Final Assembly series part 12
We take the injectors to a specialist, Alliant Power near Denver. The results are well, see for yourself. These injector settings are the same for all early D4400 & D4600 4.25 4-1/4" bore engines. The 1939 Caterpillar D4 / RD4 4G9986 "Lil Lefty" has never been so much fun and fulfilling. The machine has the Cat D4400 Diesel engine. I hope you enjoy the shop talk, banter and commentary.
We are operators pretending to be mechanics!
Thanks for watching!

Impressive
Glad to see Lefty moving!
If we can get past this frustrating track problem I'm really setting up to make the final video a good one! 👍
@@lifeafterourloss As my dad always said, “that’s no hill for a couple steppers like you and dad!”
@@lifeafterourloss what causes wet stacking?
Thank you thank you thank you. 🙏 👍 😊
I have two D4600’s in the 9K motor graders. I’m going to be checking the injectors and pumps here soon
I highly recommend this company. They were very reasonable and prompt.
@@lifeafterourloss thanks 🙏. If I do I’ll let you know. 🤔
But I was assured that both 1945 9K Caterpiller Motor Grader’s ran when parked 🤣😂🤣
Now that’s funny 😆 I don’t care who you are.
I’m working on the 1954, No12, 8T D318 at the moment. Pony electric starter issues. 👀
Loved this series of videos. Great content and I love the way you guys convey the information. I felt like I was part of a community rebuild and when she first fired off I too had a tear or two from the joy 🥲.
This video was definitely the Cat’s meow.
Wow that was interesting. The guys at Alliant Power sure know there stuff.
Interesting!
Great to see a business that knows the old stuff and can work on it. Great to see it wet stacking like a Swiss Watch!
Couldn't agree more!
Never seen how those were tested before. Amazing!
Wish I had that pot of gold from the end of that rain bow
Me too! That was definitely a beautiful rainbow I couldn't help but share it. 😊
A double rainbow 🌈
Beautiful
I think I would remove both fenders and pay a boy to spend a couple of hours driving it around the field to loosen them up, maybe high center it on some carefully arranged blocks so all the tractor's weight can be placed on the offending links
Nice job nice people interesting.
Might have to take the chains to a track shop and have them push the pins out and back in.
Area diesel services will also rebuild those injectors for you and fully test them,,They are also registered CAT repair specialists,,
I can't remember who I called but these were the only guys that gave me the time of day. I will definitely keep them in mind for the future.
Tighten those tracks and run it
Remove left Fender add temporary fuel tank run the hell out of it outside
We're ahead on videos but that's going to happen!
Just and idea for your tracks. Is it possible to take the track off and stand it on a machine that vibrates non stop for days on end. In other words, the constant movement would eventually cause the disintergration of the rust particles causing the track pins and bushes to lock-up. Perhaps one of the vibrators used for taking air bubbles out of freshly poured concrete might produce aggresive vibration.
It might take a big vibratory compactor like they use to compress roadways when they build them
We're going to do something similar and I think another tractor is going to help us out. Just going to take some time. 👍
You should have took the injection pump with you and let him tune it up also
We already did the injection pump and are quite confident with the results. Definitely something will consider when we work on the toolbar 7U.
Get that thing outside and run it
Yes I agree. Take the second fender off, rig up temporary fuel tank and any other supports you may need, and then run it around the paddock in second/third gear for a bit.
