It’s a quite old video. I got 2001 flsts which got red engine light. When I m doing the way in the video, it shows exactly what your one is doing. But you mentioned that your one got no fault at the moment . Any idea?

if so, does this process work?
You just entered diagnostics mode and the final number after PPU is the pulses per unit or the pulses the speedometer gets from the speed sensor per mile/KM.
What does that mean?
On my 00 softail my engine lamp keeps comming on but i have no error codes. Any ideas ?

My turn signals also are flashing when I turn te ignition. They didnt do that before. What does it means?
Check your emergency flasher switch
@@RealLifeProductions i Dont have it. Emergency lights turn on when i push both turn signals
I think that's normal. I don't knits why they didn't do that before.

How bout the early twin cams with carbs? Is it the same way?
I'm not sure, but I would take a guess and say no because of the way HD is always changing things.

But remember now there's 10 different banks for codes just go through all of them when you get to when you get to number 10 it'll say 10 you'll see them one two three I think it's the first number and then after that it'll have a PO well if it says po that's the code with different numbers three numbers behind it go through all 10 right down any codes and then go back through them do the same procedure pushing the mileage reset turn on the ignition and hit mileage reset again that will be number one it'll probably so keep going to ucpo write it down and then erase it push and hold it'll either say clear or it'll go away then ride it for 30 35 miles to make sure that that engine light don't come back on and make sure your key fog battery has at least 3 volts and get in there with a piece of sandpaper and lightly sand the connections on the inside of the key fob

Thanks Scott...You gave me a great start...Now I need to see why tf my 04 RK is shutting down while cruising, then resetting when the ignition switch is turned off, then back on. *Edit* For what year bike? My 04 display reads much different when I put it through your procedure.
Not sure why your bike is doing that. Last time I had a problem like that it was electrical. A wire was shorting out. It got pinched somehow....under the gas tank....coming out from under the seat. Check your wires out real good.

D08set my 2003 883 sportster speedo is not working. I replaced the speed sensor and still not working.
Next ...check your fuses, then look at your wiring real close. You could have a pinched wire that's shorting out somewhere. I had that happen on an old Sportser; it ended up being a wire under my gas tank. It got pinched then wore a hole thru the wire insulation.
Fuck yes brother. Think I got bad speed sensor. All kinds of things started happening. Will check this soon as I'm home

It's going to depend on the year, and model.

I have a 2011 Harley Rocker C, I am trying to locate the “black botton” so I can press and hold in, to find out why my check engine light is on. Where should I look to find it? It’s not on the side of my speedometer.

If you have a code the number that comes up next after the code is the part number for the parts you need to fix that code there's a lot of people on here saying what's that number that is the part number you need say system relay code I think 206 they won 206 and then it'll have another code with it and then you hit your trip meter again and it'll come up with part number of the part that's bad
Thanks for your comment. I can't say for sure how HD is doing codes these days. A lot depends on the year of the bike and the model. Things are completely different from one year to the next. Just like my Ram. So I'm guessing there's a lot of bad info circulating around on line. You just need to double check what you hear.
@@RealLifeProductions that is for fuel injection motorcycles of course carbureted ones don't have the fault codes I don't think but mine's a 07 Dyna wide glide it's pretty much the same on all of them but once you push that button and turn the switch on let off it again and then it'll go through any codes every time you let off you want to get rid of them push and hold until it goes away or says clear but make sure you write them down in case they pop back up when you ride it at least 30 miles

petermec61 fuel sending unit could be bad or petcock screen could be clogged.

Are you sure the battery is charged? Did they check that? Do the lights come on? Does the bike turn over and try to start?

@@bakeetalzahrini1931 could be that. Could be something like that or something like the crank shaft sensor. There's so many things it could be, I don't think changing the battery would cause all that.
So it's hard guessing without the bike.

My engine light comes on after starting my 2003 Softail, it stays on for a few seconds then goes away. My code banks are all clear. What's going on? Thanks
I think that's normal. Mine does the same thing. It might be that it takes a minute for your oil pressure to build up, or your computer has to check everything out first and that takes a few seconds. If it stayed on then you would have a reason to worry.

Hey Scott. Thanks for the info. My engine light came on and I checked the 10 banks for errors. No errors. I also checked the charging system for proper voltage, it looks okay. So how do I reset the engine light or is there somewhere else I need to look? Harley wants 100 clams just to look at it, as usual, and I would rather fix it myself, if possible. Any ideas?
I was just reviewing my old messages and run into yours...from 7 years ago. How did you end up clearing your engine light? I'm just curious of what you did.
It's very easy to clear the codes not reset clear if you have codes in there then you need to clear them and then go ride it at least 30 something miles to see if the engine light comes back on because you have codes in there you don't know if they're old or new but what you do is you push the odometer trip reset button and hold it turn the ignition switch on and push the reset button again now the fault codes will be po 104206 and so forth so what you do when you get to one that says po push the reset button for the trip meter and hold it and it will clear that code and you do that to each one they'll still be a number on there and mine also tells me the day year in months and what kind of motorcycle I have now when you have codes underneath them will be another number that's the part number for the part you need for that code don't worry about clearing that just the ones with the PO if you have any problems let me know
You can also bypass that key fob there's a four digit number that you can put in there or that's already in there and if you don't have your fob you turn it on hit the trip meter and put in that code but it's a little trickier but it's not hard

How to manually override a Harley-Davidson Security Alarm
I am hoping this helps me. I choke started my 2000 Heritage Softail Saturday to go for a ride. Let it warm up. Pushed the choke in and when down the road. Got a 1/4 of a mile from the house and at the yield sign the bike stalled out when I slowed down and wouldn't start back up. It felt like the bike just seized up on me. It kept clicking like the starter or solenoid sound that hear when one is bad on a car and it wouldn't turn over. I got it home and now sadly it won't even click anymore. I can hear the fuel pump come on when I turn the ignition on, but when I got to start her up there is not any sound anymore. The battery was just replaced in October. I am going to try to look and see if there are any codes when I get home, but if anyone has any troubleshooting tips for me, I would greatly appreciate them.

April, i know that this is 3 years old, but it sounded like a ground. Hopefully your rolling thunder again. In my shop, all the bikes get what's called a EXTERNAL STAR WASHER, a NYLOCK NUT, both stainless, and a drop of blue loctite on all battery cables and hardware. Also we only use YUASA batteries for non lithium ion battery equipped bikes.

I have an 02 ultra classic police edition. 7,500 miles. Mine is showing do25et. I cleared it and it came right back. Im having no luck finding out what that code is. Even on sites that show all the Harley codes im finding nothing
My neighbor recently picked up a 2002 Softail with about 4,000 miles on it I had been servicing it oil and filter for the original owner almost since it was new and I never really knew how to pull up codes. For this style I could pull it up on a 2009 which I had for about 10 years. And I've got an old Evo that well there's no codes and because it's a carburetor. But I appreciate the info. 👍🖖

My 2002 HD sportster has this same code set up some are majorly different.
I have an 84 Softail with points, carburetor, and kick starter. I have zero problems with codes or computers or injectors or sensors or electronic ignition modules. Thanks for the video. If I had any desire to own an "electric glide", this video has slain it.

Just returned from a 3 week ride with two buddies. ..they have the greatest and latest roadglides...Damn ! Electrical gremlins haunted us for the whole trip..every HD dealer had wait time of no less than 5 days to 2 weeks..wtf...never knew each morning which of the two were going to start..blah blah...I ride an old Evo...no problems..what a nightmare of a road trip..by calling home dealership and friends with similar issues ,we got away from motels at the Crack of noon most days...Bummer

It was likely 82883. It stands for electronic Speedometers Pulse Per Unit.

Basically it's you're bike telling you it's time to shift. That's the simple answer. Personally my bike doesn't have that option. I shift by ear. And maybe feel. And I just know my bike.

one more question, my bike would not start but just turn over, got it to Harley shop, they fixed it. it was fuel regulator in tank. Anyway I noticed when riding last night the fuel light came on, but had gauge is above a quarter of a tank, is that light suppose to come on then or should light come on when it's way below a quarter tank.
Yes your needle will be add a quarter tank or a little above when the light comes on fuel light
Will this give a code for abs ? Or is there a scanner tool I can purchase for my 2010 FLHTK Harley Davidson ? I have already changed front and rear abs wheel sensors. I have P55P66 come up on my Harley

I changed fuel pump both filters and fuel pressure regulator in my 2004 deuce screamin Eagle but am unable to get fuel gauge to work Gauge reads empty fuel light on constantly do I need to change gauge motherboard
if you did all that. its my thought the only things it might be is put fuel in it. maybe the answer is an empty tank. maybe somebody played a joke and siphoned the fuel out of the tank trying to make you feel clueless. . lol

2014 fat boy has engine light come on and the bike stalls in low revs. Also the speedometer needle returns to zero when the bike is moving. Anyone any idea what could be going on?

Hi, I have a 2007 harley davidson ultra classic and I did a reset, I just bought it last week, but when I did that does it mess up anything, and all I did is did what you did, but then turned it off, what does it reset on the bike, I just hope it did not reset the security code, do you know if it did that. No it didn't reset the code. It takes several steps to do that. And even if it could, it would set it back to the factory default, which I believe is...1-2-3-4.

maybe it just reset the trip odometer. thats usually what that button is for.

N1AGE that's an 02 road king. I have the same bike, lol. I'm having the same problem where my engine light keeps turning on and off. The bike runs great just that code coming on at night bugs me.
Howdy, last Harley I owned was in the mid 80's been thinking about picking up a couple of years old bike to go riding along with my son. The question I have may sound dumb, but never the less a question. One Harley I owned in the 70's, I bobbed it. I removed the speedo and when I sold it I left the thing off. I don't know how it is today but back then if you wanted to you could easily disconnect and then re connect the speedo with a false odometer reading. Some of the bikes I have looked at were 8-10 yrs old with 3-6000 miles showing. Is it as easy with the bikes nowadays to unhook and rehook the odometer to give a false mileage reading? It just seems a bit fishy to me. Thanks.
+Michael Smith .....no, I think everything runs thru the on board computer these days. The Speedo does not connect directly to the front wheel anymore. Now the reading is taken from something like the crank shaft sensor.

What does LO RNG means
Hey Dean to keep it simple as I can without getting too complicated basically LO RNG means low range which is telling you you don't have much further to go on your bike because you need to put some gas in it. It's basically telling you you're getting low on gas therefore the range that you can travel is low.

Sounds like a wiring issue. But it could be lots of things....like a fuel filter or a bad injector. Can you tell me more?
+Frank Dewald Did you say 88? Then cross out the fuel injector. You have a shovel, and they use carberators.
I have a 2012 Soft Tail had the same problem. Turned out to be the stater. If your not sure what that is, Cuz i wasnt, its that little mettle box on the lower front of your bike frame. Run, then just shut off. Drove me crazy for months.

After all the diagnostic codes are displayed, the speedometer's pulses per unit (PPU) setting is displayed. This number will vary depending on speedometer part number.
