    A witness seen him on the road as cars changed lanes to miss him and then the witness called 911, six minutes later he was hit. So he was at least wandering on the road in traffic for 6 minutes. Obviously the problem wasn't the traffic as many cars were trying to dodge him ... the problem was he was walking across traffic. I don't think blaming the truck driver is the answer here. He probably does this route every day. Saying he was sleepy or speeding or intoxicated is ridiculous. If anyone showed signs of intoxication its the dude walking around on the road. You're only focus on homocide here. There is no reason to assume any fault on this driver. He just happened to be the one who couldn't get out of the way. Clearly, Haskins is at fault for being out walking in traffic for at least 6 minutes.

      Ok if this is true he had to be drunk because any person with a sober mind would not be doing that especially when cars were avoiding him he should’ve gotten off immediately the fact he stayed makes me think he was drunk. Also the driver can’t risk his life by trying to avoid hitting a guy who shouldn’t be on the road in the first place.

    He didn’t walk to the Eastbound off ramp because that put you on I-95 with no chance to get off the interstate along with more problems. The Westbound off ramp on I-595 has gas stations as within walking distance soon as you come off onto State Road 441. Sounds like he was in a rush to make that flight or may have been partying late and trying to avoid a DUI if the police stopped before AAA arrived. RIP

    I live here in South Florida. 595 is basically I-95 that runs East and West. Even on a Saturday morning traffic is going fast. Also, we nicknamed 595 the “spaghetti bowl” because of how confusing the lanes are because there are so many lanes designated for entering and exiting. In other words, it’s a very fast and dangerous freeway for even those with experience driving on 595. Don’t know why he got out of his vehicle and tried crossing the freeway but any of us that live down here and have travelled many of times on 595 would NEVER even try to cross any part of that freeway on foot. There are cameras posted in certain sections of 595 I wonder if his death was caught on tape. Seems like a strange place and strange way to kill yourself but who knows. Only 24 years young I feel horrible for the family of this young man and the driver that struck him.

    • @treebossmike8818
      @treebossmike8818 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also- I’m guessing he flew down here. His flight was probably to FT Lauderdale International Airport. 595 is a direct corridor to that airport. Mitch Trubisky lives in Boca Raton, which is less than a hour drive from ft lauderdale international airport. Explains why he was traveling that early on a Saturday morning. I think, like most people traveling on 595 for the first time, he missed his exit to go north and probably panicked a little bit and pulled over. Don’t know if he was using google maps or GPS but even then it’s really easy to get stuck in the wrong lane because of heavy traffic and not be able to change lanes and completely miss your exit. I think that’s what happened to him. He pulled over off to the shoulder. He got out of his vehicle. Don’t know why but he did. Maybe he thought he needed to cross the road to get a better view of a road sign? Don’t know. I think he underestimated how fast vehicles travel on that freeway and over estimated how fast he can run. There are several lanes on 595 it’s a really wide freeway. We don’t know if the dump truck was empty or fully loaded. If it was loaded and heavy that’s a lot of weight to try and suddenly stop because all of sudden there is a pedestrian on a freeway which is something rarely encountered down here (outside of being on the shoulder of the road).

    I instantly assumed he could have possibly been drunk, broke down, and then tried to ditch the car. A dui would end his career and gives a reason he felt safer crossing a highway than sitting in his car with hazards on. There were rumors he ran out of gas so that would explain riding on empty. Or he wasn't gonna his flight and now broke down the rental car and just snapped. Suicide is possible if the training went like shit cuz he just got the job 4 weeks ago and was 3rd string. If he was practicing poorly he could have snapped after going from a 1st road pick to almost out of the league in a couple of years. He spent most of his earnings right away too on flashy stuff, so he could be under extreme financial stress. He could have fucked up his rental car and freaked out, or taken an anti anxiety for the upcoming flight, lowering his inhibitions. Once I wasn't even depressed and took Xanax with a friend on a train and I kept thinking I should walk onto the tracks. Like that voice that tells you not to do something that'll get you killed goes away. Either way it's very sad because it was so senseless. The term “limited access Highway” is confusing because nobody calls it that in regular speak and it’s used interchangeably with other terms. Basically, he was trying to cross the Interstate. The term “limited access” just means you have “limited access” to the businesses, houses etc. you drive past, because you have to find the nearest off-ramp. And to get on the Highway, your “access” is limited to the nearest on-ramp. It’s not “limited” in the sense that you need special credentials or anything to use it.
    Actually, I595 might be more accurately called a “controlled access Highway,” but that’s another can of worms.
    Long story short, it’s meant for fast moving traffic that doesn’t stop and definitely NOT meant for pedestrians to cross.

It stayed on top while I was driving around the community street but when I got on the entrance ramp to get I. The highway I saw it on my rear view mirror as it flew from the top of the car. I had everything in that bag - ID, credit cards, money, and other important documents and purse contents. My heart dropped but I pulled off the side of the entrance ramp and I was so lucky because a few cars behind me was a Fire Marshall and he had a car with emergency lights. So he saw my purse all over the ramp - so he was so amazing - he turned his lights and siren on and pulled his diagonally across the ramp. He stopped all on- coming traffic and an officer he must have called arrived like 2 min later and he helped me collect my belongings. Had I not been fortunate to have the Fire Marshall behind me, and then a traffic officer right around the corner who could help me safely collect everything g, I don’t think I’d been able to get my bag. It would have been ruined, run over, etc. And since it was an entrance ramp to the highway 5 miles from the airport it was super busy area all the time.

    Limited access road simply means no pedestrian traffic. Only vehicle traffic. It does not mean that it is a private road lol. Almost all highways and interstates in America are illegal to Walk down the side of. It's a pretty common and known fact. It's mostly because of the reasons on why Mr. Haskins was hit by a vehicle is it's just not safe for people to be walking in a confined space with fast moving traffic.

    This makes no damn sense. Why on gods green earth was he trying to cross the interstate? There is a backstory that we are not aware of yet. I hope the Fort Lauderdale police Florida Highway patrol investigate this. The area that he was at is an industrial area on one side in the Fort Lauderdale Hollywood airport on the other. I would like to know if he had a cell phone with him or his wallet. The only thing that would make me run into an interstate is if somebody was chasing me. There has to be a reason for him to be there. It’s so tragic.

    Sometimes it's always best to wait for the accident report, exactly where was Dewayne when he got hit by the truck, was it in the roadway, on the shoulder, on the immediate barrier 🚧? something's telling me we're not hearing the whole story and you have to ask yourself why would anyone try to cross the freeway if that's the case.
    He could have been struck on the shoulder trying to change a flat tire, and from the impact could have knocked him into the roadway... Car trouble he could have been walking along the shoulder when the truck could have lost control striking him. Or Dwayne could possibly dodging the truck unsuccessfully...
    I seriously believe waiting for the accident report to shine light on what really happened... My condolences to his friends and family on their loss

    Man, give people a microphone and give them a You tube channel and they say the stupidest stuff. No one except Dewayne Haskins knows exactly what happened on that morning. How can they say that he was trying to cross the roadway when he was hit? They said that his car was stopped on the berm of the highway so by simply inspecting the vehicle they should immediately know if the car had broken down. They mentioned nothing about that. After stepping out of his vehicle, if he was on the highway, traffic should have been able to avoid a pedestrian. That’s why cars and trucks have brakes and steering wheels. He was hit and killed by a dump truck that he ran into? That’s the police statement, he ran into the truck. Somethings fishy here, he was crossing a freeway on foot and he ran into the dump truck? Sounds like a story that a distracted and reckless driver would make up trying to avoid responsibility for the accident. There is evidence on the truck itself as to where his body made contact with the truck and trauma to the body that should indicate which way he was facing when struck. The coroner’s report and the crime scene investigation should tell the story along with camera footage of the intersection at the time of the accident. The information released by the police creates more questions than it answers.
