There you go my friend The Source, only the start, this story goes on and on. Joost, the piano player, was in Floor's first metal band, After Forever, and he is currently working with her on some solo tunes for an upcoming solo tour. Some of her After Forever bandmates are with Epica so you'll often see her as a Epica guest singer with BFF, Simone Simons.
@@TankTheTech And he wrote: "Joost you are still a Lul :) " in the comments in the video, which translates into: you are still a dick(head). Lul is a swearword in Dutch, which can also be used as a fun word.Depends how you say it.
It's technically only seven. He counts both Migrators as separate albums because they're the same story but very different sounds. And he doesn't count Actual Fantasy as canon. So... six in the main arc. Three side arcs and a metric duckton of side projects. Yeah. The Tall Dutch Hippie is prolific.
Hi Tank! Today is the day I found your channel, and I'll be watching a lot more of your videos. So far I've been watching 1 Epica, 3 Nightwish and 1 Ayreon song. If you'd like to see more of Ayreon, and a LARGE group of talented singers together no stage, I'd like to suggest Ayreon's live performance of The Eye of Ra! Thanks and take care!
@@TankTheTech I've been thinking wether or not I should give any more recommendations, since I don't want to push your musical journey into any direction (or anyone's direction for that matter). I decided I'd just go ahead and place my 2 cents here, and you can decide for yourself if and how you're going to use it. Epica - You know them already. I'd recommend some live stuff from the Retrospect concert. Especially Sancta Terra, with Floor Jansen as guest. Beware, there is (or was) a version of this video where the live soundtrack has been dubbed over with the album version, which does not contain Floor. Sensorium is one of my favorites from Epica. Fun fact: The band Epica is named after Kamelot's 2003 album Epica. Fun fact: Simone Simons is married to Kamelot's keyboard player, Oliver Palotai. Kamelot - Like with Nightwish, avoid discussions about who's the better singer, Khan or Karevic. Couple of cool collaborations. One of them you did already. Others include House on a Hill (also with Simone Simons) and March Of Mephisto. I also like their cover of Where the Wild Roses Grow. Tons more to discover. Nightwish - What can I say... Dozens of good songs to discover. You've already done a couple of good ones, so I'll just point out one that's special to me: Ever Dream. Look for a live version with Floor;-) Delain - I'm relatively new to this one. I like their sound. Lot of bass(drum). They use guests in most of their stuff. Some guests you already know, like Marco Hietala or Floor Jansen. I like the song No Complience, featuring Marco and Sharon den Adel (Within Temptation). Within Temptation - I've been following them since '96 or something. Dozens of songs to investigate ;-) I'll just leave you with one that's very special to me: Somewhere. Look for the live version, recorded during the Black Symphony concert (I was there :-D ). Here the song is performed as a duet, with Anneke van Giersbergen. I suspect it will hit you right in the feels too! Anneke van Giersbergen - Now, this is where it all started for me, somewhere in the mid 90's: Anneke, as singer in the band The Gathering. Mostly know for their song Strange Machines, but there is tons more of good stuff there. To me, Anneke is still the godmother of all (Dutch) Symphonic stuff. Might be technically wrong here, but that's how I feel it. After she left The Gathering she did some solo work and some projects of her own. Quite frankly, I don't care what she sings. She can sing the phonebook to me and I'd eat it up like a fanboy! If you're talking about female voices that reach into your soul, she's the original one for me! She is also a regular in Arjen Lucassen's projects, like Ayreon and The Gentle Storm. Arjen Lucassen - Still finding out his stuff every day. For now, I know him best for his Ayreon project. You already did one of his songs, and in my earlier comment I've recommended an other one. Plenty of more good songs to discover here! I hope these 2 cents are of any use to you. If not, it's all good too. Take care!
I discovered Aryeon back in the spring this year while I was painting my bedroom! I had Amazon music playing Nightwish, Floor and Marko. It also played things it thought I might like, and Aryeon was one of them, and I loved it! I had the windows open and the speaker up loud, it was effing amazing! I love the live concerts, they are brilliant. My mum was a big Ian Gillan fan. She loved all that kind of music, she said she was born to early 🤣 as by the 70's she was in her 40's. I came along in 1971 and grew up with older brothers, so was raised on Gillan, Yes, Rush, Black Sabbath, Motorhead to name but a few. I didn't really get into music until the hair bear metal bands came to be. I have to hold my hand up and say I was into Dexies midnight runners, Duran Duran, Adam and the Ants, back in the day 😆 I love most types of music but rock/metal are my favourite. I like real singing, not auto tuned to death, can't sing live music.
Another ongoing projects along the same lines is Tobias Sammets (EdGuy) Avantasia. Ayreon is sci fi rock, Avantasia is fantasy. But the concepts are the same. One guy writes everything then invites a lot of well known singers and musicians to sing and play it.
Arjen just LOVES music, his entire life revolves around music, he lives breathes and sleeps music. Wonderful to see someone so passionate about the art these days, seems to be getting rarer and rarer.
I discovered your channel thanks to Arjen who linked this video on Facebook. And I've been listenning to it for the past 3 hours .... damn ... ^^ There are so many good songs form Ayreon that I can't count them. It's so hard to make some recomandations! "Amazing Flight" is a sure pick. Or if you want some more grunt (there are not much in Ayreon's music) you can also try "Cosmic fusion". You may be surprised I believe ! BTW I've looked at all your Nigthwish videos and ... If I can suggest another group that could link Nightwish (for the operatic music style) and Ayreon, with also some headbanging stuff, yous should try Ancient Bard. It's not a very well known group, and they deserve a lot of love, since all they do is really great too! Try "Impious Dystopia". And I leave it to you to find the link with Ayreon!
Hey Tank, this reaction just popped up on my radar. Like allways, great reaction, like it so much. A shorter one from Ayreon, Age of Shadows (live), featuring Marco and Floor and Hansi Kursch. Vocal wise superb.
Arjen sent me. I know little about the technical side of music, but I've been a huge fan of Arjen's work for a looong time and it's so great to see someone enjoying it for the first time!
Brother, you simple cracked me when you mention that you wanted your father to be there with you to listen this master piece. Hope my father likes this music to have him with me...
You really should listen to Epica. You will love it! And to make it easy on you: take Sancta Terra with guest vocalist Floor Jansen. You will be amazed...
Ayreon is the project of Dutch composer, producer, singer and multi-instrumentalist Arjen Anthony Lucassen. He has had over 75 different singer on his now 8 (double) albums (9th coming this september). Most songs are scifi inspired. He actually created his own Ayreon Universe, which over the different albums get more fully explored. He started in the 90s. Floor and HER SISTER have been a part almost since the beginning. (You can see floor and her sis singing side by side in the live version of the songs Eye Of Ra) The binary dudes characters name is TH-1 and the binary translated is TRUST TH1
Tank, you might have some fun with this Ayreon song from their Universe concert. Its called Intergalactic space Crusaders. Floor's sister Irene is singing backup vocals on this. Mr. Lucassen is a huge fan of science fiction, and I believe this song is based around an old BBC series called Blake's 7.
Literally a world wide collaboration. So great. SO MUCH TALENT. My fav is def the binary solo. So funny but really beautiful too. And Floor of course ;) Do the reaction with your Dad anyway :)
You're late to the game, but I'm glad you discovered Ayreon. I hope it brings you as much joy it does the rest of us Ayreonauts! I just got Transitus today, but don't have time to listen to it in it's entirety tonight!
Absolutely love Arjen. He's a genius at identifying singers before they fully blossom and brings the best out of them. An absolute legend who doesn't get the attention he deserves. SO glad you're doing this reaction. Thank you! Stay safe.
Ed Warby used to be the drummer for the great Death Metal band Gorefest. Also, check out Nils' band Pagan's Mind, they're awesome. Tobias Sammet's Avantasia is quite similar to Ayreon in that it is also basically an all-star project with loads of great and prominent singers. I recommend you check out "The Raven Child" from the album "Moonglow". Hansi Kürsch is on that, as well (along with Jorn Lande), and his vocals on that track are the best I've ever heard him do.
"Ayreon - The Day That The World Breaks Down" is one of my favourite youtube music videos. Thank you for making this reaction video. It's probably not easy to do a first time reaction to this video. Arjen throws so much stuff at the listener/viewer. I did need more than one view to catch all things that were going on. Five and a half hours till your video goes live, I can't wait. :)
As Arjen already mentioned Tobias Sammets Avantasia in the vid - many of their songs feature guest singers and musicians from all over the world, people Tobias had always wanted to work with. Among those are names like Alice Cooper, Klaus Meine (Scorpions), Dee Snider, Sharon den Adel (Within Temptation), Marco Hietala (Nightwish), Hansi Kürsch (Blind Guardian), Jon Oliva (Savatage), Geoff Tate (Queensryche), Ronnie Atkins (Pretty Maids), Jorn Lande (Masterplan), Biff Byford (Saxon) Michael Kiske (Helloween), Bob Catley (Mangum), David DeFeis (Virgin Steele), Candice Night, Amanda Somerville and many more.
Please do the reaction with your dad I'm 68 and I am so proud to be Dutch and call this great musician a fellow country-man !!! greetings from the netherlands.
What would the music sound like if Arjen Lucassen and Tuomas Holopainen would team up for some songs ?????????????????????????????????????????????????? greetings from the Netherlands
That's Ayreon/Arjen for ya - he mumbles something about making an album, and 20-30 ridiculously talented musicians from around the world line up to pitch in. Nearly all his stuff, that I've heard so far at least, has been similar to this; Epic storytelling and kickass prog.
Tank, Arjen is (as expected) a wonderful person because he reacted to your channel and I hoped he would do so. I e-mailed him and pointed out that he should watch your reaction on this song. And ..... he did. That's the guy he is.
Train of Thought was also my first real exposure to Dream Theater. I had a couple songs earlier than that played for me, Octavarium, Memories etc, that a guitar playing friend of mine in high school played for me. He and his dad got tickets to Dream Theater playing in the round in Phoenix, AZ for Train of Thought, and they brought me with them. Awesome, awesome show. I bought a tour shirt (long sleeve, hardly wear it because Arizona) and the album itself. It's probably still my favorite album from them. I was basically not sure which song was which (especially when DT songs are usually, like, 20 min each) but it's probably one of the only instances where I saw the headliner, basically blind. I remember some excited fan came up to my friend and I (we were probably the youngest in the crowd) exclaiming that we had just witnessed history being made. I only ever caught them again for Constant Motion live, excellent show as well except the date I was on.... her ears started to bug out during a keytar solo and she almost walked out. It was bothering my ears as well, just kept hitting notes and sustaining them, but it wasn't hurting mine like hers. THANKFULLY the solo stopped otherwise we might have left. I'll admit, I haven't paid much attention to them since Mike Portnoy left/was removed from the band though. I had to bring that up since we both entered the Dream Theater at around the same time. Also as I'm writing this, looking down at my phone to comment while the video is streaming through Xbox, I also stopped and said "hey! I know that voice!" About the same time you exclaimed it yourself: Hansi! Hell yes!! You'll have to react to Demons & Wizards some day, get more Hansi in your life
Kudos, man. After watching this reaction I've subbed to your channel. Probably the best one I've seen in a loooong time. I love Tank Facts, a wonderful way to learn and not only enjoy music. Keep doing this great! Cheers from your new friend in Spain!
That was Def Leppard Hysteria level of vocal tracks. I read an article, around 88-89, with Mutt Lange said a few parts had about 48 vocal tracks and quite a few times on Hysteria there was almost 128 tracks on a few songs. He didn't say which.
About your dad reacting: you can still do that. Reactors sometimes do stuff like that, bring someone new to react to something again. It's fun to see the contrast between the two and hear any interactions, so you can totally go for it.
Arjen is a genius. Any of the Ayreon albums are great, though the The Human Equation is my personal favorite. He also has other “projects” that are similar, but show different sides of his musical psyche...Star One, Ambeon, Guilt Machine, and some solo work. You can’t go wrong with any of it.
Arjen and the musicians he plays with, deserves all the credit and love they get! Big Ayreon fan, and to see other people reacting to this, makes me smile! Music makes this world a better place! Especially good music! ;) Keep it up TankTheTech! Love your videos :)
Now you can check Avantasia 😂 There's also a lot of guest singers and stuff And shhhh...Tobias Sammet, the mastermind of Avantasia even has a guy called Marko Hietala on one of his albums called Ghostlights, on track Master of the Pendulum, sooooo...you know what to do 😂
Arjen is the man I don't know anyone else who could say "Who wants to come over to my house and make an album", and then get a dozen well known lead singers & musicians to show up. Go ahead and show this to your dad when he is in town most of us won't have a problem watching it again. You picked a fairly good time to become acquainted with Ayreon as there is a new album Transitus in the works right now it should be released mid November. I'm especially looking forward to a couple of "new" singers that haevn't worked with Arjen before Dianne van Giersbergen (Ex Libris/Xandria) And Dee Snider (Twisted Sister). The name Ayreon is kind of a play on words of Arjen's name, remember the Dutch J ha a Y sound. If you want to check out another showcase video like this one that gives you a glimpse of everyone on the album I would check out "The Eye of Ra" from Ayreon Universe.
I think this goes for both Arjen and Tobias. And to be fair, if Tuomas would want it, I imagine he could also send out the batsignal and end up with a living room full of talented folks ;) Love that Arjen and Tobias cross-polinate if you will.
It's great to share the taste in music with your kids. My 16y old daughter wanted to show me some "new" music. It turned out to be Whitesnake and the Alan Parson Project and she got mad at me when I told her I've listened to them since late 80. We use to levitate together to everything from Sweet Comfort Band to Phenomena. My other daughter is sadly lost to club music. My son's mostly into to various experimental music often with strong influences from church music. Two of the kids study music. I've told them if I end up in a nursing home when I'm old they must provide me with good music and a cat. /Take good care of your dad.
Holy God, the lineup! And the composition. And the video cuts were of the actual takes. And I heard odes to Deep Purple, Yes and Rush and maybe some Jethro Tull... The depiction of the voices with the faces placed here and there on an otherwise black screen... The fun facts and personal commentary throughout... Extraordinary. Very Impressed. Blackmore himself probably sat up and gave it a fist pump.
It's really great to see others feel Ayreon the way I do. (That's Air=eon, for the un-initiated ;) Also, composer's name is pronounced "Are-yen" "Luke-ass-en" ( Sorry, Arjen. best I could do. ;) You're right, mate. Everyone here is phenomenally talented, including, of course, my Aussie mate Michael Mills. Good-on-ya, Mills-y!! Thanks bro, well done. Cheers from Down-undah! \m/ ;P \m/
Thanks for the editing , thanks for the video , it make me happy that you care about all the story and details of this band , it is huge . i think i will use this video to explain to some of my friend why this band is really unique . Have a nice day , greeting from france .
Is this what would happen if Mozart and Shakespeare had a weird science baby in the 21st century??? I love this, can't wait for Transitus to land on my doormat...
Exactly! It's got a lot of rock opera to it, only with so much other stuff it kind of winds up as a prog-metal-blues opera. So good, and with so much great talent. I'm really looking forward to Transitus as well, except I am a bit sad that Patty Gurdy is just playing the Hurdy Gurdy on it, as she also has a lovely voice.
AYREON IS SUCH A GIFT!! My husband got into Devin Townsend when he was a teen, Devin appeared on an Ayreon album which got my husband into Ayreon. Years later when he met me he played me "Into the Electric Castle" and I fell in love, AND THEN I heard Jonas Renkse of Katatonia sing on Ayreon's "01011001" album, and because of that I started listening to Katatonia (my favorite band now) and getting into all sorts of interesting metal from there. Would literally not be the same person if it weren't for Ayreon. Happy you've discovered Arjen's music!! :D And how fucking cool that Arjen commented?? WOW!
@@TankTheTech Yeah, Arjen is like 6'7'. Seen a picture of him standing next to Floor and he towers over her. Just like her husband. All of Arjen's stuff is amazing, think I own most of the Ayreon albums as well as the last 2 live DVDs they released. Arjen doesn't like to perform live as he gets crippling stage fright, but he seems to be a super nice guy so we won't hold that against him. :-)
Thank you so much for the video, Ayreon has been a favorite for years and very underappreciated! Next Ayreon reaction recommends - Looser "album version" or Ayreon Universe - Age of Shadows Live at Tilburg 2017
Arjen was faster than me to answer. *sigh* So: just one hint: look him up on wikipedia to see the artists he's been working with. I remember that story when he called Mikael Akerfeldt from Opeth on the phone: "I'm Arjen Lucassen. I have a band called Ayreon. And I wanted to ask you if you'ld like to sing in this project?" And the answer was: "Arjen Lucassen? Sure! Man, I have a lot of CD's from you!" So much about that.
And for the next album he did after working with Mikael, he asked Jonas Renske from Katatonia, he said yes after talking to Mikael because Mikael recommended Ayreon to Jonas
Yes, everyone understands how hard it is for musicians and it's not even about money. There are no concerts, no communication with the public, qualifications are lost. Great reaction and special thanks for Pat Benatar on the right.
Glad you enjoyed it! I will see your “My dad reacts to Ayreon”-video soon ;-) Feel free to react to “Everybody Dies” and “Age of Shadows” videos from the (live) Ayreon Universe show. You will like it!
You are quickly becoming one of my favoriter when it Comes to reaction videos. It is so obvious that your reactions are real and not scripted to be entertaining... And still you are more entertaining than the ones trying to be. You should check out the Great Escape by Seventh Wonder. Tommy Who sings on this ayreon song is the Vocalist in Seventh Wonder.
I remember hearing about James Labrie doing this side project with Ayreon (huge DT fan since the "Images and Words era), but it fell off my radar after that and the last year has made me go back looking for new tunes. If anything has come from the pandemic for me, it has been having and taking the time to discover new music, this being one of the amazing adds to my library, along with a couple more buys of Ayreon. Amazing album and another GREAT reaction Tank!
Watched this reaction 3 times over the last week. So cool to see you digging this like you do. Been wearing this disc out in the gym. The entire album is killer!
If you like this and Nightwish, you need to do Epica: "Consign to Oblivion" live at the Zenith. From a fellow hockey player, you won't be disappointed.
Oh, Transitus is the next album, it is supported to drop on 27th September. There is a a series of short videos on Arjen's channel m.th-cam.com/users/ArjenALucassen
I love your reaction I heard from Ayeron for one months It is a project with different musicians and 3 days per year in Tilburg it is a amazing live action! The Dutch have every goddess female singe Floor Jansen, Annecke van Giersbergen, Simone Simons, Sharon del Adel and Charlotte Wessels 👍👍👍🤘🤘
I listen to metal for almost whole life (I don't remember many things between 0-4 years :D) , and I dare to say I heard many great bands in metal scene during my life (of course not all). Including bands like Rebellion or Rough Silk or Vicious Crusade etc (amazing bands that most people never heard of)... but I heard Ayeron for the first time early this years and I can't believe I never heard of him before. Since then I have all albums, I watched all life shows and I can't wait for the upcoming "Transitus" new album. Arjen's projects (including his "spin-offs" like Star One etc) has joined my TOP 5 bands very quickly.
You mentioned liking story driven music and your musical taste fitted perfectly, hence the recommendation for Ayreon. It's the greatest sci fi audiobook series ever created. You'll be buying the rest of his albums right after this one and will keep discovering new layers for decades. It's a fantastic universe to explore with your dad. Highly recommend to listen in track order, album order doesn't matter too much as with this one being a prequel for example. It's a journey through time, space and the human mind. Of all the beings that possess the power of creation I've encountered during my existence, Arjen (emphasis on Ar. The j is pronounced like the y in "you", and en is like "un" in "unexplored".) is my all time favorite
Great reaction! More Ayreon, please! Or possibly, the band he founded, Stream of Passion where you will meet a fantastic singer, ( who has appeared in Ayreon ), Marcela Bovio.
Arjen is THE man. Great guy and an absolutely fantastic musician and an even better producer. I just discovered Ayreon this year, and oh gawd..so MUCH GREAT stuff. The live shows are simply amazing. Fun fact: Arjen doesn't like playing live, so he always has a live band. He does do some songs, but never the whole show. I highly recommend Ayreon Universe (live) - all the BEST stuff with the BEST singers.
I discovered Ayreon a few months ago. This is my favorite piece of music by Ayreon, especially the part of Michael Mills. Loved your reaction and fact notes. Only the ‘plop’ sound with every fact, I could do without. It disturbs the song. Btw Arjen is pronounced as Ar-Yen.💕🤘
Hey, this review kicks ass. Once again, proud to be a supporter of your channel. It feels like we're both experiencing this song for the first time, even though I've listened to this song dozens of times! Your insight is solid, dude. This is awesome!
I agree with the commenters about having your dad come on . I have seen other channels react to a song and then bring a guest in to react to it again. We would watch it a second time.
Wow... big smile on my face now, Tank, thanks for making my day! Glad you enjoy it. That was a great review, very detailed and well laid out. Certainly among the best reaction vids I saw. You know your stuff! Which is obvious, if you grew up on Purple :-) Big hug for you and also for your dad... please keep up the good work! Oh... my name is pronounced Ar-Yun. Awesome! told ya he would lol.
Arjen just released the live version and holy sheezeballs it’s amazing, would love to see your reaction 3 years later
Ed Warby, one of the best drummers in Europe! Had the pleasure of being a tech for him when he was in Gorefest! Awesome drummer and very nice guy.
The fact that so many phenomenal musicians participate in every project Arjen does, says a lot about his music and of him as a person.
Agreed!
Thank you so much for doing Ayeron I have waited for you to do this amazing "band" marco from nightwish guests a lot and floors sister is one if the backing singers and I year up a lot listening to music as well tank
Will be here for Simone because she's #girlcrush. Also, look out for Arjen Lucassen in the comments later on because he does watch reactions.
If that’s the case, I hope he enjoys this and thinks I did it some justice.
@@TankTheTech Everything will be fine. I translates Michael Mills 01 part from binary code. It means Trust TH1. I love Michael Mills part.

What strikes me in any Aryeon video is how dang happy everyone looks when they’re performing. They’re all clearly having a blast.
You ought to redo the video for your dad. Really it would be his first time for him, and I would watch
Me too!!!
I went to the comments to say this!
I agree as well. I have seen other channels react to a song and then bring a guest in to react to it again. It would would be watched again.
Or just watch it with him a second time. Unless he is subscribed to your channel of course.. hmmm.
Yes. If your father has not watched this yet, watch it with him and record his reaction for us.
Joost, the piano player, was in Floor's first metal band, After Forever, and he is currently working with her on some solo tunes for an upcoming solo tour. Some of her After Forever bandmates are with Epica so you'll often see her as a Epica guest singer with BFF, Simone Simons.
Didn’t know that about Joost! Thank you!
@@TankTheTech And he wrote: "Joost you are still a Lul :) " in the comments in the video, which translates into: you are still a dick(head). Lul is a swearword in Dutch, which can also be used as a fun word.Depends how you say it.
And he is Knighted by King of Netherlands
Joost also produces albums in his studio. Dude has his hands in everything. What a BAMF.
@@TankTheTech I nearly spat out my beer when Arjen said that Joost was still a LUL 🤣
And down the Ayreon universe rabbit hole of 9 studio albums he goes. Let's GOOO!
9?!?!? Oh god. Haha
Almost 10, Transitus will be out in a month, I'm so hyped! And we could include the Star One ones and make it 12 🤔 😂
It's technically only seven.
He counts both Migrators as separate albums because they're the same story but very different sounds.
And he doesn't count Actual Fantasy as canon. So... six in the main arc. Three side arcs and a metric duckton of side projects.
Yeah. The Tall Dutch Hippie is prolific.
@@TankTheTech and every single one is a masterpiece
Thank you!

I've been thinking wether or not I should give any more recommendations, since I don't want to push your musical journey into any direction (or anyone's direction for that matter).
Look for a live version with Floor;-)
Delain - I'm relatively new to this one.
Take care!
Well what a great present, Tank is doing Ayreon on my birthday. Can't wait to see this in the morning!
Happy birthday 🎉
Happy Birthday 🥂
Happy birthday, Matthew!
Sick! Happy Birthday, dude!
Happy birthday dude.
I have to hold my hand up and say I was into Dexies midnight runners, Duran Duran, Adam and the Ants, back in the day 😆
I love most types of music but rock/metal are my favourite.
I like real singing, not auto tuned to death, can't sing live music.
fell in love with Ayreon with Star One Live on Earth!!!
React to "EPICA - Consign To Oblivion - Live at the Zenith (OFFICIAL VIDEO)" and prepare to take your hat off. 🤘
and design your universe retrospect live
And Sancta Terra from the live Retrospect show
YES
I discovered your channel thanks to Arjen who linked this video on Facebook. And I've been listenning to it for the past 3 hours .... damn ... ^^
There are so many good songs form Ayreon that I can't count them.
Thanks a ton, man! Arjen certainly is a great guy, and a wonderfully creative mind.
Hey Tank, this reaction just popped up on my radar.
Like allways, great reaction, like it so much.
A shorter one from Ayreon, Age of Shadows (live), featuring Marco and Floor and Hansi Kursch.
Vocal wise superb.
🤘🤘🤘 Thanks man!
Arjen sent me. I know little about the technical side of music, but I've been a huge fan of Arjen's work for a looong time and it's so great to see someone enjoying it for the first time!
That's awesome! He's such a good dude.
FINALLY someone reacts to what is possibly the best track in the history of the world ever.
If you try Sanctus Terra be sure to see the Retrospect live version with a full orchestra and choir.
(You can see floor and her sis singing side by side in the live version of the songs Eye Of Ra)
The binary dudes characters name is TH-1 and the binary translated is TRUST TH1
Tank, you might have some fun with this Ayreon song from their Universe concert. Its called Intergalactic space Crusaders. Floor's sister Irene is singing backup vocals on this. Mr. Lucassen is a huge fan of science fiction, and I believe this song is based around an old BBC series called Blake's 7.
Literally a world wide collaboration. So great. SO MUCH TALENT.
My fav is def the binary solo. So funny but really beautiful too.
And Floor of course ;)
Do the reaction with your Dad anyway :)
What a friggin masterpiece!! 🤘🤘
Floor Jansen has a very long history working with Arjen. She, and her sister Irene, were basically discovered by him.
This was easily the most difficult and most time I’ve put into a video so far on this channel. But I loved every second of it.
@@TankTheTech This piece always puts a smile on my face not just because of the awesome music and singers but as a gear sl*t as well.
@@TankTheTech o dam... you did not yet do the greatest show on earth...
@@TankTheTech hope not the last video. Anyhow you should check their Live performances also, and of course Star One Live with ser Allen Russell
Occasionally re-watch this reaction and it always makes my day. Job well done, good man. And congrats on the first award - well deserved
Thanks for that! Much appreciated!
Thanks a ton, man!
Now you can check Avantasia 😂
There's also a lot of guest singers and stuff
And shhhh...Tobias Sammet, the mastermind of Avantasia even has a guy called Marko Hietala on one of his albums called Ghostlights, on track Master of the Pendulum, sooooo...you know what to do 😂
Marco also features on some Ayreon work 😉. Check out the live version of The Age Of Shadows 🤘😉🤘.
That song is so beautiful, my son (6) loves it :D
It is PG approved :P
I'm excited he got Cammie Gilbert from Oceans of Slumber. She's amazing.
Dianne sang at Arjen’s last concert in Tilburg. Saw her there.
I think this goes for both Arjen and Tobias. And to be fair, if Tuomas would want it, I imagine he could also send out the batsignal and end up with a living room full of talented folks ;) Love that Arjen and Tobias cross-polinate if you will.
See, I promised. Next: Avantasia - The scarecrow live Wacken.

Phenomenal reaction. As a huge fan of Ayreon (and most all progmetal) I enjoyed it immensely.
Cannot wait until you and Chase start reacting to Ayreon's Universe Live stuff! Fantastic job on this reaction, as always!

And the composition.
And the video cuts were of the actual takes.

Is this what would happen if Mozart and Shakespeare had a weird science baby in the 21st century??? I love this, can't wait for Transitus to land on my doormat...
"a weird science baby" funny as fuck!!!!
Yes!! Totally waiting voor Transitus too!!!

Yes. Ayreon. More Ayreon please. You won’t be disappointed.
WOW!
So everybody dies from Ayreon universe live. Merlins will, eye of ra. All from the same concert.

I don't think there is one of us that wouldn't watch this again if you want to show your dad :)
Sure! Man, I have a lot of CD's from you!"
So much about that.
And for the next album he did after working with Mikael, he asked Jonas Renske from Katatonia, he said yes after talking to Mikael because Mikael recommended Ayreon to Jonas
Loved the reaction, your enthusiasm is infectious!
Thank you!
This was a first for me listening to this band. I'm gonna try and find their cds.
Yes, everyone understands how hard it is for musicians and it's not even about money. There are no concerts, no communication with the public, qualifications are lost. Great reaction and special thanks for Pat Benatar on the right.
Glad you enjoyed it! I will see your “My dad reacts to Ayreon”-video soon ;-)

Holy shit! Loved, loved, loved it! More please!

About 30 seconds after I saw this, I had he MP3 album downloaded. The entire thing is AWESOME!!!
I Absolutely loved watching your video. Those were the same expressions I had while watching the video for the first time.

Love our reaction throughout, but also with the last one ;)
I discovered Ayreon a few months ago. This is my favorite piece of music by Ayreon, especially the part of Michael Mills. Loved your reaction and fact notes. Only the ‘plop’ sound with every fact, I could do without. It disturbs the song. Btw Arjen is pronounced as Ar-Yen.💕🤘
