  • Today we take the 42160 Audi RS Q e-tron outside and test its performance against the 42099 X-Treme Off-Roader. After that, we'll add some extra power with two BuWizz 3.0 Pro units and check out the performance boost!

      Audi is quite cheap for a Technic RC car but X-Treme Off roader is really expensive. It is 2 or even 3 times more expensive than Audi.

    The Audi one of the single greatest Lego Technic RC car of all time. Nice look,advenced building techniques here and there,new parts and recoloured useful parts.

    This was really cool to see. You can definitely get a lot more speed out of the Audi as already shown in the vid. But it could probably go even faster so my vote is for more speed.

    Nice video Balasz, to be honest I'd like to see more of that crawler course, it looks sick. Try putting a couple of buggy motors in the Audi [or buwizz BMs] and see how well it performs on a hard sand [like at the beach]. It's obviously not designed to be an offroad monster, but the speed by default does disappoint, that's my only gripe with the set. Lego should really be doing better with their RC vehicles these days.

  • @GundersenMarius
    @GundersenMarius 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    It would be cool if these rc cars had a gearbox which could change from high speed to high torque and lock/unlock the differential. Probably too much of a modification for this set though.

    Nice video (as alway) informative and to the point.
    At about 3:38 you tell that there is no big difference in torque between the differentials but I would like to see the differences.
    The differential with the red gear (ratio 12 to 28) should show at least more torque then the differential with the yellow gears (ratio 14 to 22).
    It will be about 1/3 slower but it might climb better.

    • @RacingBrick
      @RacingBrick  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If I replace the hubs in 42099 with the new ones than I'd need to gear down the outputs heavily to have any reasonable torque.

  • @shroomzzz
    @shroomzzz 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    A locked rear in the audi should significantly improve it's off road capability with minimal impact on turning. Of course, you could build the Buwizz variant and throw it in there for comparisom.

    You could try different kinds of wheels and tyres on Audi.
    Also maybe there is a way to change ground clearance on Audi also.
    Maybe see different types of differetials, hubs and how would it behave if both axles would have locked differetials.

  • @Steveogorek
    @Steveogorek 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    What about locking diffs in audi first? (With buwizz power?) how it performs on speed cornerns without diffs? Maybe even slightly different gear ratio between front and rear so it will drift a bit? :) Then swap for hubs with gearing should be easy too?

  • @riaandutoit11
    @riaandutoit11 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Looking at the electronics, powering the Lego Powered Up Technic hub with more than 10.5V could permanently damage the motor driver ICs (LB1836). The operating range of the LB1836 is stated as up to 9V with an absolute maximum of 10.5V. The voltage from the battery pack seems to go directly to the motor driver but is regulated for the other electronics (the absolute max of the regulator is 17V)

  • @Viper69X
    @Viper69X 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    how about try to still use the red heavy duty hubs as well as the planetary gears and if you want to get rid of the diffs then you will need to just put a regular 28 tooth gear and a slightly longer axle

    The dakkar needs suspension with more throw and perhaps more powerful (moc/cada) motors, and the crawler needs locked diffs and aftermarket motors also for higher torque.
