    The "three dabs of glue" is KEY. Great advice. Thank you. I was totally over gluing.

    I followed this to the T. I am very happy to say I have 2 dozen arrows Tuned, Fletched, Nocked and ready thanks to you. What a GREAT Process. I ended up using a mini chop saw, because I didn't have a lot of the gear you do. Also bought a cheap arrow spinner on Amazon, then placed a book in front of it and placed sandpaper in between. Who knew that a Hornady reloading manual was useful in archery.

    Great video! I liked the tip on using a gun brush to scuff up the inside of the shaft before installing the insert. I will be trying that on my next set of arrows. Thanks!

    Great step by step video. Do you index the fletchings and nick? If so, what is your process for doing so? Also, do you glue in the nock and if so, do you use fletching glue or the insert epoxy?

    • @bigjohnson4427
      @bigjohnson4427 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chuck White never glue in a nock, odd vane up always so twist nock to achieve, when fletching always put a vane over the crease of arrow wrap so that it doesn’t come peeling up

    When placing the vanes in the jig, I believe the factory sets the helical at 1 degree, however I was told for a truer spin you should have it at 3 degrees. What are your thoughts? PS - I loved the video!!

    Watch John dudleys arrow building. You need more then 3 dots of glue. Also with those max stealth vanes they high recommend using the aae prep pen and glue. There is a coating on the vane that if not done correctly will not stick. Also you should clean your arrow wrap after your fingers have touched it or a mouse pad has touched it. Keep it at clean as possible

    • @HuntUrban
      @HuntUrban  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, there is a coating on the AAE vane that requires a prep pen - however- any prep pen will work. I’ve used the AAE as well as others, and have had all work well.
      As for the glue, I highly suggest trying three dabs of glue and spreading them out on the arrow. What do you have to lose??!! I’ve built plenty of arrows and haven’t had an issue, but if you’re doing it differently and it’s working well for you, then keep it up! 👊🏻

    • @tonyallen8626
      @tonyallen8626 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Boxing 101 I've tried quite a few different glue's and I can't get my fletchings to stick to raps anywhere near as well as I can to a bear shaft and that's the reason I don't use them

      @boxing 101 - spot on!

    • @HuntUrban

      Make sure to clean the wrap after you’ve applied it with alcohol, and prep your vane with a primer pen

    • @tonyallen8626
      @tonyallen8626 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@HuntUrban I don't have any trouble getting my Fletcher's to stick to the rap, if a Fletch comes off it pulls some rap with it and as far as seeing blood a little white spray paint on the shaft.

    I think your arrow build is great. Yes you will take some heat from some of these people. But I have watched a lot of your videos an you know your stuff. Yes I can't believe 3 dots of glue. But like you said. Uses the tip of your glue bottle to spread the 3 dots out. I shoot AAE Stelth vanes Love them. Keep up the videos.

    • @bigjohnson4427
      @bigjohnson4427 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      weaver Wilhelmi using the tip of glue bottle will cause it to clog up, will prevent from putting an appropriate amount on vane, instead use a pin and poke hole in tip of glue bottle and apply

    • @weaverbeaver8203
      @weaverbeaver8203 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bigjohnson4427 as for at the tip clogging. it also depends if you wipe the tip clean after you do that. I've seen a guy at a archery shop do the 3 dots and uses a business card to spread the glue out. I'm not saying your right or wrong. I've seen a lot of ppl fletch arrows different ways.

    • @HuntUrban
      @HuntUrban  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! It also depends on what glue you’re using. My glue bottle has a needle in it to prevent the bottle from clogging. And yes, I agree, there are many different ways to fletch the arrows, and all are correct

  • @79brumley

    You really should spin them first and cut them from both ends if needed to get the straightest section of arrow possible. Everything else is spot on except you went to far trying to sell the day 6 arrows.

    • @donovanstockton44
      @donovanstockton44 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I ain't no expert but Day 6 owner Brian is very in tuned with what works for killing deer. They sell very high quality stuff and it's well thought out for slaying whitetail deer which are hard to kill given their extreme reaction speeds to archery equipment.

    • @79brumley
      @79brumley 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@donovanstockton44 Your reply literally has nothing to do with my post, All pro level archers spin and cut their arrows to achieve the straightest shaft possible, The same should be applied to hunting shafts. The straighter the shaft the more accuracy potential the arrow has in flight and easier to tune. For hunting arrows I want the most precision shafts I can make. Trust me day 6 arrows are not any better than Gold tips, Easton or Victory of the same grade of shafts.

    • @donovanstockton44
      @donovanstockton44 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      WarHammer - I’m not following your logic but not a big deal. You just proved my point actually. If they’re no less in quality why the criticize Hunt Urban for promoting a brand that seems well designed for white tails? Day 6 is primarily focused hunting with wiry deer in mind. There was a lot of product placement in the video but who cares. If you have a problem with capitalism go all out and vote for Bernie or Warren.
