Aryeon is Arjen Anthony Lucassen, a multi instrumentalist but seen mostly on lead guitar - he has been making these concept albums for many years now, always being long enough to be sold as 2 record sets back in the days - Arjen is how I first learned of this once unknown powerful female singer, by the name of Floor Jansen, then from After Forever - also came my introductions to Epica, Within Temptation, The Gathering and Symphony X - in fact I just saw Russell Allen live as part of the Trans Siberian Orchestra - Ayreon is vast compositions that had to cover multi albums/CD releases - there were quite a few other artists, from over seas, creating these types of epic releases as in "Aina - Days Of Rising Doom (2003) The Metal Opera" created by Amanda Somerville, a vocalist originally from Los Angeles, who moved to Europe and never looked back - she is now married and has 3 children with Sander Gommans who was in After Forever with Floor (Amanda has also done great work with Epica and Avantasia and was Simone's vocal coach) & also Tobias Sammet's The Metal Opera - every vocalist causes me to do the research on them and I find so much more wonderful musis - we never had these kinds of bands in America while foreign countries have 30 years of history of this genre - this is why so many reactors, in the US, reference Amy Lee when they first hear Floor because that is all that we have
Sander was also Floor's boyfriend when they were in After Forever together. They broke up shortly before the band ended for a host of legal and business issues.
I concur, but "Everybody Dies", "Valley of the Queens" and "Eye of Ra" of the Universe show is the usual track most reactors go. I've smoked and drank for decades to get the ultramasculine raspy voice like sir Russell Allen - and failed miserably. The video you chose is from the genius's own channel. Arjen (pronounced AR-YEN) is simply a musical mastermind, but he's, in his own words, a recluse. Don't be surprised if he appears in your comments. He's one of the nicest, friendliest people on the planet, and he loves talking music. Now that you've watched this, watch the live version from last year's concerts. He only organizes concerts in the Netherlands about every four years or so, and trust me, I'd sell my soul to attend one, as would many. The next adventure should be "Everybody Dies" - the LIVE version, from the same album. This song was the lead off on "The Source" and "Everybody Dies" is the third track. I'm telling you, Ayreon concerts are a collection of the greatest musicians on the planet, and they line up to be a part of it. So, you have found Ayreon. This is another huge world to explore. So, Ajren has been working with this concept for many years. And then they decided to do it live 2017. Something everyone thought impossible with such a complex story and so many musicians and singers involved. They got some kind of funding and booked a theatre for three times but only planned two shows. The funding was good and they set up a seldom seen equipment on the scene with industry robots and lots of stuff. All three shows did sell out in minutes. I do not remember if they made extra shows. Maybe. Anyhow - it was a huge success and a unique show. One of the best from this show is: Everybody dies!
He did it two more times at the same concert hall, in 2019 (Electric Castle) and in 2023 (01011001, Live beneath the waves). Both times they did 5 shows in 3 days, all sold out in no time. The audience came flying in from over 60 countries all around the world, just to see those shows. I've heard a fourth series of shows is being planned, no dates yet...
What is good? THIS IS! It's the right one! Mike Mills - Aussie! Aussie! Aussie! Toehider - how do you hide toes? Kick a$$ really hard! Great reaction! Ayreon is one of many projects by Dutch composer Arjen Lucassen. Ayreon albums are written as Progressive Mock opera's with full storylines and characters represented by individual singers. There have been a total of 10 albums and all but 3 of them take place in the same sci fi/fantasy world of the Forever and tells the story of how humans came to be on Earth. This song is the first from the album The Source which is a prequel to earlier albums. Basically the backstory is humanity is existing on Planet A in the Andromeda galaxy. To solve environmental problems the society turns over control of everything to a computer, The Frame. It decides the best way to solve the problems is by killing off the humans. Eventually the humans realize their only hope is to send 10 specially selected individuals and one robot, TH-1, (played by Mike Mills the guy singing binary) on there only interstellar spaceship, Starblade, to try and save the human race. They travel to a water planet near the star Sirrah. In order to adapt to living on a water planet they are injected with a drug invented by the Chemist called Liquid Eternity but also referred to as The Source which makes them able to live underwater and communicate by telepathy and extends their lifetimes making them virtually immortal. One of the side effects is that it makes them unable to feel emotions. In an attempt to regain their emotions they seed a comet with human DNA and send it to Earth. There is obviously a lot more to the story but is kind of the backstory. Arjen is hugely respected by musicians and singers from all over the world and being asked to sing on his albums or one of his rare live performances is a huge honor. Arjen also "discovered" Floor when she was teenager and she has been part of many of his projects including Star One along with her sister Irene. Ayreon has been a huge gateway to so many other fabulous bands for me like Stream of Passion, Kamelot, and Blind Guardian and singers like Anneke van Giersbergen and Marcela Bovio. Just yesterday I watched Ayreon "Universe" again; this is some kind of "Best of". This concert on DVD is really worth watching it several times. And I have just received the new concert DVD "01011001 - Live beneath the waves" - it also is great. This song is from this concert. Ayreon always means great music, great musicians and singers and an interesting story. Next to Nightwish Arjen's projects have become my favourites.

The live version is the best one. Arjan thought this one could'd be done live. And this is not the live one. You should listen to Live beneath the waves 2023. Tere are 12 singers and only three of the original singers are in. Just a thought here. More female singers and live is always better. This one is recorded in his studio and is is great too though. Aryeon is Arjen Anthony Lucassen, a multi instrumentalist but seen mostly on lead guitar - he has been making these concept albums for many years now, always being long enough to be sold as 2 record sets back in the days - Arjen is how I first learned of this once unknown powerful female singer, by the name of Floor Jansen, then from After Forever - also came my introductions to Epica, Within Temptation, The Gathering and Symphony X - in fact I just saw Russell Allen live as part of the Trans Siberian Orchestra - Ayreon is vast compositions that had to cover multi albums/CD releases - there were quite a few other artists, from over seas, creating these types of epic releases as in "Aina - Days Of Rising Doom (2003) The Metal Opera" created by Amanda Somerville, a vocalist originally from Los Angeles, who moved to Europe and never looked back - she is now married and has 3 children with Sander Gommans who was in After Forever with Floor (Amanda has also done great work with Epica and Avantasia and was Simone's vocal coach) & also Tobias Sammet's The Metal Opera - every vocalist causes me to do the research on them and I find so much more wonderful musis - we never had these kinds of bands in America while foreign countries have 30 years of history of this genre - this is why so many reactors, in the US, reference Amy Lee when they first hear Floor because that is all that we have
Sander was also Floor's boyfriend when they were in After Forever together. They broke up shortly before the band ended for a host of legal and business issues.

The video you chose is from the genius's own channel. Arjen (pronounced AR-YEN) is simply a musical mastermind, but he's, in his own words, a recluse. Don't be surprised if he appears in your comments. He's one of the nicest, friendliest people on the planet, and he loves talking music. Now that you've watched this, watch the live version from last year's concerts. He only organizes concerts in the Netherlands about every four years or so, and trust me, I'd sell my soul to attend one, as would many. The next adventure should be "Everybody Dies" - the LIVE version, from the same album. This song was the lead off on "The Source" and "Everybody Dies" is the third track. I'm telling you, Ayreon concerts are a collection of the greatest musicians on the planet, and they line up to be a part of it. The two greatest musical journey you can take are Nightwish and Ayreon - you cannot find better composing unless you have a time machine and can visit Bach, Mozart and Rimsky-Korsakov!

There are a lot of singers (male/female) who are important for the Music Industry (SALES) and there are singers, NOT A LOT, who are important for The Music History, as an ART ... That's where you find the singers AYREON collaborates with like: Floor, Simone etc...!!! Shine on ... 🤘
Believe it or not but they managed to make a live version, you passed it when you where looking for the various video's on your screen in the first minute of this video ...
So, you have found Ayreon. This is another huge world to explore. So, Ajren has been working with this concept for many years. And then they decided to do it live 2017. Something everyone thought impossible with such a complex story and so many musicians and singers involved. They got some kind of funding and booked a theatre for three times but only planned two shows. The funding was good and they set up a seldom seen equipment on the scene with industry robots and lots of stuff. All three shows did sell out in minutes. I do not remember if they made extra shows. Maybe. Anyhow - it was a huge success and a unique show.
One of the best from this show is: Everybody dies!
He did it two more times at the same concert hall, in 2019 (Electric Castle) and in 2023 (01011001, Live beneath the waves). Both times they did 5 shows in 3 days, all sold out in no time. The audience came flying in from over 60 countries all around the world, just to see those shows. I've heard a fourth series of shows is being planned, no dates yet...
What is good? THIS IS! It's the right one! Mike Mills - Aussie! Aussie! Aussie! Toehider - how do you hide toes? Kick a$$ really hard! Have they told you that the binary code he sings reads "Trust TH-1" - TH-1 is his android character - as you can see in Ayreon's "Everybody Dies" LIVE! Tommy Karevik with Kamelot is top level too! Great reaction! Ayreon is one of many projects by Dutch composer Arjen Lucassen. Ayreon albums are written as Progressive Mock opera's with full storylines and characters represented by individual singers. There have been a total of 10 albums and all but 3 of them take place in the same sci fi/fantasy world of the Forever and tells the story of how humans came to be on Earth. This song is the first from the album The Source which is a prequel to earlier albums. Basically the backstory is humanity is existing on Planet A in the Andromeda galaxy. To solve environmental problems the society turns over control of everything to a computer, The Frame. It decides the best way to solve the problems is by killing off the humans. Eventually the humans realize their only hope is to send 10 specially selected individuals and one robot, TH-1, (played by Mike Mills the guy singing binary) on there only interstellar spaceship, Starblade, to try and save the human race. They travel to a water planet near the star Sirrah. In order to adapt to living on a water planet they are injected with a drug invented by the Chemist called Liquid Eternity but also referred to as The Source which makes them able to live underwater and communicate by telepathy and extends their lifetimes making them virtually immortal. One of the side effects is that it makes them unable to feel emotions. In an attempt to regain their emotions they seed a comet with human DNA and send it to Earth. There is obviously a lot more to the story but is kind of the backstory.
Arjen is hugely respected by musicians and singers from all over the world and being asked to sing on his albums or one of his rare live performances is a huge honor. Arjen also "discovered" Floor when she was teenager and she has been part of many of his projects including Star One along with her sister Irene. Ayreon has been a huge gateway to so many other fabulous bands for me like Stream of Passion, Kamelot, and Blind Guardian and singers like Anneke van Giersbergen and Marcela Bovio. Star One songs are different in that they are inspired by sci fi movies or TV shows. I think you would like the song Lost Children of the Universe which is inspired by the movie Interstellar and feature Steve Vai on guitar.

Just yesterday I watched Ayreon "Universe" again; this is some kind of "Best of". This concert on DVD is really worth watching it several times. And I have just received the new concert DVD "01011001 - Live beneath the waves" - it also is great. This song is from this concert. Ayreon always means great music, great musicians and singers and an interesting story. Next to Nightwish Arjen's projects have become my favourites.

Ayreon's music is such a wonderful rabbit hole to fall down. The live version is the best one. Arjan thought this one could'd be done live. And this is not the live one. You should listen to Live beneath the waves 2023. Tere are 12 singers and only three of the original singers are in. Just a thought here. More female singers and live is always better. This one is recorded in his studio and is is great too though. And you picked a nice rabbit hole. Rock on girl!
Thank goodness you didn't choose the live version. Normally live is great but the version of this is missing several original singers. Now try Everybody Dies or The Eye of Ra live.

Watch EVERYBODY DIES live. It's hilarious and really, really good. I like it better than this one. Jethro Tull getting a Grammy for best heavy metal album is the reason I never paid attention to the Grammies. They're as bad as the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame which I also pay no attention to.

I agree that Jethro Tull are not a metal band. But, in my opinion, they are way, way better and more interesting band than Metallica.
