I think an important thing to note when looking at older league of legends characters, someone like Jax was made at a time where League really didn't have a serious grasp on their lore or setting. Him fighting with a lamp post and his personality are heavily inherited from the original iteration of the character which could basically be summarized by saying "He was an undefeated duelist who was so strong he wasn't allowed to participate in fighting tournaments unless he handicapped himself, so he ditched actual weapons and took up a lamp to give his opponents a chance." His super cocky personality, and kind of goofy voice lines I don't think would really be part of his character if he didn't have to carry his initial legacy forward, but its a difficult balance to try and bring these original characters into the modern era of the game and fit the vision riot has for the future of their setting without upsetting the fans who love the original vision of the character.

The main reason now why he sticks with his lamp is because it's the last burning fire that reminds him of Icathia and a duty he needs to finish, which is fighting the void. His reworked visual update and lines still kept the part "imagine if I had a real weapon" implying people can't handle him if he had one, and beating em with a lamp is laughable. But tbh, I think his lamp alone is already as strong as any magical weapon out there thanks to the undying elemental fire of Icathia inside it. It made him even extend his life for all reason and purposes.

In Jax's case, it shows how he assembled a small crew of warriors, just like his bio said that he was looking to unite people against the void. This crew includes a castaway sailor from piltover, a bunch of war chefs (yes, war chefs) from demacia, an ionian fisherman, and a targonian pastor.
i had never listened to a single lol theme before discovering this channel. didnt even know the champs HAD themes. now im binge watching in love with this guy, his channel, and league more than ever
This whole song feels like overcoming the darkness within oneself. It's so full of hope and turmoil like Jax is battling his opponent's as well as himself.

5:42 I really love this particular part of the metal CLANG because remember his weapon is a metal torch with a flame that can harm the void. So you can view this calmer section of the song as him maybe having tripped in the middle of the fight, questioning himself if this is all worth it, if the hundreds of years he's been alove for to try and stop the Void have been worth it, and as we hear the crescendo is him hyping himself up, thinkng that it's worth it (and considering the line he has mentioning the kid which we all is the Make a Wish kid is now a base voice line he has we can assume he looks back fondly to the kid and wants to make sure the world is safe for him and future generations, and then... a dark screen, and as he slams the bottom part of his torch on the ground the flames atop it re-ignite with a much brighter and stronger flame of resolve as he continues the fight once more and he beats up whatever creature he was facing off against. That moment right there, that is one hell of a hype moment. Cheesy? Yeah it is, and we all love a good cheese.

In the timeline of Runeterra, the event that led to the fall of Icathia, known as the Void Wars, happened somewhere between 2500-2000 BN (before Noxus), with Icathia unleashing the Void in an attempt to control it and destroy the much larger nation that had imposed it's tyrannical rule over them, Shurima. However, the Void immediately started destroying Icathia, with only two known survivors, those being Zilean, a time mage who removed himself and his tower from time itself (he also managed to urge many other Icathians into the tower before removing it from time and keeps them in stasis), continually researching ways to destroy the Void permanently, and Jax, who remains alive in the year of 989 AN - 997 AN (most current lore events happen somewhere around this time) so he's been alive for a very long time, which is explained as the power of the fire in the lamp extending his lifetime. Jax was a warrior of Icathia, his full name being Saijax Cail-Rynx Kohari Icath'un, being part of the Kohari, a group of champions who were sworn to protect Icathia. While we don't really know how apt other Kohari were, we know Saijax was incredibly skilled with almost every weapon, earning him the title of Grandmaster at Arms. When the mages of Icathia found the Void, Saijax was one of the warriors tasked with escorting the mages deep into the earth where that small rift of the Void has been found and he saw how they could barely contain it with the brazier staves they carried. Saijax saw how the mages intended to wield the Void as a weapon and, being a weapon master, he understood how dangerous it truly was to wield a weapon you didn't understand and couldn't control. Despite this, he didn't take action against the mages, which he would come to regret for all of his life. When the Void was unleashed, it ravaged through Icathia, leaving no survivors in it's wake. Saijax ran and saved himself, leaving Icathia to be destroyed. Later, he would return intending on commiting ritual suicide, to honor the traditions of the Kohari. However, before he did, he saw one of the brazier staves still burning on amidst all of the Void. This simple but so pure vision of hope led him to picking up the staff and walking away from Icathia, and forsaking his name as punishment for running and not commiting to the ritual, now simply calling himself Jax. He shedded all of his name in shame, as almost all of it related to his ancestry. Saijax was his birth name, Cail and Rynx were the names of his mother and father respectively, Kohari was his occupation/ social standing and Icath'un his clan name. In Jax's mind, his actions had betrayed and disappointed all of these people, so he left all of it behind has be didn't find himself worthy of these names anymore. As far as we're aware, Jax has been spending most of the time since then wandering, looking for ways to defeat the Void and, recently, has started gathering warriors to fight by his side against it. In my opinion, all of this backstory ends up making Jax into the most true depiction of a hero. He has failed, he has wavered, he has even given up for a short time, but he always got back up, intent on fighting back the Void and avenging his people. When it comes to the relation between the music and the lore, it really feels like a representation of Jax's fighting prowess, his shame and guilt and his unwavering resolve and rage to fight back the Void.
Jax is such an interesting character, I love that parts of him are hard to pin down even by what is supposed to be his music. really speaks to the depths of his complexity. Fun fact, in his original lore he's so strong and overpowered that he picked up a random street lamp from his homeland to use as a way of nerfing himself and making things more fair for everyone else, and was still massively stronger than everyone else.

I know you more then likely won't see this, however: There is one game I'd love to see you cover and that is Mo Astray- it's a game that's not popular by any extent, but is one of my Top 5 favorites and contains some of my favorite music from the gaming industry to date. It's definitely worth a listen and I highly recommend the Final Boss Compilation and really any other tracks from the game. It's such a shame the game itself didn't gain any popularity as it's a puzzle-esq game with a pretty gripping story and beautiful design with 2D pixel graphics. But I'll still nonetheless toss it in as a recommendation.

But I managed to find an upload by the name "Jax Visual Update Ingame Trailer". That would have given you a better perspective on the updated personality and lore of Jax
I like to think this theme's vocals represent the diseased Icathian citizens which now root for Jax from the other side in his fight against the void. A champion, a grandmaster at arms, only witnessed by those he seeks to avenge. Kind of a badass thought, considering he boasts and fights to entertain, maybe because he feels like he's being witnessed.
So I saw your confusion when you saw his champion spotlight. It was because it was a very old version and back then lore was different at first Jax was a guy who joined league of legends (nowadays league of legends doesn't exist in its own cannon) and he was so good at fighting that he intentionally handicapped himself by using a lantern pole. That's it. So as you can see it changed significantly
You should look at some music from Remnant 2. The game covers a wide range of genre’s due to the world-hopping nature of the gameplay and it’s all amazing.

jax's theme song and lore dont really match up as well as other champs you reviewed so far. since he is one of the original 40 champions, his lore was completely different when this song was written. his original lore was that he was a monk, and a great duelist, who was so good he couldnt have a fair fight. so as a way of handicapping himself, he ripped a lamp post from the street, and used it to fight. he actually beat a grand duelist fiora with it, in a cinematic

So I saw your confusion when you saw his champion spotlight. It was because it was a very old version and back then lore was different at first Jax was a guy who joined league of legends (nowadays league of legends doesn't exist in its own cannon) and he was so good at fighting that he intentionally handicapped himself by using a lantern pole. That's it. So as you can see it changed significantly
You should look at some music from Remnant 2. The game covers a wide range of genre’s due to the world-hopping nature of the gameplay and it’s all amazing.

They change his lore he is an old champion and they just rework him couple a mounth ago personnaly i pref his old lore a vandale seeking for a good fight (he just annihilate his opponents) my favorite line "imagine if i have a real weapon"

jax's theme song and lore dont really match up as well as other champs you reviewed so far. since he is one of the original 40 champions, his lore was completely different when this song was written.
his original lore was that he was a monk, and a great duelist, who was so good he couldnt have a fair fight. so as a way of handicapping himself, he ripped a lamp post from the street, and used it to fight. he actually beat a grand duelist fiora with it, in a cinematic
