    Now that’s a heavy arrow! Literally like throwing logs when you’re shooting those bad boys!

    Nice concise work. Presumably this is the arrow we saw you take your cape buffalo with. In that video you were using feathers. Any reason you went with feathers? Lighter, more FOC?

    • @sethpsoton
      @sethpsoton ปีที่แล้ว

      I like using feathers, but TAC veins travel a little easier. They don’t get smashed as much in travel, or more importantly, in the vehicle, as you are driving around all these bumpy roads with people running into your arrows. I really do like feathers.

    • @cronkthecrunk
      @cronkthecrunk ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SiriusTV1 yeah, I drenched the q tip and had what I thought was a nice beautiful bead on the fletch. I pressed it on and it took off running. Caught it with a paper towel and was confident it didn't make it into the nock, even twisted it to make sure. Went to go shoot it weeks later and noticed I left the nock out of the position I designated... that sucker is really solid! Can't help but be a little impressed even though I spent weeks getting that arrow perfectly tuned to bullet hole at 20yards bare shaft only to screw it up at the final stage. Been staring at it contemplating how I'm gonna save it.

    You don't need a thousand grains to hunt a water buffalo. 70 lb 600 grains perfect! Even Dr Ashby didn't shoot no damn thousand green arrow.

  • @deanbrantley
    @deanbrantley ปีที่แล้ว

    For the sake of argument I’d love to see someone in your position shoot a light weight rocket ship arrow into a dead cape bufffalo. About 400 grains, 85lb draw. I’m guessing that would be north of 340 fps. Hand sharpened 100 grain BH. Now that would end the endless debate of light vs heavy.

    • @YoureSoVane
      @YoureSoVane ปีที่แล้ว

      Eh. Probably not. Heavy helps when significant resistance is met. If you go between the ribs, then weight really doesn't matter. Smack the knuckle and you'll want the spear.
      Guarantee one half of the crowd will respond with "of course it'll turn out that way, you hit it in the ribs! You're not supposed to hit the bone!" And the other half will respond "you're supposed to hit the shoulder! The light arrow wouldn't even tickle the meat compared to heavy if you just aim at the worst possible spot!"
      And it'll never end.

    • @deanbrantley
      @deanbrantley ปีที่แล้ว

      @@YoureSoVane only one way we will ever know right? Your “assumptions” maybe right or completely wrong. I’ve recently started shooting pigs with 365 grain setup and blowing thru them fast enough to split sapling trees behind them.

    • @YoureSoVane
      @YoureSoVane ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@deanbrantley I say we throw some sticks at pigs and see what works. Total weight isn't nearly as important as pretty much any other factor for penetration, due to the way most materials react to KE and momentum, and the formula for friction for that material.
      I shoot 30" and 80# and I'm not comfortable shooting an arrow that light. For the same effort of getting a 340fps arrow you could just shoot 300fps, and for the roughly 10% loss in speed you'd get about 500gr. That's more weight to put towards a stronger broadhead or front end components. Or more choices in arrow shaft.
      Personally I like running high FOC but somewhere short of 600gr of weight. With last year's arrow build, I hit a deer so hard that it took chunks of bone with it, and I still haven't found the arrow.

    • @deanbrantley
      @deanbrantley ปีที่แล้ว

      @@YoureSoVane I completely understand every aspect of it. I’ve shot deer and pigs (3 in the last 2 weeks) with arrows from 700, 550,440 and now 365 and with 10 different broadheads. To date and I know it’s hard to wrap your head around it because it’s not really logical but none of those setups performed like my light and fast with a high quality broadhead.
      Like I said, I was just saying it was something I’d like to see. I’m not trying to change anyone’s mind. I’d just like to see a test that I’ve never seen or know of being done and hear the results.
      With your 30”dl shooting 80lbs I think you would be crazy surprised at the results. Your setup is way more horse power than mine.

    • @YoureSoVane
      @YoureSoVane ปีที่แล้ว

      @@deanbrantley Which broadhead do you use? Personally I like a few broadheads that are 150gr or 200gr, and I haven't found any that appeal to me at the 100gr mark.

    For anyone in the market for top quality arrows look into sirius archery.i just switched from easton axis 5mm match grades and the Apollos absolutely put them to shame.
    Got 6 and all 6 spin true no wobble on either end, my axis only 3 out of 18 was good.
    I'll definitely be sticking with sirius from here on out, sorry not sorry easton tired of your bs top dollar garbage, yous might have been good a few years ago idk but what I've received lately has been very disappointing, when my non match grade easton sonics where straighter than the match grade axis.
