The most beautiful place in the world... (Episode 269)

  • In this episode we continue cruising around Fiordland in New Zealand, which fast became our favourite place we had ever taken the boat. We literally drive the boat under a waterfall, but eventually have to set sail north towards Nelson, to try complete our circumnavigation of the country!
SV Parlay is a hurricane damaged Lagoon 450 catamaran, which Colin rebuilt with friends and has started sailing around the world. We found bulkhead damage on their catamaran in Panama, so have fixed her up, and are now sailing across the Pacific Ocean!!

The drone footage was so stellar,, felt like I was watching a National Geographic film,, the memories you all are logging I know will be cherished to your last breath.. it’s easy to feel the joy jumping off the screen.. and I love the decision to head north.. seize the moment is status quo for Parlay and her crew❤

They don’t want to commercialize and ruin the beauty and I don’t blame them. There’s primordial things going on in those breathtakingly verdant mountains. Let the mystical remain untouched (untrashed) by humans. What an amazing land you come from Colin. I know this trip will surround your thoughts and dreams forever. Thanks for sharing the majesty. Just a phenomenal episode. Great video and spectacular scenery. Wife and I visited Milford Sound in April this year from Perth, Western Australia and were just blown away by the whole experience. We did a cruise out and back and went up to Stirling Falls... it wasn't flowing as fast as in your video, but still very impressive. Your video brought back some great memories. Thanks...

You captured the Milford Sound so beautifully, having seen it in 2021, I was moved again at its stunning scenery and how it is so breathtaking and overwhelming in the best way possible. We were able to scatter some of our Mum's ashes there, the Mitre Peak cruise captain respectfully stopping the boat for us to have our loving moment in a special spot that will always remain in our hearts. It would be so cool if you could find Lin Pardey while you’re in NZ - anchor in the bay she lives in and hang out with one of the OG cruising legends.

Honestly this place reminds me of Kotor, Montenegro. It's a town from the 1100's situated right up against the bottom of huge mountains and in an inlet from the ocean where the water is super calm all the time. We want to go back so bad.

Hi. The west coast of New Zealand is not for the faint of heart - or the inexperienced. You showed good seamanship when you took advantage of a weather window. The Tasman Sea is not a place where you want to hang around. I'm sure you've had some negative comments about missing Nelson and stops on the north island but those people have no idea of the responsibility you carry for your boat and crew. Well done. I can't wait to see next week's episode! Towing warps? I think that proves my point!😂😂🌊🌊😱

I learned something this morning while watching this with my older cousin. The Polonisian in him says it is Aotearoa, not New Zealand. Learned alot about the Indian Fijian side of the fam and their migration to Cananda and the US. Thank for being the catalyst for that conversation.
From one Canadian to another who is petrified of heights.
Woooo! Brit on going up the mast. What a cool spot to do it in. Happy sailing till next week.

Indeed! Māori are the indigenous Polynesian people of New Zealand and call it Aotearoa 😊

@ParlayRevival Got a good history lesson on Fiji and how everyone is connected. I can't imagine traveling those distances in the boats they used.
