    The only acoustics I have are Larrivee. I've been playing 25 years and tried all the £££££ high end guitars and some luthier builds. Nothing beats my Larrivee. They truly are affordable luxury and I love that they don't overcharge for these guitars. Your guitar there sounds brilliant. I have:
    OM02 (sitka/sapele)
    OM05 (sitka/hog)
    P-03 (sitka/hog)
    OM03BH (moon/Bhilwara)
    L-05 (sitka/hog)
    The OM02 Canadian build is my fave, lightly built. Sapele is the ultimate tonewood imo. I prefer their normal bracing as opposed to the 40 series bracing.
    Great customer service!
    Congrats on finding Larrivee - they are the BEST.

    Thank you for your assessment of the quality and tonal performance of your Larrivee. I am searching for a new acoustic now and will put them in my options.

    I worked there for 18 years until 2013 when they closed the Canadian operation. Pretty sure the first guitar you showed would be a D-05, as the 03 series was all satin finish…

    I have three Larrivees but only one was on purpose. I spent hours at Wildwood Music playing everything in my price range, and Marty (they're closed now) handed me a gorgeous florentine cutaway guitar all glossy and beautiful and I said - I don't want to play anything I can't afford, and I know I can't afford this. He said to play it anyway and it was exactly the sound I wanted. He showed me the price and that sealed it. I would have had to spend probably 2k more on a Lowden to get a sound that thrilling. That is my first Larrivee - an L-05 with a florentine cutaway. The other two happened because once you realize what they are, you keep an eye out for them.

      Absolutely. I love all three of mine for different reasons. Maybe the best buy in fine acoustics.

    I also have a Larrive'e O-01 Parlor guitar. The same kind astronaut Chris Hadfield brought with him on the I.S.S.
    (International Space Station).
    I play that guitar almost everyday. I bring it with me to work. It was made on November 24th 1999, which makes it 24 years old (in a couple months).

      @@EdPettersen Yes they do depending on how well they are kept. The guy I brought it off of was a recording artist and he did take very good care of it but it did have a couple of dings in the wood around the perimeter of the sound board but you come to expect that sort of thing with instruments that get played frequently.
      He had it strung with with half a set of 12 string... strings because he had Nashville AKA High Strung tuning since he was using it in some of his recordings. I left those strings on for a little while but found it difficult to sing with the guitar while it was High Strung. So I put phosphor bronze Elixir lights on it.
      I also used to have a Larrive'e Parlor with Rosewood back and sides it sounded amazing. I DO REGRET SELLING THAT ONE. I'll have to look through my archive of cover videos and see if I put up a video of me playing the song THE RIP by PORTISHEAD on one of my TH-cam channels with the Rosewood Larrive'e Parlor.

    I think anyone who plays a Larrivee loves them but somehow they are still under the radar. The build, the finish and most of all the quality of the spruce tops are superb. The resonance and sustain are outstanding, I could go on. Suffice to say that many top end guitars sound great but Larrivees 'sing'.

    • @EdPettersen
      @EdPettersen  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They really do sing and I totally agree about the Spruce tops. Head and shoulders above the rest IMO.

    I have an Larrive'e L-03R E
    The rosewood back and sides version with the electronics built-in. I LOVE IT. But I would consider selling it because I want to buy a Redwood top guitar since I like to play fingerstyle mostly.

    I have the Fishman Rare-Earth pick up as well but I have not been able to find one with the microphone. So if you ever want to sell your Fishman Rare Earth with the microphone version, I would probably be interested to buy it off of you. I doubt that you would want to part with it though.😢

  • @aficionadolurecompany700
    @aficionadolurecompany700 ปีที่แล้ว

    I was thinking that it would be cool to hear you play your new Larrive'e but also put your Fishman Rare Earth with a microphone inside of it and then do like a comparison of the different pickup options the under the bridge saddle version that comes with the guitar and then the fishman version and then how it sounds acoustically I know it needs a little bit more time to settle. Because the guitar still thinks it's a tree probably. But I've always kind of wanted to do this myself and then put a certain kind of effect on the built-in pickup. Maybe with a slight delay. Then run the Fishman Rare-Earth w/ microphone pickup to a reverb pedal or something. Then play a nice arpeggio type of song like Weird Fishes Arpeggio by Radiohead. In theory... it should sound like 3 guitar playing the same notes but you are only playing one guitar obviously. What do you think?

    • @aficionadolurecompany700
      @aficionadolurecompany700 ปีที่แล้ว
