Thank you All, this is valuable information. Paul how likely is your company to hire new Brokers given how busy you guys are and the tenure of the team there?

What's the best way to directly connect to shippers without using brokers?

Yes. Our course is extensive and covers how shippers operate and what they're looking for.

Our broker informed us that a shipper want a business meeting with our trucking company. What does this means? What questions should we ask? And, What should we have prepared for this meeting??

This is a good thing. I would prepare a list of all of the lanes you've run for them over the previous year. You'll want to ask about their business and what they are expecting for the rest of the year in shipment volumes. Be prepared to address any loads that didn't deliver on time or were canceled last minute. They'll likely also want to discuss your rates for the rest of the year. Don't overthink it. It's a great opportunity for you to both learn more about each other.
