When I saw your choice on and with the Pyxis I was more encouraged to move forward, but it wasn’t easy. I came soooo close to getting the Komodo X, so close! well done. I feel very much there same way. I was fortunate enough to get a 6kFF on sale, so I'm going to keep using it for those low-profile moments and plan on using the Pyxis as an A Cam. Having matching sensors but in different bodies really does help keep things consistent, from color to lens options. I DID decide to go with a Mofage Poco VND PL to L Mount adapter for the Pyxis, as my only other extra purchase.
Thanks mate!! And I totally agree about consistency having those two different bodies with the same sensor/image. I thought about the Mofage too, keen to hear your thoughts!
I think that since the Pyxis already has mounting points for top handle etc, the overall weight might not be heavier than Pocket. Pocket needs additional cage to have some mounting points and it needs some sort of external battery plate. You can easily double the Pocket weight with semi-rigged out form factor.
Great comparison! Thank you for all the Pyxis content you’ve been putting out, they’ve been very helpful and insightful. Really seems like a dream camera for independent filmmakers. Waiting for my Pyxis pre-order to arrive from B&H. Really excited! I just have one question, when plugging in a monitor through SDI, do you respect the LIFO (last in, first out) protocol? Meaning, do you power everything first before plugging in the SDI BNC cable and vice versa when powering off. I know this will be less of a headache/worry once the Pyxis monitor is released with its USB-C display port feature.
Thanks so much mate, glad you enjoyed it and find it helpful! BH orders are starting to roll in I think :) And yes, I try to follow it but sometimes I forget and leave the cable on before powering on/off.

Well done! Whatever Blackmagic did inside the camera Pyxis, definitely pushed it a hair more. Really nice image and I love the body. For me it's just missing a slightly faster readout speed and internal NDs. I need at least 50-60fps in the highest resolution (Open Gate) since forcing slow motion in Resolve results in artifacts. I think for the moment I'm going to pair my Pocket 4K with the Ursa Broadcast G2 and down the line get the Luc Adapter if I really need full frame unless an updated Pyxis comes along with what I need. In short, Blackmagic is going in the right direction with its cameras!
Great video! I finally recieved my Pyxis aswell 2 days ago. Can't wait to film projects with it since its my first Blackmagic camera comming from the Sony a7iii. Greetings!
Regarding the new resolutions - is 4K cropped in the sensor? I cant find info about crop factor, but i wonder if crop sensor lenses(such as sigma 18-35) would make sense on this camera if shot in 4k.
It's simple: Pocket line for independent low budget work with skeleton crew or no crew. Pyxis/Ursa line for medium to large production crew. Larger productions need different inputs/outputs. Too many people are buying the wrong setup for their actual use case. Some are getting the camera of their dreams, ignoring their actual demands. It's no longer about base image quality. We've passed that tech rubicon years ago, and there's so many great post tools that make the micron differences between sensors even more moot. This is great. IQ used to be behind a gate of entry. No longer the case. Now, it's all about form factor, price/budget. Does it fit your production style use? "I'm going to make a Hollywood blockbuster one day, so I need an Alexa 35." Either an additional Mini XLR in or maybe 5-Pin Stereo Mini XLR and an updated USB-C out in the back to be able to use the Pyxis Monitor and the EVF at the same time might be nice as well.
They were so close with the Pyxis but the removal of built-in ND's is honestly just a dealbreaker for me. I believe the Pyxis will take the place of what we were hoping would be the eventual "4.6K G3" but some aspects of it are a backwards step from the Ursa and that makes it a tough purchase.
You do get a full frame sensor with open gate and better anamorphic options so it depends what you need I think. The next or Pro version will have NDs hopefully!

What about versus the 4K one?
I don’t have the bmcc4k anymore unfortunately. I have the og, 6K, 6k pro and these two ☺️
@@OfTwoLands All good, I’m still rocking it. Going to use it when I go on my next hike. So far I’ve just used the Sony vlog camera ZV-E10 to take pictures.
The next time I want to capture some video. Sadly for whatever reason my hands shake so it won’t be steady video footage.
It's a shame that you didn't show ISO-3200 in your video. Many are wondering if ISO-3200 is just as bad as on the BMCC-6K.
I’ve posted a video about low light and noise and there’s 3200 👍
PYXIS PRO with ND filters and they can take my money :)
Haha yes that would be awesome! And higher frame rates :)
Either an additional Mini XLR in or maybe 5-Pin Stereo Mini XLR and an updated USB-C out in the back to be able to use the Pyxis Monitor and the EVF at the same time might be nice as well.
The next or Pro version will have NDs hopefully!
they never "removed" it though? the original blackmagic full frame never had it either the pocket 6k did though (s35 version). Just get a moco dropin nd adapter.
In the Pyxis the image looks more sharper. Thanks ¡¡¡¡
Thanks for watching!
In which image you think?
@@OfTwoLandssur le plan ou tu es assis derrière ton bureau , c’est sûrement une question de feeling mais sur ton visage je préfère la pyxis …. Après ça reste trop léger pour dire qui est mieux que l’autre
I have looked at the video more carefully again and the images are the same. If you don't know which camera it is, it is impossible to differentiate them.
Have you seen any difference? Thanks
TRUNKS!!!

Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching 🙏
that's a pity without bulid-in ND
Probably in the next version!
Disappointed with its dynamic range for that price I expect 17 stops plus like what lumix s1hmk2 will have at 3500ish$
Bahahaha you must be high no manufacturer has 17 stops 😂
Unlike BM most camera manufacturers overstate and are around 13 stops. If you can't get awesome footage out of it the porpblem is the user.
@@hivetech4903 haha dude cinema cameras like arri and red and others have 17 stops lumix s5ii has 14
Arri and Red are priced very differently haha have to compare what it comparable. The Ursa Cine has 16 for example..
If you're smart and hopefully you are --- you'll buy the EF mount version (or PL if you can afford that glass).
@@zackketz 😅 Nope. L mount is much more versatile to asap the glass I have.
@@OfTwoLands You can't put L glass on Sony or Canon or Nikon. But you can with EF. So. how is L more versatile than EF?
@@zackketz because you can put ef, pl, and various other lenses on an L mount Camera. Same as all the other mirrorless mount. If get the EF version you only use EF lenses.
The lack of internal NDs could be a long chat to discuss, but instead the pixys is a really good camera for many reasons.
Which box camera has internal NDs at $3000? Why keep bringing this up?
@@PyxisCinemaif a smaller camera than a box camera which is 6k pro can have it under 2000 then why can’t a box camera at 3000 that too from same company can have it ,after all you not that smart my man 😂
@jerrydorsey5951 my boxy C70 has ND's at that price range.
My Fujifilm x100V has an internal ND
@@mjgfromDDDc70 new is over 3k easily. Now used, yes you can find one at 3-3.5K
First ❤
Haha thanks!!
Since this camera has no nd filters it is just a regular square shaped camera.
ok.
The Pyxis low light seemed to have slightly more noise. But otherwise it looks great. There’s no such thing as a perfect camera
"There’s no such thing as a perfect camera" 100%! This is something people tend to forget a lot, especially on youtube haha!
100k is too much for lol I could create what I need with 20k
blackmagic owners so fixated of calling this a cinema camera :D hahaha
That’s the name so.. yep :)
amazing sensor???? LOL
Yep, I love it! Doesn’t mean you have to ☺️
No continous AF
Nope
