For anyone curious about the discrepancy with Evie’s reciting of 4 compared to the game’s, the number 4 in Japanese actually has 2 words for it: “yon” and “shi.” The latter isn’t used by many people and works of entertainment do to a superstition around the fact that it sounds similar to the Japanese word for die, shine (pronounced as shi-neh). Basically, if you use shi instead of yon, you either a) aren’t superstitious, b) didn’t know about that little tidbit, or c) you just don’t fear death.
It's closer to the word for "death" than "die" but because of how grammar works you aren't exactly wrong. Also, most numbers have two ways of being said/written, I forget what they're called.
I never would have known this. I only know 1-10 in Japanese because a guest speaker taught the numbers to my school in elementary, but they used "shi."
@@BlueSparxLPs While I don't know if this is true in the kanji, but if you know the names of 1-10 in Japanese, you can count to 99, because the names of 11-99 are just combinations of the 1-10 names. For example, 12 is jyuunii, 32 is sanjyuunii, and 99 is kyuujyuukyuu.
For anyone wondering, the page at 11:38 says "Answer the quiz to save the pokemon from team rocket!" and the subheader says "which number", so I'm guessing the narrator would give you some numbers and you have to pick the correct grid. 11:53 is about adding numbers

I would be cool to not only digitalize the contents of the cartrigde, but also make a digital version of the game, so people could just experience it from the confort of their home :D I'm not the most experienced dev, but it would be a cool project and a chance to learn stuff
One piece of lost media I'd be very interested in seeing found is a demo for Pokemon Red/Blue Rescue Team called Gold Rescue Team. It was a demo of PMD released only in Korea and developed for windows, interestingly. (It's been a while since I read the Bulbapedia page for it, so might have gotten some details wrong)
It's my understanding that this demo was *Korean and online only, and thus sadly it's likely been completely lost, even if somebody had the original file which I doubt. I mean I could be wrong too. I'm not even sure this demo had an official release of any kind past the initial testing. Which really is a shame, because I'd love to play it too.
As far as archival there's definitely got to be a way to dump the cartridge, I would reach out to Video Game History Foundation or someone similar and see if they can help you figure it out! With the book, aside from scanning the pages I have no idea. This was a really fun video! Scotland looks so beautiful and it's definitely on my "Places i need to visit" list now
That is SO COOL!! And to discover it was in such a cute little quiet town in Scotland. My husband and I just visited Scotland a couple of weeks ago and it really was so bucolic. So many Mareeps grazing beside the road 😂 Great video! Congratulations on finding such lost media!
omg this is soo incredibly cute for the love of lost media and media preservation, take some high-quality pictures and scans of the book and try to rip the cartridge, someone mustttt have some knowledge about this particular device.
You're like a real Pokemon trainer! Hunting down this rare species of Pokemon and traveling to an entire different region/country in order to get it. Only instead of it being a Pokemon it's a Pokemon Game. Also 5:32 is that a secret Kyepha reference? OwO

Hi! I just recently found your channel and wanted to show you some love!!! I’ve been sick the last few days and unable to leave the house. Your videos have really comforted me and I’ll definitely continue to binge your awesome content!! I love how wholesome and positive you are about the franchise. I’ve grown tired of hearing fully grown men complain online about the most minuscule mess ups that game freak has. It’s super refreshing to watch some positive, fun Pokémon videos. Keep up the great work 🩷✨
Hey Evie, great find! Please if you can, do try to find a way to digitalize the cartridge! While it's great to have it physically (and, well, you need the whole setup for it), the contacts or other electronics in it could go bad and the data would be lost. (This is assuming it hasn't been done by someone already plus just the cartridge data is not amazing - but we still gotta preserve!) Have a good one, cheers.
Okay real facts, I'm pretty sure the reason I'm interested in national anthems, and possibly national folk music in general, is because of the LeapPad book "The Seven Continents". Every country had a piece of music attached to it...not every one was actually a national anthem and I'm still unsure of what a lot of them are. Like Sweden's, I didn't hear again until I watched...yes, seriously... _Friday the 13th..._ it's the one the one dude is playing on the guitar to the other camp counselors. Countries that actually had their anthem: Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, UK, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Russia (the one from the 90s), China, Japan, India. Australia's was Waltzing Matilda and it was a pretty weird version, give me Slim Dusty any day of the week. Other interesting ones: Ireland (Danny Boy), Vatican City (Donna Nobis Pacem), Peru (El Condor Pasa), and finally the good ol' US of A with America the Beautiful. But my personal two favorites are the Koreas and Mongolia, neither I've been able to find since. Thanks for listening. Rant over!
This is awesome. It would be super cool to realize you are that close to something unique. I'm always amazed when people find something new, well, not new but that I haven't heard of.
So for extracting the audio: There MAY be a device for dumping the ROM itself, but it seems unlikely. A simple solution, though, is to open up the leap pad, disconnect the speaker wires from the speakers, and wire those up to a headphone jack. You could then plug that into the mic input and record them directly.
Honestly, if I was told "oh yeah, lost media is most often recovered in Scotland" I would believe it. The towns of Scotland just feel like a place where time hits a crawl.
2:59 seeing that reminded me of a similar thing by sister and I used to play and learn with. After a few searches I found one complete and in great condition x'D Thank you for this travel to the past, Evie.
Not really lost media, but maybe you can do a video on discontinued Pokémon games such as Pokémon Duel for mobile devices or games for console that were once announced, but never came to fruition or something, and they were just lost to time. Who knows, you might find some hidden gems that not much, if anyone has ever played.
I think it's because of how large this franchise is that there's so much lost media. They make A LOT of stuff. It's surprising some of the less notable stuff would end up lost.
I know it’s not lost media, but my first pokémon game overall was poképark 2 and I have not heard these games talked about much. All I remember is what i now know is the “tech zone” having a pipe with a galvantula in maybe? And it was also where I learnt the size Gengar actually were
I have a pop-up playbook set from the Pokemon Lucario movie. It came with little cut outs of toys and other pokemon. When you open the book it has different pop up locations from the movie where you can play with your toys in each section. Its blue and i think it has a holographic lucario on the back
if you want to get the soundtrack off it, you can mod the leapfrog, it's not that tricky if you can solder but if not, maybe a good idea contacting a youtuber like "lookmumnocomputer" plus i kinda like the idea of a video where you're walking around his museum (this museum is not obsolete) if the dude can make a furby synth, he can mod a leapfrog.
Damn, I just came from an LSSQ video. I'd love to see some more Pokemon lost media, I am a huge fan of archiving historical pieces of media (as well as random stuff I like that probably won't go anywhere, but just to make sure, I've backed it up)
Forgotten Worlds is about 20 minutes from where I live, we visited for the first time not too long ago. Amazing little shop. Can't believe this was just sitting there!
Make sense be a lost media, no one remembers because is NOT a video-game at all, is pre-school theme and is in Japonese... But, i kinda like it! Good work finding it!
so idk if you'll ever see this but thanks for the videos I watched when I was in middle school igniting my love for Pokémon (at that point Pokémon was no longer "cool" so I didn't have anyone to talk to about it) I have now played and beaten ever single game, memorized almost all of the Pokémon's names prior to Scarlett/violet and still love the franchise to death. I used to watch your videos on my 2ds in between play sessions of Pokémon X. Thanks for the fun memories! Awesome to see your still making content!
I think the best way to rip the sound from it would be looking for a cartridge kit from the makers of the book and see if that exists somewhere, though I find it unlikely you'll find something that obscure at a reasonable price that actually works and has the manuals and such.
I love the idea of Vessis, unfortunately they do not come in half sizes or in wide and are really expensive, meaning I would have to hope that they fit. My big toe is really spread apart from my other toes which are squished together so I have to have a wide shoe, I can deal with no half-sizes, but the no wide shoes are a dealbreaker for me because they would just hurt.
Watching this video while unboxing my latest batch of Pinky St. impulse purchases, which themselves are not usually expensive but definitely hard to find specific parts of, so this absolutely resonated with me. I actually found out that I had some lost media myself when looking up lost media, except concerning Pinky St. rather than Pokemon, so I was ecstatic to be able to upload those and make them found media again. Uploaded on two different sites by myself, maybe posted elsewhere by others now, but it was amazing being able to help. This year alone I have been able to get my hands on some 2004 and 2012 merch that was only available in person for a single day in Japan so that's also exciting! Hope you enjoy your own unusual and rare find, and man the LeapFrog was a blast from the past.
I relate SO hard to this. I'm in a similar quest for a piece of lost media for Megaman that admittedly is not going to blow anyone's mind but I want to find and share it anyways!

i think im living through you with the Autistic Urge To Collect (im still in school and dont have a job ;w;)
I REMEMBER THE LEAP PAD, my dad sold it for gambling funds.
Your videos are getting better and better I’m so happy for you I hope you get a lot of support
rare to find a place thats not been ravaged by scalpers
I don’t know how to explain this, but at 9:29 when you pressed the button, the literal exact moment you did the lights in my house went out and came back on
Congrats for the find.
Well for a while we thought the gold and silver beta was lost forever but it turned up.
Anything is possible now.
So wild that you found the game in Stewarton, that’s like, less than half an hour away from me lol. I guess now I know that there’s a really cool retro game shop there too now though so that’s awesome
as a collector this was so inspiring. im always so scared to travel for the goods 😅 easily my favorite video of yours!!
This channel is a rare and obscure amazing experience! An absolute gem! Keep up these amazing vids, Evie!
I would be cool to not only digitalize the contents of the cartrigde, but also make a digital version of the game, so people could just experience it from the confort of their home :D
I'm not the most experienced dev, but it would be a cool project and a chance to learn stuff
@@whilenya4714 Darn, that is a shame, it would have been so cool to see
Can’t wait to watch this I love lost media!
Me too
Mee tooo
This was a great thing to watch. Pokemon and lost media? YES PLEASE!
11:19 Lost your accent there for a few seconds 😂
I love how you put the word, "lost" in all caps in the title! It adds more flavour! LOL
omg this is soo incredibly cute for the love of lost media and media preservation, take some high-quality pictures and scans of the book and try to rip the cartridge, someone mustttt have some knowledge about this particular device.
You're like a real Pokemon trainer! Hunting down this rare species of Pokemon and traveling to an entire different region/country in order to get it.
Only instead of it being a Pokemon it's a Pokemon Game.
Also 5:32 is that a secret Kyepha reference? OwO
if you have to ask that then the answer is usually yes LOL
this is my comfort channel. as a little kid you inspired me to shiny hunt! i saw your shiny compilation and i thought pokemon platinum was the best game to hunt because you used it a lot. most channels i watched as a little kid i didnt like and got cringy to me but you will always be apart of my childhood. thank you :)
It cant be stated strongly enough how absolutely adorable 10:30 is. That pause killed me 😂
I'm imagining having her as a Roommate, where I'm just relaxing and she barges into the flat with a armful of plushies and one edutainment game that she then proceeds to play with genuine happiness.
Adorable, everyone needs that level of whimsy in their life
Amazing finding Lucy, sure, is not groundbreaking media but is unique and with a lot of nostalgia value. Well done 👍
I've been watching you for years and your uncompromising dedication still brings me immense joy. banger video
Definitely making a pilgrimage to Stewarton next time I'm up beyond the wall! That place looks amazing!
Rant over!
This makes me wanna do my own adventure looking for lost pokemon edutainment games for babies in Scotland
This is awesome. It would be super cool to realize you are that close to something unique. I'm always amazed when people find something new, well, not new but that I haven't heard of.
9:36 I remember doing this to my 3DS cartridges. I still do it.
So for extracting the audio:
There MAY be a device for dumping the ROM itself, but it seems unlikely.
A simple solution, though, is to open up the leap pad, disconnect the speaker wires from the speakers, and wire those up to a headphone jack. You could then plug that into the mic input and record them directly.
A true archaeologist of Pokemon games. What a queen
Man, those LeapFrog sounds are giving me a WHOLE lotta nostalgia.. 😭
I didn’t expect that “GO” whoosh sound to hit me THAT hard. 💔
This is so random but also kinda wholsome that this random game brought you this much joy .
Honestly, if I was told "oh yeah, lost media is most often recovered in Scotland" I would believe it. The towns of Scotland just feel like a place where time hits a crawl.
Your cat is so freaking adorable !😻
2:59 seeing that reminded me of a similar thing by sister and I used to play and learn with. After a few searches I found one complete and in great condition x'D
Thank you for this travel to the past, Evie.
Not really lost media, but maybe you can do a video on discontinued Pokémon games such as Pokémon Duel for mobile devices or games for console that were once announced, but never came to fruition or something, and they were just lost to time. Who knows, you might find some hidden gems that not much, if anyone has ever played.
I mean discontinued stuff kinda *becomes* lost media really! It’s really sad how much awesome stuff just disappears like that
I think it's because of how large this franchise is that there's so much lost media.
Its blue and i think it has a holographic lucario on the back
9:05 I’m convinced he said murder
7:45 Whenever I see Glaceon getting love, I must press the like button.
Ooh! Are you gonna maybe make a Bulbapedia page for this? It'd be nice to have some online archival outside of just the video
if you want to get the soundtrack off it, you can mod the leapfrog, it's not that tricky if you can solder but if not, maybe a good idea contacting a youtuber like "lookmumnocomputer" plus i kinda like the idea of a video where you're walking around his museum (this museum is not obsolete) if the dude can make a furby synth, he can mod a leapfrog.
It crazy how you can fine lost game in such a big franchise
Make sense be a lost media, no one remembers because is NOT a video-game at all, is pre-school theme and is in Japonese... But, i kinda like it! Good work finding it!
Love this video! More videos of this style would be great! 👏👏👏 lost media is so interesting
so idk if you'll ever see this but thanks for the videos I watched when I was in middle school igniting my love for Pokémon (at that point Pokémon was no longer "cool" so I didn't have anyone to talk to about it) I have now played and beaten ever single game, memorized almost all of the Pokémon's names prior to Scarlett/violet and still love the franchise to death.
You know it’s a good day when CandyEvie uploads.
Only Evie can make a video about a game of learning how to count actually entertaining 😂
Yeah!!!
Really enjoyed learning about obscure pokemon games, and I really enjoyed the video
OMG Lucy's commentary on this basic pre-school game is so funny! 🤣
(Vessi ad plays) oh nice, candyevie got sponsored.
@5:05...They're lightweight and...WHAT?!?
Breathable? Just means more air can get in them
@@Bvbble73 submissive too
The nostalgia I get from the leap pad sounds, is immaculate.
That shop would make me so broke. {Lugia figure is a good round boy.}
I'm feeling so nostalgic! I had so many leap pad games/books as a kid. It's so cool you found such a rare Pokémon one!
Same
I relate SO hard to this. I'm in a similar quest for a piece of lost media for Megaman that admittedly is not going to blow anyone's mind but I want to find and share it anyways!
I aspire to be as dedicated as you. MAD respect.
CandyEvie- I found a lost Pokemon game.
Me at 7:05- IS THAT A KAMEN RIDER TOY!?
I think my priorities are askew.
Yeah, we have lots of bits like that in the shop :)
