You saved my bacon at a rest stop 2 days ago when I came out of the bathroom and realized that somewhere in the last 150 miles of highway travel, my fob had come out of my pocket and I was (momentarily) stranded. I had forgotten how to do this, as the dealer never explained it and I had only read about it in the manual. A 4G phone connection to this video got me rolling homeward. Thanks a ton!
Quick addition: 2008 Heritage Softail required one extra step at the end: after pin and run switch is on…put bike in gear then back into neutral before starting. Works when nothing else worked! Took 10 videos to finally find this one and I had to rely on a bloke from down under! Thanks mate!😂
Hi 👋, Gone Touring, from the other side of the world 🌍, I have just purchased a 03 DEUCE, and I couldn’t find a way to disarm the alarm system, the guy who delivered it to me, had a problem as it was in the back of the van, the alarm kept going off, so when we remove bike from van the battery is flat, In next day or so I’ll reset the pin number and turn the alarm off, thank you for your info, very very much appreciated, From France ,
Tried this numerous times.....could not get it to work. I discovered that the "RUN" switch must be in the RUN position......this wasn't mentioned in the video or the manual. Handy piece of info. Great video. Thanks
+Dennis Ross Hi Dennis, you may have a different model to our bikes as our two bikes won't work in the "Run" position as you suggested. Thanks for the info. We'll endeavour to find out which models need to be in the "Run" position.
Invaluable information, thank you so much. Just got my Harley and didn't know this was even possible. The previous owner didn't tell me about this. Now, I'm going to change the pin to something I only know, thanks again.
Thanks very much for this info. I had my fob fall out of my pocket and it got crushed. I’m going to use this and take it to the dealer on Friday. Thanks for all the help.
Excellent !! This (and the other similar videos) give some great instructions on changing and over-riding your PIN. As noted, in the event of a dead FOB battery, or in my case, a lost FOB, you are simply dead in the water w/o knowing this info....happened to me on my '08 FXDWG, but luckily was only 4 miles from my house and could retrieve the other FOB....had I known the override sequence then, woulda' saved me some hiking !
all i have to say about this is THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. i have been fighting with my key fob for over a month now sometimes it will work and sometimes i wouldn't. now i can ride it until i get paid and get a new key fob. now the next question do you know how to program a new key fob so i dont have to give them $55 of my hard earned money
That is some good information! Reminds me of a kid in my 3rd grand class who didn't know you don't eat the little round balls in the grass. He thought that they were candy. We should help people out and give them free advice so that their breath doesn't smell like rabbit poop! Good video.
you still need the assigned fob to make these changes... and these changes are also detailed in the owners manual for the bike. my fob battery died on me and that code allowed me to get the bike started anyway. I keep a spare battery on the bike for now on
Just pull the fuse that you have installed outside the battery cover discreatly and walk away. The alarm should still have all of the functions as with its battery backup?
Good Helpful tips.. But I have a 2007 Sportster,, Alarm Blinks and like I dnt ride that much it kills the Battery. There a way to stop the red light from Blinking.
I hope this works for resetting the alarm... but maybe I should get a replacement battery for my fob first. The bike has been sitting with a dead battery after my spouse was killed. Im finally getting around to it.
Hi Pablo, you will need to purchase a H-D Factory security system to suit your bike. The part number can be found on page 794 of the 2014 Genuine Motor Parts & Accessories book or just ask your local harley dealer to order it in for you.
Hi, thanks for the quick and short explainations... But my 2005 Road King didn't showed is PIN following these On/Off(x2)+On & (3x)LeftTurnSignal & (1x)RightTurnSignal :-(... Any ideas why? Otherwise that might be good for other HOG #HR2U
Great question.. I have a 2002 Road King Screamin' Eagle and I just buried my fob in the house, far away from the bike, but with the ignition dial unlocked, it allowed me to start the bike. When I performed the sequence shown in the video... It did not show me the PIN number in the SPEEDO. Wondering if this security system is not on my 2002 FLHRSEI. Important to me, because I live just outside of Death Valley and a bike refusing to start in many of the locations I ride could result in one or more fatalities. Like I tell my Hummer Mechanic, because of where I go in the middle of the Mohave and Sonora Deserts... a failure can mean multiple fatalities, so make sure it runs right.
@@DIZEMANPHOTO just bought a 2008 Rocker and did not know the alarm PIN to retrieve and change PIN to new code so I had to do everything he just showed. @@bigblue3568 I only have one key fob, so I am going to have to try and get another one. Where I ride, not being able to start the bike is all but assured a fatality or two. Thanks Shawn!
Not sure that all US bikes have the factory fitted H-D security alarm's fitted, its probably best to swing by your local dealer and get them to check it out.
Hi. Have you ever heard if there is a limit of times you can use the override code? I lost my fob and will be able to pick a new one at the dealer only on monday and I'd like to keep riding on the weekend. The bike is a 2016 FLHXS. The closest dealer said I can use it about only 30 or 40 times and then the bike will not start anymore but I didn't find that information over the internet.
Tried those steps a few times for my 2012 softail and could not retrieve PIN number. Is there something wrong with my alarm system? Had HD change pin when new bcm was installed 6 years ago and I forgot it.
Amigo, este vídeo me tirou de um grande problema aqui no Rio de Janeiro (Brasil), Obrigado por postar este vídeo sem o qual eu ia ficar enguiçado. MUITO BOM.
Trying to test starting with the pin, but my sporty also has a Siren security. As soon as I turn on the ignition she wails on! Any suggestions would be appreciated.
He says that you need to have the fob with you. How does this video work if you have a dead fob or lost your fob? Does it work on bikes without a fob or pin number?
OK, without FOB, alarm is going off. How do you turn the alarm off without the FOB. I know my pin but entered the wrong last number. Won't let me try pin again.
Hello mate ... Thanks for the tip. I have a different issue if you would be able to help me with .. When I press the start button on my fatboy, i have no response (as the case when the bike gear is not neutral) .. Is there certain reason for that? is there a way to restart the whole system of the bike. ? Also do you guys have any video for drilling stock mufflers to get deep louder sound? Thanks
I lost the fob and the key, Harley Subster 2012, and I brought an iron key only from the company in the United States of America, but I could not turn on the bike. Do you have a way to bypass the security system and turn it on?
OK I have a 2005 Dyna UK model with the ignition on the side by the battery and this is what works on mine. Hope it helps someone out 👍 so double click your keyfob to disarm the bike. then, iginition on off, on off on. left turn switch twice. now you should see both indicator lights on the dash flashing together like hazards. at this point you press the key fob twice. the personal pin will now be shown on the dash. you can use the inidicator buttons to change and then just turn ign off to save. i suggest "11111" to test.

Hi Anthony, you will need to take you FOB and bike to a Harley dealer to have the FOB assigned to your bike. You can buy spare FOBs if you loose one too.
Hi Mary, The dealership should be able to program the new FOB to match your current security system, then you can check the pin yourself we show how to do it in the first part of the video.
With the push button FOBs you need to pair it with the security system, for that procedure you need to be able to disarm the security system, if you cannot do so the TSSM will have to be replaced then the ECM and the new TSSM will have to learn a new password which is about a half hour process. I'm not sure what year model bike you were demonstrating on but it is different from my 2005 Softail Deluxe. Could it be that the FOB key battery is bad or cuircuitry on the bike is bad?
PS:sorry for bad grammar

Also….. Kill switch needs to be in the “Run” position. At least for pre2013 bikes
I cannot get the flashing dashes, however I was able to do it before. Then one day it just would not do it. Any one have a clue what I should do?
