Thanks for your lovely video here, Gina, good to see you enjoy it so much! Goosebumps here... Please keep up the good work, hope you will enjoy some of my other stuff as well 🙂
Oh my goodness Arjen, thank you so much for taking the time to watch the reaction, comment and share such kind words. I cannot wait to check out more of your projects. Thank you for sharing your genius with all of us!☺️
Yep, you really, really have to do the official video. (Edit, the official video has a lot explained by Arjen himself.) You never know, Arjen might comment himself, done it before. R.
You REALLY need to check out the official video with Arjen's comments and all the original singers. As soon as this Blu-ray was announced I was like, "Take my money!". I already own all the other Ayreon live Blu-rays. And Arjen is a really nice guy. When his album "The Human Equation" came out I bought it, listened to it, and then emailed Arjen with a glowing review. Much to my surprise I got a personal reply from the man himself! He even shows up to leave comments on reactor videos from time to time. He brings so much joy and happiness to those who listen to his music.
Oh Sweetie, Welcome to Ayreon. It is not a band, it is a project and the brainchild of Arjen Anthony Luccassen, the genius behind it all. He does not appear on stage, because as he describes it, he has stage fright. At some point in the show, he emerges to the delight of every single person in the theater, but he rarely plays. He's the only composer on the planet anywhere near the level of Tuomas Holopainen of Nightwish. Now you need to see the video, where he explains who is doing what. He gets the elite of the elite musicians of the world to play for him. The two ladies at the end were Marcela Bovio, an amazing singer and Irene Jansen, Floor's "little" sister. Aneke van Giersbergen makes an appearance, and she is the "godmother" of female fronted symphonic metal. The guy in the middle is the Artificial Intelligence who is shutting down the humans in the story. He is Mike Mills and did all of the harmonies, composing his part on his own. It is better explained in the original video, and is as close to Freddie Mercury as anybody can get. Each of these performers are from other amazing bands, each singer fronts their own band, so this is truly an all-star elite collection of talent. The keyboardist, Joost van den Broek (pardon me, Sir Joost) was in Floor's first band, After Forever, and is Arjen's right hand man in arranging and conducting the live performances. They are very dear friends, these two geniuses. Watch the original video, then watch the live performance (from an earlier concert) of "Everybody Dies" to have your mind completely blown again. Each album is another chapter of the story in the universe of fiction created by Arjen. Arjen is the gift that keeps on giving.
A small correction from the story: TH-1 played by Michael Mills is a loyal androïd. The enemy is the 'Frame, a network of linked computers. The President, played by Tom Eklund, has performed the follyness to hand over the full control of planet Alpha to the 'Frame, for he wanted to solve the ecological problems of Alpha for once and for all. The solution initiated by the 'Frame was to eradicate humal life on Alpha alltogether. When the humans found out it was too late to take control back. The Captain (played by John Jaycee Cuijper, Jaycee for short) has constructed a starship called "StarBlade" which is available to transport a selected group of Alphans to a new world.
@@TheMateriaalkunde Excellent correction. BTW: the binary that Michael Mills sings translates in ASCII (American Standard Computer Interface and Interchange) to "Trust TH-1". Arjen is just too clever!
Yes, Arjen Lucassen blows your mind!!!! No escaping from him. He is indeed, as stated in an earlier reaction, the worlds most epic genius prog rock metal composer, next to Tuomas from Nightwish. The guy has no band, but a huge diary. In that he embraces the word most fantastic singers and musicians. And I mean the world top. He writes science fiction stories, put them in music, complete with beautiful graphics. He writes music for some 30 years now, if I am not mistaken. Next to that he is also very nice and a pleasure to work with. The result is that everyone loves to cooperate in his projects and love working with each other. How powerful is that? It radiates from the podium. The guy at the keyboards is Joost van den Broek. He is a genius too. Produces a lot of music and bands like for instance epica. Try " the sixth extinction" from this same concert. The official video from Arjen. The concert is called 01011001 live beneath the waves 2023 Tilburg. Both songs are from the upcoming DVD in may. I was lucky to be in the audience. The doctors still try to remove my goosebumps. No chance. Arjen Rules.
@@diedzjeeoudshoorn7726 Excellent comment and very true. Tuomas and Arjen are quite alike, in that they are both pure genius, seem to have zero ego and everybody who works with them loves them immensely. If you listen to Arjenn in interviews, he would definitely qualify for the nicest guy on the planet. Much love to him!!
Minor correction: Hansi has said he will never work with Jon Schaffer ever again due to Jon’s involvement in the 1/6 insurrection, disbanding Demons & Wizards in the process, so you can safely list Hansi as “ex-Demons & Wizards” now.
I was there in september 2023. The best concert (rock opera) i have ever seen. Very high quality regarding the singers and musicians. They could fill the Royal Albert Hall with just a flick of the wrist. Thanks to Arjen for making this all possible and i hope we will enjoy his music for decades to come. Proud to be a Dutchie.
I hadn't seen this live version, Wow! Yes, you have to listen to the teaser video :) Arjen calls in some fantastic performers for the live "Project" concert. The Netherlands tourism industry owes him! Numbers... "I, I haven't counted how many humans are on stage" :) A sound engineers delight. So many guest singers, Arjen brings the best out of them. Sir Joost van den Broek on keyboards. 8:38 Simone Simons, Epica. The guy with the cyborg hat? Michael Mills, the "binary" singer! Toehider. "What is going on?" 20:43 Anneke von Giersburgen, the Nightingale. At the end, that was a Jansen sister, Floors sibling; Irene, with Marcela Bovio, Wow :) Yep, WOW!
Welcome to the Master of Prog Rock! If you want more of Ayreon then check out the whole concert for Ayreon Universe. Every single performance is amazing! Most people start with 'Everybody Dies'. But my personal favorites are 'The Druids Turned to Stone' and 'Merlin's Will'. You'll see why.
I didn't even realize this live version had been dropped. And I never would have thought they could do this piece of art live. Arjen Luccassen is a genius, on the same level as Tuomas Holopainen of Nightwish. Do make sure to take a look at the official video as it explains a lot about the story.
You will see Arjen himself playing in official video, and he explains backround stuff too. Check that out. And im so happy, that you discovered Ayreon! Its the best thing to discover and you will enjoy everything! All the live concerts are top top top notch and albums worth of listening. You wont regret! Cheers from Finland!
There is so much talent on that stage that it should collapse into a singularity. Arjen Anthony Lucassen is a genius and a musical polymath. He is another composer/creator whose work soars immeasurably high over the rotting landscape of autotuned trashpop. Addendum: I love seeing you so flabbergasted at what Arjen is delivering. In a class by itself.
Well, that's what happens when someone who writes concept albums (Arjen Lucassen, the composer of Ayreon, but he hads loads of side projects like Star One (songs based on science fiction movies/TV-series), the Gentle Storm, Guilt Machine, and many others), has "collected" many talented singers and musicians over the years. The next thing you should view is the album version of The Day The World Breaks Day, because Arjen has included many behind the scenes snippets and explanations about the instruments and singers, and then you can review this video to realise that something that should be not possible live has been made possible. (This doesn't have to be on the channel, make it a private treat-yourself ;-) ) Then the Live version of "Everybody Dies" is very recommended, as you can see more of Mike Mills, and many others. And then you can start watching the closing songs of this (and the previous editions) of the concert(s), with "The Sixth Extinction" and "The Eye of Ra", where basically everyone (!) comes on stage to sing along. So enjoy yourself on this new adventure, and be prepared to encounter many many singers and musicians, which will lead you to many other reactions. (Just don't look up the singers in advance, let yourself be surprised and play the guess-the-artist game).
Another Ayreon sing-along is at the end of the Electric Castle concert; Songs Of The Ocean is a great song, based on the movie Star Trek IV - The Voyage Home.
Funny that you mention Dream Theater because the song starts with Damian Wilson here whose part is sung by James LaBrie on the album. If you like (reaction or not) there's a video on Arjen Anthony Lucassen's channel (the mastermind and composer behind Ayreon) which has the studio version plus on screen comments by Arjen. Other than that i can recommend the live shows Ayreon Universe and Electric Castle live and other Tales and oc the only other officially published song from the same concert The Sixth Extiction (Live beneath the waves show 2023). You are in for a treat with everey single song 🎸🤘🏻!

@ginxreacts Yay, you made it to Ayreon! I was sure you would like Arjen's music. There is so much to geek out over with his music. Your classification as Prog Metal Opera is pretty much spot on. And yes, the live mixes are always that good. This time they even installed a full surround system in the venue so the live mix could be surround. I was amazed how good the live sound in the venue was. And having the synth and guitar solos fly around in the room was just epic. As others have said already, take a look at the studio video for this song, too. The background information that Arjen provides about the recording/production, musicians, vocalists and story are really interesting and may answer some questions. If you want a good overview, you should take a look at the Ayreon Universe show. The whole show has a playlist on TH-cam. If you go through the show in order, every singer will have their name on the big screen when they are on stage the first time. The show was the first official Ayreon concert after 22 Years and is a Best-Of compilation with songs from many albums. Here is the link to the playlist: th-cam.com/play/PLJGn3wi7b7b606GfoKAdOgm6rtX9OliRc.html&si=7IdxK6WZq4IWub4I There are always the same few songs that get requested a lot for reasons that will get obvious. But the whole show is just fun and good music with a lot of variety and musicians obviously enjoying to play. And I love how unapologetically epic the opening of the show is. You might even recognise a certain costume... 😀 For more of the musical theatre aspect, look at Into The Electric Castle And Other Stories show where they perfomed where they performed a whole album with narration by John Delancie (Q from Star Trek) and a few other songs afterwards. Link: th-cam.com/play/PLBw9in18G_7rS82fF7KrvUxiQTtbzE1UA.html&si=uffvMJ22D7rXGrxF Have fun exploring Arjen's music. Besides Ayreon, there are also Plan Nine, Star One, Supersonic Revolution by Arjen and a few others he was involved in.
Oh wow! Thank you for all of this info, it all is very intriguing and Incannot wait to check it all out!

@@ginxreacts You are very welcome. It took me about a year from discovering Ayreon here on TH-cam to attending the Beneath the Waves shows in Tilburg last September. I can promise that Ayreon will not get boring.
The part where you ask ‘what is going on’ is a part performed by Michael Mills from Toehider. In this song he plays the part of a computer/AI called TH-1. All of his lyrics are binary code for ‘trust Th-1’
The cool thing about Ayreon is that all the albums sort of tie into the same story. 'The Source' (the album which this song is from) is technically the start of the story. It's about a race of humans that give control of their planet to a computer (the 'frame) to help solve an environmental catastrophe, but the computer determines that the best course of action is to eliminate the humans. Ten humans and the robot TH-1 escape the planet on the only interstellar ship they have (the 'Starblade') along with the ships crew and head to an ocean planet. The chemist creates a drug ('The Source', aka 'Liquid Eternity') that allows them to evolve into an 'aquatic race'. The drug also makes them basically immortal and allows them to communicate telepathically. The album ends with the survivors (ten plus the ships small crew) living on their new planet ('Planet Y') in relative peace, but in the final track we learn that TH-1 is becoming a new version of the 'frame deep in the ocean. The next album in the timeline, 01011001 ('Y') tells us how machines have now taken over this new planet, and the humans have basically merged with the machines are losing their emotions and sense of time. They now call themselves 'The Forever', since they are essentially ageless drones at this point. We also learn about how they seeded a comet with DNA and sent it to Earth, where it creates human life on our planet. The Forever believe they can live through us telepathically and that they may regain their emotions by doing so. Some of The Forever believe that we need to advance more quickly, and use their telepathy to give us medicine/technology, but this results in us advancing quicker than our morality can cope with. Eventually The Forever realize humanity is doomed and has to decide if they will give them the technology to reverse their past mistakes. Somewhere in the timeline sits the album 'The Electric Castle'From a summary by Arjen: "At the end of the journey those that successfully dealt with their personal demons find out that the voice belongs to an alien named 'Forever of the Stars', a member of an alien race living in a distant galaxy. These aliens created planet Earth and its people as an experiment so they could study, and hopefully one day experience emotions, as they themselves lost feelings eons ago." That's only three albums (less than half!) but I believe those three give you a solid foundation for how the story plays out. Also, I highly recommend any of the Electric Castle Live videos; They are just so fun to watch, plus John de Lancie ('Q' from Star Trek) plays the 'Forever of the Stars' character, which Arjen said he originally based on Q.
Best concert I ever attended. The live mix was in Surround which made Michael Mill’s binary part even more epic. The Blu Ray of the full concert is coming out in a few weeks.
Arjen is the only person I know of that can get that much talent on one stage, while keeping a singularity from forming by sheer force of will. Another good example of that is 'The Eye of Ra', which has an ending that will blow your mind. Also, Joost is so much fun to watch on anything with keys...
Oooooh. Just stumbled into this one at 1 min post-pub. Sorry I don't have the singer lineup for you.** Starts out with Damian Wilson. "How many humans"? well, it starts with 11 singers... maybe more for the live show. ** I lied : Damian Wilson, Daniel Gildenlow, Jan Willem Ketelaers, Simone Simons, Maggy Luyten, John Jaycee Cuijpers, Hansi Kürsch, Mike Mills, Tom Englund, Anneke van Giersbergen, Marcela Bovio and Irene Jansen. The Ayreon rabbithole is wide and deep, but you have in fact, stumbled into a new branch of the warren. This video is the second one (I believe) from the small series of concerts done in The Netherlands in the fall of '23 The entire thing will be out on hard media in the June-ish timeframe, iirc. I'm sure Arjen Anthony Lucassen will reduce a few more songs like this along the way, building up to the release date.... and of course, all this music is already available on recroded format. Butbutbut, just like Nightwish, Ayreon is generally a band best served LIVE, and there are some great recordings out there. Other LIVE Ayreon clips are - Everybody Dies - Intergaactic Space Crusaders - And the Druids Turned to Stone - Magnetism - Theory of Everything - The Blackboard - Dawn of a Million Souls - River of Time - Twisted Coil I'm sure someone else will give you a full listing, with proper YT links to the best copies out there.
Oh girl, you've just scratched the surface here. A giant rabbit hole in witch Alice would have been for always. And the mastermind reacted too. Just go for it and keep digging and exploring. You have a gigantesk journey ahead of you. Not only with Ayreon, but with NW, Epica, Within Temptation, The Gathering, Delain, Unleash the Archers. All female fronted but Ayreon and that is obvious. Rock on!
19:20 "There's not even a word for it!". That's right. The only word that applies is Ayreon. You're about to embark upon a journey through the mother of all rabbitholes. We had an unforgettable experience in 013, Tilburg. This fantastic live show will be out on BD in a month from now. Two other legendary shows are there for you to explore right now: Ayreon Universe Live 2017 and "Electric Castle Live & other Tales" 2019. The banger with the uplifting title "Ayreon - Everybody Dies (Ayreon Universe)" will give you a taste of the Universe Live concert, and as a sneak peek into ECL2019 I'd recommend "Ayreon Isis And Osiris Live In Tilburg 2019". Enjoy this amazing flight & Cheers from Amsterdam! 🤘
Welcome to the world of Ayreon and Arjen's other wizardry. I became a fan literally 20 years ago when I first listened to the Human Equation album.. in its entirety.. I was planning on just checking out a song or three. But I couldn't bear to stop listening! I loved watching you react to this live performance. I could see your mind being sort of blown here by the scope of it all!
This was the last song of the show. The song is not related to the concept /concert. The concert was based on the album 01011001. Kind of an extra gift after the amazing concert. The whole concert was mind blowing. The whole weekend was mind blowing! 5 concert that weekend in the same venue. The artist are from all around the world and also gave free concerts throughout the city that weekend. Can't wait until the next. ❤
BTW, “The Sixth Extinction” is the last song of this concert and came out on YT a month or two ago. It features all of the singers and musicians that are part of this wonderful concert extravaganza 😊 including the mastermind Arjen himself.
Please have a look at The Sixth Extinction from the same concert. It has an even more insane amount of talent in the line up and it will for sure blow you away. Also, from the Universe concert by Ayreon, as others suggested, 'Everybody Dies' is great, also 'Day Sixteen (loser)', 'Electric Castle', and, well, actually, the whole Universe concert is on you tube and it's all amazing...
Ayreon is something else, you need to listen to the other song he released from this show as well, it is even better... The tall girl at the end is floor's (nightwish) sister irene btw ;)
As someone who was at this show, I can tell you that the mix on these videos is amazing. It sounds even better than in person, but obviously the live experience as a whole is better. An Ayreon concert is probably one of only a couple concerts I'd be willing to travel all the way to Europe to see, and I'll quite possibly do it again in a few years if they pick the right album to perform.
Dazed? A beautiful stage? An unbelievable gathering of skilled singers? At the time of The Human Equation (circa 2005-2010), we were discussing on forums the idea of making events out of Arjen's rock-operas: no tour, a fix venue with the fans doing the trip to attend the one of a time event. "Build it and they will come." And apparently, the seed fell on a rich piece of land. ;-) Of course Europe with shorter distances than America is a soil that is richer, but the fact is the idea was carried out masterfully and became a tradition in the Netherlands for Arjen's creations.
17:25 Mike beating people into submission with sheer talent as he does. It's all him, he wrote this part and it's so beyond impressive that it tends not to register with normies. Check out "How Do Ghosts Work" from his project Toehider. Make sure you're sitting down.
I'm a long, looong time fan of Arjen, etc... For some unknown reason, I've delayed jumping into this latest performance... Until today. I decided to catch up, and I thought You would be the perfect channel to bring me up to date. I. Was. Not. Wrong. You helped me experience this with your clearly open and objective interaction with this performance. All the artists and the production and the beautiful product. Well experienced! Thanks And cheers Please keep it up and enjoy your journey! rl 🤘👹🤘
Great reaction! I loved the expressions on your face during this song! There is a lot of great music to be discovered in th Ayreon/Arjen Anthony Lucassen rabbit hole!
Great reaction :) Funny that you should mention "Dream Theater" James Labrie is the opening singer in the "studio version" of this masterpiece. It's worth watching, and Arjen comments on the whole thing :) Greetings from Norway :)
If you look closly to those singers you will have alot to react to in the feuture, the only of them who only have singing for an hobby is Floors sister irene, you knows her when you see her,and shes the same as her sister an awesome singer and shes with those backup singers, the rest of those really talented singers have their ovn bands,so welcome dovn the rabbit hole
The genius of Arjen Anthony Lucassen and Joost van den Broek for that matter, cannot be under estimated. It is the reason why so many talented musicians of all types are drawn to the Ayreon flame like moths. Willingly, I hasten to add.
You've got to watch the original video with running commentary by Arjen, which includes an Easter Egg or two that you'll love. It can be found as: "Ayreon - The Day That The World Breaks Down - The Source (2017)"
I have now seen this clip 25 times, but what struck me is that during the part that TH-1 (Mike M) the lamps at the top of the room are also 1s and 0s the same as the text... just pay attention.🙃
Well, I do hope you'll go back and watch the music video, it's worth your time whether you react to it or not. Arjen is one of the most amazing composers going, and I hope you can listen to more of his stuff. It just wonderful :)
Yeah, if you watch the original video it explains a lot. This was mostly the cast of the 01 album, and then they did this song at the end as a bonus after performing the album in full. This song is from 'The Source' album. Every Ayreon album is a Rock Opera.
I reacted to this as it played its premier on you tube, I spoke to Arjen today and he is about to start signing all the pre orders, Im eagerly awaiting my copy.
This certainly sounds so much better than the early fan phone recordings. Definitely cleaned up in the studio and able to choose the best version. Unusually I still prefer the music video and the choice of artists. Arjen still put on one hell of a show.
This is amazing live but if you want to fully see and understand what is going on please go view this version. You're welcome!! Ayreon - The Day That The World Breaks Down - The Source (2017) LINK: th-cam.com/video/oFuMKdrzPqU/w-d-xo.html
This is prog of its finest. Seems this is completely up your alley. Not often I've seen someone flabbergasted as you are reacting to Ayreon. So much to check out. First of all the official video. Then "The Sixth Extinction", The Eye of Ra, Everybody dies, Valley of the Queens, The Age of Shadows and many more.
It’s the musical equivalent of Christmas morning. Could you imagine the results a collaboration between Tuomas and Arjen? The Finnish/Dutch wizards of musical drama?
This is prog metal musical theater at its finest. Mike Mills (wild costume) is playing the role of TH-1 (the computer) singing binary code. It translates to "Trust TH-1". Yes originally all him, and added to in this live performance by the ladies. All of Ayreon's live performances are incredilbe.
Wow, i had never seen this version, only the official video and i guess if it was needed a replacement for the Queen, Anneke, Marcela and Queen's Sister were the best option, keep rocking and stay safe!
This is soo cool. Just today I learned about the live one. As many have said, you need to look at the original MV. It explains everything. And it has even more impressive singers. And you get to see Arjen play. I actually prefer his guitar playing over the live one, its more sophisticated.
Ayreon is one of the projects by Arjan Anthony Lucassen. Some other enterprises: Gentle Storm, Star One, Supersonic Revolution and, recently, Lucassen & Soeterboek's Plan Nine.
Now you've done it ! 🤣 Welcome to probably the biggest and most entertaining rabbit hole in rock . Superstars from around the globe brought together to perform his musical creations by the GENIUS that is Dutchman - Arjen Luccassen . There will be hundreds of suggestions of AYREON songs you should listen to so I'll leave that to others - all I will say is that whatever you choose will delight and amaze you ( and so it should ! ) SMALL FOOTNOTE : Worth listening to the Official MV of this song - it will explain lots and Arjen is a very funny guy ( who believe it or not plays all the guitar , bass and keyboard tracks in the studio version ) ENJOY !
@@ginxreacts it's up to you as you will recognize at least one singer (in the video you watch it's her sister at the end) but both are often featured in his songs. But you can check it on your own but you can make more songs from him
And theres Always a an Jannsen on Stage, when Ayreon do This;) surely mentioned, but an Watch of the Studio version will enhance your Fun and Aww Factor even More;) Stay healthy! Metalhead, frankonia
Regarding the quality of the audio mix, it probably helps when the show's producer and keyboardist, is the one of the best album producers in the world. 😉
Here is the only minus point.... They don`t tour. I am lucky to be living in the right country. Wich isn`t to say that people come from all over the world to witness AYREON live.
The best way to find ayreon.... Ps you picked up a dreamtheater link... you should watch the original video to find the actual link and to learn about this whole project. On and Everybody dies live next.
Unfortunately, Arjen can not tour like other bands because he uses singers from 11 different bands just for this one song. Not all the singers from the original album could perform for this concert.
I think you should have listened to the original official BTS video first since it makes pretty explicit what is going on. But it is what it is, so you have no idea why Jeroen Goossens (fluitist) got a round of applause when making his entrance, among many other things. I am fascinated by the vocal substitutions in this live version since your chances of snagging the original singers like James LaBrie, Russell Allen, Floor Jansen and others is basically zero. Especially Damian Wilson who is the Swiss army knife of tenor singers doing metal. I enjoyed your reaction very much, but it would have been even better if you had seen the OG first.
Please, please also react to the original video too. Not that the live version isn't awesome. I mean, it couldn't be more Epic even it had the lead singer of Epica. Oh hang on ...
aaah....get lost i change you don't understand anything about music otherwise you wouldn't interrupt on the best pieces and by law you only need to interrupt once
Hey you reacted to Ayreon so I subscribed! I was actually at that concert and it was fantastic! Please check out the official video of this song, it explains a lot! For instance that Ayreon is not a band but a project, one of the many by Arjen Anthony Lucassen! The other song that had brought out of this performance is The Sixth Extiction, please check that one too!!!
Thanks for your lovely video here, Gina, good to see you enjoy it so much! Goosebumps here... Please keep up the good work, hope you will enjoy some of my other stuff as well 🙂
THE MAN HIMSELF! :)
Arjen🤘🤘
I did say it was a possibility. 🙂
Oh my goodness Arjen, thank you so much for taking the time to watch the reaction, comment and share such kind words. I cannot wait to check out more of your projects. Thank you for sharing your genius with all of us!☺️
I see you finally escaped from the bluesy solo hahahahaha hugs from Spain and thanks for all the joy 🤘😉🤘
Great reaction, make sure to check the official video, too (with all original singers/characters, promise you'll not regret it) 😊
Yep, you really, really have to do the official video. (Edit, the official video has a lot explained by Arjen himself.)
You never know, Arjen might comment himself, done it before.

I'd rather call it the "studio" version.... Unofficial sounds so illegal to me..

Yes, Arjen Lucassen blows your mind!!!! No escaping from him. He is indeed, as stated in an earlier reaction, the worlds most epic genius prog rock metal composer, next to Tuomas from Nightwish.

@@chadbennett7873 I hope he gets the fame he deserves. So that in 300 years time we will honour him next to the Beethovens and Bachs from the past.

Minor correction: Hansi has said he will never work with Jon Schaffer ever again due to Jon’s involvement in the 1/6 insurrection, disbanding Demons & Wizards in the process, so you can safely list Hansi as “ex-Demons & Wizards” now.
Another minor correction. Joost van den Broek has been a member of After Forever on keys, at least for the American tour they did in 2007. 🙂
@@trokoshea1 yep i know !!
🇳🇱🤘😊
Ditto!
I hadn't seen this live version, Wow! Yes, you have to listen to the teaser video :)
Arjen calls in some fantastic performers for the live "Project" concert.
The Netherlands tourism industry owes him!
Numbers...
"I, I haven't counted how many humans are on stage" :)
A sound engineers delight.
So many guest singers, Arjen brings the best out of them.
Sir Joost van den Broek on keyboards.
8:38 Simone Simons, Epica.
The guy with the cyborg hat? Michael Mills, the "binary" singer! Toehider.
"What is going on?"
20:43 Anneke von Giersburgen, the Nightingale.
At the end, that was a Jansen sister, Floors sibling; Irene, with Marcela Bovio, Wow :)
Yep, WOW!
The first verse _is_ sung by Dream Theater's James LaBrie in the record version
Here is the link to the playlist: th-cam.com/play/PLJGn3wi7b7b606GfoKAdOgm6rtX9OliRc.html&si=7IdxK6WZq4IWub4I
There are always the same few songs that get requested a lot for reasons that will get obvious. But the whole show is just fun and good music with a lot of variety and musicians obviously enjoying to play. And I love how unapologetically epic the opening of the show is. You might even recognise a certain costume... 😀
For more of the musical theatre aspect, look at Into The Electric Castle And Other Stories show where they perfomed where they performed a whole album with narration by John Delancie (Q from Star Trek) and a few other songs afterwards.

Have fun exploring Arjen's music.
Ayreon is not a band but one of arjen lucassen many projects and this man is a genius and his projects are progressieve rock opera s
The part where you ask ‘what is going on’ is a part performed by Michael Mills from Toehider. In this song he plays the part of a computer/AI called TH-1. All of his lyrics are binary code for ‘trust Th-1’
Ginx, Michael Mills is singing in extended ASCII 🙂
And his costume was apparently salvaged from the previous concert, some 6 years ago.
If you would like to see more Ayreon, the live version of “Everybody dies” is terrific, and “Twisted coil” will knock your socks off.
"This is, there's not even a word for it!" - yes there is, that word is Ayreon.
Also, I highly recommend any of the Electric Castle Live videos; They are just so fun to watch, plus John de Lancie ('Q' from Star Trek) plays the 'Forever of the Stars' character, which Arjen said he originally based on Q.
oh yeah one off backing vocalists is Irene Jansen the sister of!
Best concert I ever attended. The live mix was in Surround which made Michael Mill’s binary part even more epic. The Blu Ray of the full concert is coming out in a few weeks.
Oh, and Gina welcome, you have just obviously become an Ayreonaut 😊!
Check the official video with the original singers!! ;-)
The most I love how you just don't have words. There are no words for this. Music at it's best ❤
Sorry I don't have the singer lineup for you.**
Starts out with Damian Wilson.
This video is the second one (I believe) from the small series of concerts done in The Netherlands in the fall of '23
The entire thing will be out on hard media in the June-ish timeframe, iirc.
Other LIVE Ayreon clips are
- Everybody Dies
- Intergaactic Space Crusaders
- And the Druids Turned to Stone
- Magnetism
- Theory of Everything
- The Blackboard
- Dawn of a Million Souls
- River of Time
- Twisted Coil
I'm sure someone else will give you a full listing, with proper YT links to the best copies out there.
Rock on!
You seem to be enthralled... I can imagine you in the audience having the concert of your life. My daughter and I were there and for us it was ❤
Well, this was amazing. I can't wait for your reactions to more Ayreon, and to all the other bands Ayreon will lead you to lol
Witnessing your discovery was a privilege. Thank you, lady Ginx. 🙂
Ayreon is something else, you need to listen to the other song he released from this show as well, it is even better... The tall girl at the end is floor's (nightwish) sister irene btw ;)
NICE….I was definitely very curious about her because they look and sound very similar!
Fantastic live performace. No more to say.
Loved watching you watch Ayreon!
Thx Ginx! I only knew the official Video (you should react to this too!) but this live version is awesome too. Great reaction,
17:25 Mike beating people into submission with sheer talent as he does. It's all him, he wrote this part and it's so beyond impressive that it tends not to register with normies. Check out "How Do Ghosts Work" from his project Toehider. Make sure you're sitting down.
The artists are superb in their own rights putting them together you get the greatest ever-changing super group to-date.
I Think you loved it!
a deep catalog to go!❤❤❤❤❤
I'm a long, looong time fan of Arjen, etc...
Thanks
And cheers
Please keep it up and enjoy your journey!

🤘👹🤘
Great reaction! I loved the expressions on your face during this song! There is a lot of great music to be discovered in th Ayreon/Arjen Anthony Lucassen rabbit hole!
Too appreciate this performance even more, you have to listen to the studio version with all the eleven main singers....
Great reaction :) Funny that you should mention "Dream Theater" James Labrie is the opening singer in the "studio version" of this masterpiece. It's worth watching, and Arjen comments on the whole thing :) Greetings from Norway :)
This is earfood! thank you for this amazing reaction.
Great love it ; the Live-one (only wach the video) and your reaction (enjoyed together) thank you
greetings from NW-Army-Germany and SabatonFan
Arjen Lucassen "discovered" Floor Jansen. The last part of this song originally sung by Floor, but now by her sister Irene Jansen...
I reacted to this as it played its premier on you tube, I spoke to Arjen today and he is about to start signing all the pre orders, Im eagerly awaiting my copy.
Awesome!
This certainly sounds so much better than the early fan phone recordings. Definitely cleaned up in the studio and able to choose the best version. Unusually I still prefer the music video and the choice of artists. Arjen still put on one hell of a show.
That's the dutch way to rock your ass off!!!! ( In a good ...what ??? the best way) Greetings from the Netherlands .👍👍👍
This is amazing live but if you want to fully see and understand what is going on please go view this version. You're welcome!!

You REALLY enjoyed it. Now listen to more stuff from Arjen ❤
Thank you for reacting to Ayreon - the creation of the maestro, Arjen Anthony Lucassen. You thought Nightwish was a rabbit hole.... 😄😄.
Great reaction. Thank you. Such great artists.
Proost from tha Low Countries (remember just a tiny Atlantic pond away)
It’s the musical equivalent of Christmas morning. Could you imagine the results a collaboration between Tuomas and Arjen? The Finnish/Dutch wizards of musical drama?
This is prog metal musical theater at its finest. Mike Mills (wild costume) is playing the role of TH-1 (the computer) singing binary code. It translates to "Trust TH-1". Yes originally all him, and added to in this live performance by the ladies. All of Ayreon's live performances are incredilbe.
So freaking fantastic!!
Wow, i had never seen this version, only the official video and i guess if it was needed a replacement for the Queen, Anneke, Marcela and Queen's Sister were the best option, keep rocking and stay safe!
Definitely check out more Ayreon and live shows The Electric Castle and Other Tales is awesome requesting 😊
This is soo cool. Just today I learned about the live one.
As many have said, you need to look at the original MV. It explains everything. And it has even more impressive singers. And you get to see Arjen play. I actually prefer his guitar playing over the live one, its more sophisticated.
Tilburg NL is the place to be in september 2025. Arjen just announced the 30 years celebration show :) I'll be mad if I don't get tickets :D
Ayreon is one of the projects by Arjan Anthony Lucassen. Some other enterprises: Gentle Storm, Star One, Supersonic Revolution and, recently, Lucassen & Soeterboek's Plan Nine.
Arjen works with a lot of great artists and choirs. Check out Avantasia, Kamelot and Scardust
U need to hear the 2:03 hour version of this concert. Listen in the bathtub so u don’t hafta get up to use the toilet til it’s done😂
🤣
Now you've done it ! 🤣 Welcome to probably the biggest and most entertaining rabbit hole in rock .
Superstars from around the globe brought together to perform his musical creations by the GENIUS that is Dutchman - Arjen Luccassen . There will be hundreds of suggestions of AYREON songs you should listen to so I'll leave that to others - all I will say is that whatever you choose will delight and amaze you ( and so it should ! )
SMALL FOOTNOTE : Worth listening to the Official MV of this song - it will explain lots and Arjen is a very funny guy ( who believe it or not plays all the guitar , bass and keyboard tracks in the studio version )
ENJOY !
You do need to see the Official video from back when. You'll see why Dream Theater came to mind. Arjen does great works.
you should also check out the "music video" for this song as some other singers are in it (and there are names of all the singers)
I will be! Would it be cool to react to it as well, or just enjoy it on my own?
@@ginxreacts it's up to you as you will recognize at least one singer (in the video you watch it's her sister at the end) but both are often featured in his songs.
But you can check it on your own but you can make more songs from him
@@ginxreacts react as Arjen himself gives nice details what he thought and made there.
And theres Always a an Jannsen on Stage, when Ayreon do This;) surely mentioned, but an Watch of the Studio version will enhance your Fun and Aww Factor even More;)
Stay healthy!
Metalhead, frankonia
Regarding the quality of the audio mix, it probably helps when the show's producer and keyboardist, is the one of the best album producers in the world. 😉
The word for it is "Ayreon"!!!!!
Hallo, next "Universe" and "The Electric Castle" life , you will be flabbergasted. Greetings from the Netherlands.
🤘😊🇫🇮💙🪄🎼✨💯👍
Here is the only minus point.... They don`t tour. I am lucky to be living in the right country.
Wich isn`t to say that people come from all over the world to witness AYREON live.
Hi welcome to the rabbit hole try epica and sabaton next or try floor jansen solo songs 🤟🤟
You should have done the video first. That would have answered a lot of your questions beforehand.
The best way to find ayreon....
Ps you picked up a dreamtheater link... you should watch the original video to find the actual link and to learn about this whole project. On and Everybody dies live next.
For lack of a better explenation... This is but a glimpse in Arjen's world and imagine it's just An explenation of how the rest of this cd is gonna go
Its GREAT with irene.. but i miss FLOOR doing the last part
So Arjen didn't have to practice the solo after all 😂. You'll understand once you see the video, it's all explained there.
He cheated! LUL!!😂
🤘
Ehm, Ginx, did you notice that the composer himself reacted to your video? Might want to answer and pin...
Please do "Everybody dies" next (th-cam.com/video/9AAXtUdM7xE/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygUOZXZlcnlib2R5IGRpZXM%3D)
Original is better
I am sorry, all musicians are great and played it like the original, but one singer did not meet my expectation
@@SanderDuijff Let me guess: Daniel?😂
🇬🇧 Norfolk with you so nice to see the live version 😊so fitting that Floors sister did floors part at the end
aaah....get lost i change you don't understand anything about music otherwise you wouldn't interrupt on the best pieces and by law you only need to interrupt once
well I promise I’m not goin anywhere AND you don’t have to watch my videos 😉
Hey you reacted to Ayreon so I subscribed! I was actually at that concert and it was fantastic! Please check out the official video of this song, it explains a lot! For instance that Ayreon is not a band but a project, one of the many by Arjen Anthony Lucassen! The other song that had brought out of this performance is The Sixth Extiction, please check that one too!!!
Thank you!
