The problem in my car is that the compressor stops working altogether when the temperature outside is over 80° F, and it comes on sporadically if the temperature is under that but even then it mostly doesn't work in sunlight! This baffles me! I'm not sure how the outside temperature affects when the AC compressor is working? But when I looked at the pulley, every time the compressor turns off, the pulley completely stops! It doesn't idle with the clutch disengaged it just completely stops when the compressor is not working! Is the clutch still the problem? Is it stuck in one position so that if the compressor is turned off, it doesn't spin but if there's enough friction on the belt, it will start spinning the clutch and the compressor? My AC might be a little more complicated because when it's working, it still works when the car is Auto stop feature comes on and the engine isn't running?
Great video! After I drove through a foot of water, the AC clutch in my VW Jetta has been rattling for a few months. The condenser works fine as I have cold air. Should I replace the clutch only? Is it possible to spray WD-40 or some lubricant to stop the rattling? Thanks..
My ac works based on acceleration. It will switch ON and switch off for the next acceleration, some times run in idle also. Whether AC is on or off, the compressor always runs.
What if the compressor is working good most of the time but disconnects cool air randomly? Making a sound inside the cabin. Is it a clutch issue? My mechanic is telling it’s a bad compressor but it’s too expensive to replace the whole unit.
If the pressure switch is faulty would the out cover plate still spin with the pully whether the air-con is on or off as I can't hear the compress clutch clicking?
What if the ac clutch is spinning but hasnt engaged? I saw at first it was only the pulley spinning as i was filling the clutch started spinning but i didnt hear nothing engage. It spins with ac on or off. Also spins with the fuse out. Is this normal until its filled with the right amount of refrigerant? I thought the clutch only spins when engaged? Any info is much appreciated.
Terrible rattling once AC is turned on, stops once AC is turned off. Can a mechanic try to replace JUST the AC compressor clutch? Or will they just replace the whole AC compressor? Because the AC cools really well, but it has a terrible rattle.
I'm looking at my daughter Subaru and I got compressor to turn on and it don't look to be all the way working... I think there might have been a leak and then clutch went out.
2007 Chevy Avalanche: Had a 134a leak which left me with no refrigerant. Replaced o-rings, valves, etc. Ran a vacuum and it held -30hg for a hour. Began recharging system and couldn't get the system to suck in the 134a from the can. AC LED light in car blinking and won't stay solid green. Relay is good (swapped it with another to test), bypassed relay and clutch engages when jumped. Tried recharging while jumping relay, no success. I tried placing AC can in hot water while charge hose was connected to low-side and still no success. What am I doing wrong or need to do differently? - Thanks!
I would recommend replacing the clutch before buying a cheap compressor made in China. Also, you don't have to recharge the ac system with refrigerant if you just replace the clutch.
Looking for increase in idle will only help check if A/C button is working. Most cars will raise engine RPM once the ECU recognises the A/C button has been pressed.
And what if you turn the AC off and then the items really low a little bit shaky and the engine almost shutting off? But when you turn the AC button on, like you said, the increase in idle will bring it to a perfect idle. I have to drive with the Aceon all the time cause my car might shut off. What could this be?
My truck f150 makes a weird noise like rattling when I only turn on the A/c compressor, it cools and everything but what is it ? Clutch or compressor ?
I'm in the same situation, it's either the clutch or AC compressor, my advice, just buy a new clutch and pulley assembly and only replace the clutch and see if that helps, if not it's the AC compressor
@@Abizzy84 I just had it serviced with a/c shop and they checked it they say the compressor and clutch is good. They changed my evaporator and haven’t heard the noise…
The clutch on mjni cooper engages but no cold air , after I tried to refill the refrigerant. One of Ac lines had a home rubbing against another part and got hole in it. I did replace the ac line but refilling refrigerant isn’t fixing my no cold air issue. Any help?
Make sure the center of the clutch is also turning, mine just twisted the clutch loose from the center, so the clutch works fine, it just isn’t putting torque through to turn the pump.
I just changed my serpentine belt and when ever I turn on my AC, I visually notice the belt moving slower, jumping in speed, and my battery level getting lower. Could it be the compressor clutch? Or a pulley bearing?

Thank you for that clear and understandable explanation. Well-done!
Thank you💪
Good explanation of AC system

Unfortunately, spraying it with lubricant won't help. You'll have to replace the clutch.

You can jump the clutch by just jumping the relay in the fuse box it’s easier that way.
Can I change the high pressure switch because mine is cutting out on very low pressure.. like playing up ..
Good video will this cause a rough idle wen turned on
Yes, it could.
yes, my car tries to stall out

Just only the clutch can be replaced, even only the bearing, no need to replace the compressor itself.
@@SkateSpace2012 Great! Thanks!
@@82windows82check the bolts and make sure they are fully seated mine snapped and so did my ac bracket lol

Fuse?
My ac clutch is missing did it fall off? Is that common
Would low freon cause the compressor fuse to break or pop?
Great video
My car is running with petrol and cng ,when drive with cng and ac turn on engine suddenly shutdown, with petrol no issues!

It’s crazy because my 1995 GMC Sierra AC makes a loud rattling noise blowing you turn the AC on. It’s quiet.
That sounds like the compressor🤔
I don't think this video was helpful. It lists some tests but doesn't say exactly what the result means.
He is only here for views. I see he isnt answering peoples questions. Why make a video to help people but wont help people when they need it?

It could be the Alternator Pulley i had to change my Alternator because my Battery was low all the time
