I'll be working a double today. 1500-0700 hours. Once I get off Saturday morning, I'm hoping to get some sleep and then finish the Beetle engine and transmission this weekend. There's a VW xmas cruise/parade thing next weekend I want to drive in. If I fail, I guess I drive my sister's Tiguan. If I succeed, I can drive my Beetle and find more fun things to do on my days off this winter.
@@HollywoodHornet Wheres the parade at ?? I am leaving Sunday morning at 5 am to start a project in Ofallon Mo at a factory . I cant move transformers while they are open . Then later I have to run new electric for new machines . Stay in touch . Large retail store keeping me hopping also . Made some good porksteaks yesterday . Gonna turn the coffee on . 3:21 am cst Saturday 3 Dec 2022
@@catfishjenkem2226 It's somewhere in St. Louis. I don't remember the deets at the moment. My sister found this parade on some VW facebook page. I'll have to ask her. Alls I know is I hope I can have this beast done by Sunday but if not, then hopefully next Saturday morning, just in time. We'll see how it goes. The wind was so strong today it blew over the neighbor's flag pole and missed my BMW e38 by a foot.
@@catfishjenkem2226 Making some progress and the Beetle transmission but it's slow going. I'm getting too old for this. If everything else goes smoothly, transmission will be completely done tonight and tomorrow I can do clutch, all the engine stuff and put the engine back in the car.
Hey Mr. Hornet, Great video i can totally do this myself just by watching this. Would this new EGR Solenoid possibly fix my starting and stalling issues? Would love a reply, thank you so much - Conor - 1994 C4 corvette
Possibly so. A faulty EGR can cause stalling upon starting. Of course, so can a bad idle air control valve amongst other things. EGR's and their solenoids can be easily diagnosed tho and are fairly cheap to replace.
@@conorgreen7451 Using a vacuum pump you can test EGR function to see if vacuum will operate the valve and it will stay open. You can then start the car and apply vacuum to stall the engine via the EGR. If it does those things, you can then focus on the solenoid. Unplugging the IAC valve while engine is running should also stall the engine but if you don't have a super high idle, probably not the IAC valve. I did a video on diagnosing an EGR (I think) but I think it's in the Crown Vic folder. And I may have just swapped it out, I might not have actually tested it and shown how to. It's been years since I filmed it and have done a lot since then so my memory is not so good. That said surely someone else have filmed a video on testing EGR solenoid and the valve itself. Same concept applies to all regardless or car make and model.
@@HollywoodHornet awesome thanks so much, i just watched your video on how to get into diagnostic mode on the obd1 using a paper clip, will try that when this rain slows down later today
Thank you

@@HollywoodHornet Yes the wind was brutal . I knew that was coming so I got the van loaded by 11 am ,then it just went nuts.
