someone just asked what he's there for and handed it over.
Of all the things Kratos has been to in the game Heimdall is the only one who managed to make Kratos show a bit of his "Spartan" side. Edit: So everyone is telling me if it's the "Spartan Rage" in game or the "Ghost of Sparta" To clarify I'm talking about the "Ghost of Sparta" whereas the Spartan Rage is kind of like an ability while on this clip Kratos showed his bloodthirsty side. I'm not good with explanations but you get the rough idea
Funny to see how all the gods, even in Greece relied heavily on fate and Kratos does not. Odin says he wants knowledge but in reality he is scared of fate
Love how in most hand to hand fights in these newer GOW games they seem slower than the older games, but at the end of that fight with Heimdall? Mans rage made him move at the speeds of Hermes like holy damn, that’s the God of War I remember!
It's a really cool detail showing how Kratos is trying as hard as he can not to revert to his old ways, but sometimes there's someone so assholish that his old ways can't be held back in response no matter how hard he tries.
Looking again at Kratos' expression after strangling Heimdall makes me think that Kratos didn't expect to do that. Almost like he was in a trance and just snapped out of it after Heimdall was dead.
I think so too. Kratos was seeing red and nothing else. If anything, it was probably brought on more by the threat to his child than the adrenaline of the fight.
12:47 legitimately was one of my favorite parts of this fight, not only satisfying seeing his form improve after missing twice but also him absolutely decking the mess out of Heimdall was invigorating
@Valoriant Legion I don’t think they could’ve killed Kratos, even if both of em were fighting at the same time. Kratos contains himself every time in these last two games, so if he needs to fight seriously to survive, he would do so, and I think he would win too.
To be honest, I feel bad for Kratos at the end, mainly because it seemed that he let the Ghost slip out again and once he gained control of his rage, he had a look of slight terror. Not the terror of "oh I'm really scared of that" but the terror of his control over his emotions slipping again
@@Chuckfrey05 He thought he could live again, just like he lives anything. But little did he know he was faced with the personification of strength, god of strength, kratos.

He's angry and disturbed at what he once was. He even slipped up picking Heimdall's horn. Young Kratos would've stabbed and held up his corpse just to get the horn
Heimdall’s last words are very telling. Bear in mind his entire thing is his ability to read a person so when Kratos killed him he knew a part of him enjoyed it and Kratos’ inner thoughts actually said that he was satisfied by Heimdall’s death (why wouldn’t you be?) so maybe he still retains part of his God-Killer, Ghost of Sparta persona but he chooses instead to be better than that
I just love how Mimir has become the voice of reason. He’s like the Kratos’ conscience (not that he doesn’t have one), he’s always there to remind Kratos of the bigger picture and guide him morally to suggest the higher road to take, or the road less traveled.
I love how unsettling it looks when he dies, drenched in his own blood , both eyes look like an abyss. Kratos nearly unleashed his old self here Heimdall got lucky Kratos didn't use the Blades of Chaos or it would've concluded in a gruesome ending Good thing Mimir was able to bring Kratos back to his senses

15:10 Man this detail is so good imo. Kratos missing the horn at first. This is SO minor I think most people never even notice it (I also didn't notice it at first; I watched this scene a couple of times already) but subconsciously it just adds to how organic and real everything feels in this game.
I would absolutely love to see an interaction between Heimdall and Baldr. Both of them have amazing voice actors and both of them have such arrogance. Would be very enjoyable.
Something not a lot of people have spoken about is that Kratos was so shaken by his rage and that he had fallen back into it that when he went to pull the horn from Heimdall’s belt, he fumbled initially. He truly lost himself for a second. I’ve been at that level of anger before, so seeing the writers add that small of a detail was incredible.
Another thing that i love is that the fact everytime he does lose his temper its when it involves his son. What he said against thor really hits home when he told him "for our children we must be better"
Heimdall was literally a prick, shape at the image of Odin in this game. Even Thor was feed up with Heimdall as well. The big difference with Thor is at least Kratos tried to reason with Thor and get him to stand up for himself against Odin, and Thor listen. Even if cost his life too.
@@MixedGrill117 Everyone feel the same. Heimdall was a total prick and got all the time to walk this one out. He literally make Kratos so pissed he let his rage come out for a moment.
Kratos left behind his bloodthirsty nature and put the “ Ghost of Sparta “ behind him. But the one detail I love is that in GOW4 and this game, anytime he does somewhat revert to his old ways, it is typically because Atreus gets involved or threatened. Idk, I just love that. Kratos killed the Greek Gods out of revenge. Anytime he kills a god now, it is for ample reason, it is for his son, to protect his son.
or maybe "I killed an entire city in Greece for being in my way, imagine what I'll do to you", or even "bro i flipped a temple upside down, imagine what I'll do to you"
I still love the fact that Heimdall is trying to seem all intimidating to Atreus by saying real power doesn't flaunt, but as far as I can tell, he's the only Aesir god who does. Or at least who tries to.
@@swordsmancs Heimdall never even mentioned his abilities. He only uses them. It's either people challenging him or his just doing his job. The only reason why we learn about his abilities is because the other characters talk about them.

Imagine Kratos instead of strangling him to death, Heimdall would more or less be sharing the conclusion as Hercules if Mimir didn't bring Kratos back to his senses.
Everyone’s talking about the beat down but my favorite part of this sequence is seeing Atreus in action. I have a strong feeling he’s going to end up being the character we play as down the road, and seeing him show some dope moves while still being a kid makes me excited af to see what he’s going to be able to do as an adult.
@Leo Valentino I think they said the end of the Norse storyline specifically. But probably won’t be seeing any updates for a new game for a couple of years.
Fr dude, Kratos isn't even in his prime strength and endurance. He just has a ridiculous Fight/Combat IQ now cause of all that bloodshed and mind games with the much stronger greek gods. I believe Kratos could've ended this fight in less than a minute if you went full out to kill.
Pretty much. To the Aesir, death is preferable to being spared out of pity. For them, it's the equivalent of saying they're so weak that it's not even worth the effort of killing them.

Your right in most regards. Physical brutality in a kill is one thing because your full body and mind aren't really 100 percent into the kill. the way kratos failed to grab the gjallarhorn @15:36 for the first time, then had to grab it again for a second time, was an incredibly amazing subtle touch.
