I have an L-27(C-19) Flying Eagle, built in Victoria in the spring of 1982. I bought the guitar around 1985 (and traded in my electrical equipment for it, which I have never regretted). It's a wonderful instrument that has acquired an increasingly beautiful, overtone-rich sound over the years. I have other very beautiful guitars, but the Larrive with Venetian cutaway is my favourite.
Beautiful collection. Love the maple guitars. I have a 1996 Larrivee OM-10 which we affectionately call "The Unicorn". It has quilted maple back and sides, ebony bridge and fretboard along with the Wendy Larrivee headstock Unicorn, fretboard torch and scroll and Celtic knot bridge inlays. I've never pulled it out in public without answering an obligatory q&a session.
I have an OM40-R that I purchased before this video, early 2022. I am so impressed with the stability and sounds. Now I see Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors playing, per Drew, a custom OM40 with a slotted headstock and pyramid bridge. I am beginning to become an advocate after playing many other builders and not being impressed with the sounds, not to mention the prices. Thanks for an old school walkthru.
Thank you, thank you, you made my day. I just bought my first very special Larrivee and this video helped me decide what model I wanted as an intermediate player. I manage to snag from a local music store here in Canada: 2017 Larrivee OM-3GR, 50th Anniversary Special; Spruce top. Maple binding, white oak sides and back ( also called GR: Grevillea Robusta ) Special Edition Gold 18/1 tuners and LR Baggs transducer pickup. With Larrivee HSC. Signed by Jean Larrivée. Once again, thank you and keep on giving us delicious videos
Those maple Larrivees are beautiful. Loved the C10. I have a rareJCL 40th Anniversary Edition and 2 1998 Brazilian Flying Eagles, a D09 and D10. Big Larrivee fan, you have an amazing assortment.
Gorgeous collection of Larrivees. You can really tell Jean Larrivee is a wood guy as much as he is a guitar builder. I've owned of couple of 03 series guitars. To my eyes, the woods chosen for those guitars were every bit at nice at the woods I've seen on 05, 09, or 10 series guitars. I still regret selling the D-03R, which was my first Larrivee... Of the guitars you showed, I especially liked the maple on the Jumbo with the cedar top. It's a very interesting mix of quilting and flame. I currently own two Larrivees, a 2004 D-09 (bought new in 2004), and a 2010 D-09BZ. The '04 is a cannon because I gigged the hell out of that guitar, so it's fully opened up. As nice as the '04 is, the D-09BZ is somehow on another level. I have to imagine that Larrivee takes some extra care with the Brazilian RW guitars, considering the status of the wood.
HELP. I had an OM-03r or OM-06r (I don’t recall exactly). It had a clear pickguard. I think it was a 96’. I know that there was a change in necks sometime in the 90’s. This one had a neck reminiscent of an electric. Wide but thin from a depth perspective. I loved that guitar and when some simpleton fell and pushed the back through a guitar stand it broke my heart. I could never look at it the same even if repaired. I bought a D-03R and it’s incredibly loud but it’s not like my OM. If I knew when the neck change happened and/or what models had that neck, I would buy one in a second.
You weren't rambling at all, this is a wonderful tour of your amazing Larrivee guitars.

Wow! I’m just happy to have a SD40M and a P03 arriving tomorrow.
