    A little bit of string wax on the nock helps with inserting to the bushing ... little trick I've picked up. Some of the F-nock and G-nock sizes can be a beast to install into these types of bushings.

    Love your videos! Rapid cooling of anything, however, makes it more brittle so I’d recommend letting it cool naturally. Thanks for all the info though!

  • @johnchris9766
    @johnchris9766 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    You could use the spine tester to find the stiffest side of the shaft and fletch it with a different color vane than other 2 so that it adds some forgiving. In addition, you could use the straightness spinning tool to find the wobble side of the shaft regardless of the brand sign and cut it with saw to increase the straightness for forgiving. Just share of experience. Love your video. Stay safe.

    You probably already know this. I use a silver sharpie on the ends of my arrows before I square them. I square them until all of the sharpie is gone. Just something that has helped me. Cheers!

  • @aaronposas3044

    Dipping the arrow tip (or any type of metal for that matter) in water/liquid to rapidly cool it is called quenching, and it makes the material harder (also making it more brittle). :)

    Sweet arrows, I shoot the SuperDrive 23 with 125 gr points. What did your arrow weight end up being ? I know u usually pull 70+ lbs, seems really light. Would a darker vain not be better for 3D to avoid others seeing them ?

    That's CoolMelt, not HotMelt. Lower melting point, less likely to damage the carbon shaft.

      Saw the blue color and said cold melt straight off. I often use a gun cleaning brass brush to lightly scratch the inside of shafts before installing points and inserts.and then I use a q-tip with alcohol to clean the inside of shafts before placing points/inserts.

  • @Corewood_TJP
    @Corewood_TJP 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice video. Interesting fletching Jig. However I would prefer that you don't have to hold the pressure with your hands but that the jig can do that. So I might keep the jig I have. I expected that the screw on the back of the vane holder, would be for that. I prefer to let each vane sit in the jig for 20-30 minutes. Not sure if it is really necessary, but I use NPV Saunders glue and it is not a fast curing glue. But anyways. One thing you forgot (at least to show) was to clean the inside of the shafts after cutting them. That especially goes for all-carbon shafts and A/C shafts with carbon inside. One interesting thing I noticed is how you glue in the points. It is more or less like I do it, except that I also heat the point, when I apply glue. Also I use pliers to hold the point, but with the way you do it, holding it with fingers might actually be ok. That might howeever also depend on the glue you use. Also I don't use fingers to wipe off the glue, I press the shaft / point, dowm against a newspaper and turn and move the arrow so the glue gets wiped off. But very interesting to see how you do it. :-) And nice to see you doing the classic error, pressing the nock in, without the nock tool... ;-)

      BBDragon66 if you’re considering this a 3D option, other people’s arrows are going to be the problem. From a design standpoint I think it better supports that end of the carbon.
