Awesome. I have a 22 altima midnight and this is the coolest video yet. I just wish there were more modern videos for the engine a transmission. However....I like this. Nicely done good sir!
Good tear down and rebuild cvt transmission and thanks for sharing this video
When I saw that belt I was like that HAS to be from a Nissan
I'm guessing you didn't have enough sense to read the title of the video 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
I'm guessing you didn't have enough sense to read the title of the video 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
No way 🥴
Or it's because you read the title moron
What’s the part numbers for the sub assembly and valve body?
Had my 2017 Altima just done it doesn’t slip any more but at 60 mph I feel a vibration that wasn’t there b4
If there's a judder/ vibration they're might be a code for a rebuild. Take it to a dealer and have them scan it
Wow, not only do you have to change the sub assembly but also the electronically control valve body. Then you have to flash the transmission control module in the car itself( CD include with valve body). In order for it to work correctly.
Yup everything gets changed and programmed
This was awesome, thank you for sharing the rebuild.
Nice man. It's very interesting looking into a CVT transmission. Great video! 👍
The last 2 minutes gave me whiplash
What's it's better, rebuild o a new one for an Altima 2009? Thank, and great job...
New
was that filter just the oil filter? Also, What year and engine type nissan altima was this? Because when I saw the oil cooler, it had 4 aluminum hoses instead of 2 like my 2007 altima does.
This one was a 2013+ year Altima. If there's only two hose they're probably just coolant lines. If there's 4 it's coolant and CVT fluid lines . 4 cylinder engine
Good stuff, but man that red battery on the green snap on impact drives me crazy.. I know when the green went low just pop in the red one right...
Wondering if Nissan is offering a "bandaid fix" or the parts are an upgrade to prevent future failures. Anyone know?
Bandaid fix.
So the Drive Belts which slip and cause the problems was not shown being changed out.??????????????????
My friend has a 16 Altima 2.5. The transmission gets hot and the car goes into limp mode. This is happening more and more. He also cannot step on it full throttle or the transmission slips at higher RPMs. If he babies it he can get places. Is his transmission shot? Dealer here in Aurora, CO is giving him the runaround.
Your buddy needs to get rid of it. He will replace trans and it’ll go out again after 50k miles
How do you know the same transmissions out there that last long just gotta keep it lubricated
@pedro prieto He ended up getting it replaced by the dealer for free under a class action lawsuit
@@DJR5280 again?
@@Chronicrockstar It only when out once
what part of a cvt transmission usually breaks?
Depends on how you drive. If you floor your car a lot, then the belt is usually the failure point. If you don’t replace the fluid every 30k, you could see anything fail. There are bearings, gears, hydraulic pumps, all kinds of stuff that could fail with bad fluid.
Have to do this job to my 07 Nissan murano fwd thanks for the video
Benjamin Emerson Sr. How everything went?
Alfredo
He’s still working on it
@@12yearssober lol that was great
Please
Can you tell me how I can get this rebuild kit for my transmission
I have altima 2008 V6
I got some transmission bad sound when car still cold
Car makes noisy when engage gear to D and accelerate over 2000 RPM
This is only for the newer cars. I think it's 2014+ year cars
Great video. Helped me out. Have you installed a drive belt ?
What was we supposed to had learned from a 5 minute video?🤔
The point is to just motivate us to dump out the motor and CVT and do a full swap with a 5speed automatic.
Top notch work @Jav's Garage!!!
What was that track at the end? Absolute banger!!
I don't remember the name but it's from TH-cam free music choices
I had no idea you could actually purchase that whole pulley assembly.
Where?
Where do you get parts for this rebuild?
my 2013 nissan altima jerks up hills and wont stop until i let off the gas and get back on it, rpms high while driving and wont shift unless i do the same..is that the belt slipping?
Any idea what causes these transmissions to stop pulling when they get warm?
can you provide a link an part numbers for the sub assembly I just called Nissan an they said they only sell the whole cvt transmission no parts
I love nissans but who puts a fricken belt inside a transmission? At least put the stupid thing on the outside!!!
Huh? you know before it was a rubber belt before it was metal lmao
Cool video. Where's the sound
I didn't see a pulley follower shaft
This is the exact same trans as in Jeep patriot, too.
Professional job.
New belt set how much and where is available out market or original
My 2017 altima has a bad transmission has trouble getting to first gear have to press down on the throttle but once it’s in first gear it’s fine and I can go all the way up to max speeds without a issue. Do you recommend a rebuild or new transmission. ?
I would say rebuild would probably be cheaper. They change the cvt assembly and valve body so it's basically a new transmission with the old case
Son barbaros para cobrar aveces no tiene nada la transmision o por cambiar un celenoide te dicen $3000.
How much did all the parts cost? Where can I get them???
How much would a rebuild coast for 2015 Nissan Altima transmission
I have a 2013 Altima sv with 142k miles on it. When i start the car and put it in anything but park it shuts off. I have to have my foot on the gas and brakes in-order for it to stay cranked. It shifts really bad. After driving it for about 15 minutes if i put the car in park/off and put it in drive or reverse the car doesn’t move. It doesn’t rev up with my foot all the way to the floor. It just hums repeatedly. Wondering if i should replace or rebuild the cvt???
At that point a replacement CVT would be recommended
Greetings! How long does most rebuilt CVT's last? I have a 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander that has a whining CVT (bad oil pump). The dealer does not recommend a rebuild. Help me make since of this situation please. Thanks.
Not all cvts can be rebuild. Sometimes replacing is the only way
Where can I buy the entire rebuild kit at? Tried the dealer and they said Nissan doesn’t make them
is it possible to interchange nissan CVT with another brand's CVT for example mitsubishi ?
Where you@ do you have a shop? I need work all the time im a wholesaler. Got a 2015 versa sv, shifts nice, just whines, already changed fluid and additive but didn't help much
How much would the transmission cost
Depending on year and model roughly $2,00-3,500ish
Where Do You Buy the New Pullies Assembly and the New Valve Body?? Thanks for the info in Advance!

We're the clutches for the planetary gear also changed?
Just had a problem today on the road with my 2017 Nissan Rogue 26k milage and already transmission problem, do you think it has a factory warranty?
I would call the dealer. I think they extended certain vehicles warranty
Cuánto me cobras por reparar mi trasmicion Nissan Altima 2018
How much is this repair kit
So it can be rebuilt? How much?
Not %100 sure. It's always been under warranty so we don't see the numbers i'm guessing $2,500 -$3,000roughly depending on model
As a Datsun / Nissan Tech, it is a single marvel of engineering crap! A 238 pound of of turd!
ASE Master Tech since 1978 - Retired
Agreed
CVT POS has ruined Nissan resale values, even the ones with manual transmission which are now excellent values.
Agreed 👍
What do you get the chain belt set up at?
Is the valve body easy to reach under the vehicle or do you still need to take the transmission off regardless to get to them?
You can reach the valve body under the car. Just take the trans pan off and Remove the 10mm bolts marks with a the number 7 on them and the 14mm for the gear selector along with the green connector
Yup, couple hrs you'll have it in and out. Dont forget to torque the bolts. I believe around 60 in/lbs (NOT ft/lbs)
Same with your oil pan.
Good luck these CVT's seem to be hot and miss when just replacing a valve body! Works for some and thrown away money for others.
If your keeping the car, might want to find out about that sub assembly. That thing is slick!
What website can I use to buy that rebuild kit?
Great job guys 🙂 where did you get the replacement parts from, Nissan I assume?
Yes
@@JavsGarage ok thanks, I remember you saying you worked for Nissan so I'm sure you got a nice deal. How much are the parts normally.
Depending on the year and model . Roughly 1,500 -2,500
Excellent thanks
Really like how you got the sub assembly for the CVT.
Any chance of getting a link, name of business, or part # ?
The trans and valve body look identical to my 2012 Altima. Just could tell if it was single or dual pressure sensors...
Should be a JFO11E or REOF10A?
Do you install aftermarket trans coolers when you do this work? I heard heat is a big factor to failure in these CVT's.
Cheers, nice vid!
Most vehicles already have the external coolers from factory. But as far as part# I'm not sure off the top of my head. Any Nissan dealer can provide that for you just give them the VIN and tell them it's the cvt rebuild kit
@@JavsGarage
The dealership wouldn't quote me for a rebuild kit...They wanted $3100 plus taxes for another trans.
I went with a salvage unit for $1100. Completed the swap on Saturday. So far it is working flawlessly! My God are these units very heavy for their size! The exhaust looked a little rusty on mine, so i removed the trans from the top.
Wouldnt mind finding the sub assembly, replacing the bad pulleys in mine, and requip some of the money...
The rebuilds started with the 2014+ model years I think. I'll have to double-check if they go that far back. But yeah they want alot of money for them and they are really heavy for the size haha! We use a transmission jack to pull it down ,I used one in a CVT removal video I posted. It'll definitely be a challenge on the ground
@@JavsGarage
I went through the top with my trans, so i hooked a strap around it, and zctually used and electric forklift to remove and install the used trans. I was lucky that my dads best friend is a general contractor and let me have access to the shop! Lol
@@splash5974 did you have a lift like that, or did you do it on the ground?
Awesome vid!
What's the name of those seals at min 8:17 I would greatly appreciate it
How much (around bout) is the parts your replaced on this transmission
Around 2k depending on model and year
How much is to rebuild a trans like that ?
From what I remember it's around 2400-3k depending on car
Great job thanks for sharing 👍👍
Can that metal belt can be replace with something better
unfortunately it cannot
NEED HELP ...
Have 2008 Nissan rogue SL 2 wheel drive.
It's leaking transmission fluid from transmission door (nuts off the flywheel). I have replaced 2 cv axle seals, front pump or torque converter seal. Finally purchased New torque converter. After putting all back together and 3 days later it's leaking?
What am I missing or what do you recommend?
I've already drop transmission twice.
Any suggestions would help
Great videos and keep up the good work!!!
There's a o ring in the transmission where the input shafts goes through. It's a small rubber o rinf on the tip of the shaft that goes into the torture convertor that could be the issue. Or the seal that goes around that small shaft
If you look at 0:53 that's the shaft in talking about. There's a small subbed o ring at the tip. And before I took off the bell housing there's a seal around that shaft as well
@@JavsGarage you got to be kidding ME...lol. That's sub O ring cause possiblity cause the leaks 😲😲😲. Honestly, I reviewed and seems ok. No tear or any signs of worn O rings. Let just say "I replace O rings" and continue the leaks...what the next protocol?
Appreciate your comments....
That's like worst possible outcome I've only Seen it once. But if you changed the torque convertor seal and the actual convertor on a 2wd there's no more common issues I know of unless I see it In person
@@JavsGarage I'm here with mechanic and the front pump seal seems to be loose to where it was removed by hand. That's twice that happens. What is causing the seal to be loose?
I know this sounds "out of technical process" what I put RTV or sealant adhesive around the seal from happening again?
Thanks Javi, appreciate your feedback.
How much do you charge for this service and where are you located?
How much to rebuild my cvt transmission?
Hi. Where do you get your rebuild kit? The dealer wants me to buy the transmission instead.
I'm not sure if a regular customer can purchase it. I worked at a Nissan dealer that's why I was doing the job . Try calling a different dealer maybe you'll get a different response
There are rebuild kits on RockAuto for my 2013
Is there a part number for the pulley assembly?
There is but every model is different you have to call a Nissan and give them your VIN
I have a question where do u guys order seals from I've looked everywhere for a front pump seal for my 11 versa 1.8 cvt cant find a seal for it
Did you find them yet? I order most of my parts from Transtar
Where did you get that knife? That thing is sweet!
It's badass ! Link in the description
@@JavsGarage thank you!
Can I ship mine to y’all to have you rebuild?

so the problem was the sub assembly or the steal push belt ?
The belts but that's part of the sub assembly do it's replaced as one unit
Symbiote215 can i just replace the belt ?
@@ferashamad8843 to do it properly you'll need the sub assembly and valve body . I haven't seen it where they just changed the belts/sub assembly

How much would it cost

if you drive like a granny, it'll have a much higher likelihood of lasing way longer
if you drive like an asshole (like me unfortunately), it will fail MUCH faster

Amazing video was curious as to what causes these transmissions to go cause I'm experiencing some issues with mine
