YT algorithm giving me this vid is great 'cus "Why is this perfectly normal mon in a masterball" is genuinely one of my favourite parts of Wonder Trade. Still thinking about the Slowpoke I got that was apparently too powerful to be contained.
Magnezone has been a favorite Pokémon of mine since I was little, but for some reason I always thought it was too hard to get? So I never tried. But then I got a level 40 Magneton in a masterball from wondertrade and was so happy. I looked up how to evolve it, did it, and now I have a Magnezone in a masterball. Why is it in a masterball? Idk but I think it makes it cool plus it’s got an M on it like it stands for Magnezone. Masterballs always make me think of Magneton now.
I typically play the game and think "I have to save this masterball", don't end up using it and just chucking it at the next encounter. So that may be where these masterball pokémon come from.
I actually picked up a Magnemite from you on a Wondertrade the other day - currently working my way through the whole series ... again! Tucked it aside alongside wondertrades I've picked up from three other poketubers in case it was legit. Into my faves it goes! :D
@@mattneal4309 I've been revisiting my old copies of Alpha Sapphire, White 2, and Moon. And I have an opened but new copy of Pokemon Sun that I got for Christmas 2016 from my dead dad
This was such a fun watch!!!!! Glad to see you were also a coiler back in the day. Loved seeing the full breakdown of everything you received and how you tried it out in all 3 gens! The magic of Wonder Trade is so captivating - I'll be thinking about the story of that Lv. 100 Swellow named Wesley for days now LOL I want to say I had very similar results in terms of what the most common trades were, but ultimately I ended up with more Zigzagoon/Pooches than Magikarp in my Wonder Trades, but that's probably because I was confined to gen VI.
Even though I don't play Pokemon that much, but Wonder Trading is really exciting because you have no idea what you're gonna get! (it's nice to see you on here)
You coiled too?? That’s wild, just imagine if we’d somehow traded magnets back in the day haha Yeah that makes a lot of sense, I got tons of Magikarp in Ultra Moon so that bumped it up a lot. Do not worry Wesley is in safe hands and will be lovingly cared for 🥺
"Oh Zorua was one of the Unova pokemon I got the most of" Me, who probably dumped a good few dozen Zoruas on the Wonder Trade circuit while breeding for a 5IV in X and Y: *sweats* (If any of those 4 has the Original Trainer being from a "Théodore" in Kalos that was my X Nuzlocke save I've converted into a breeding save, whoops.)
I once got a shiny shuppet over wonder trade that I'm pretty sure was legit as well. Was 4IV, correct nature, looked freshly hatched. I think they didn't realise it was shiny as the shiny colour is so similar to the standard colour. I was quite happy when I realised it looked wrong.
The magnamite coil is the closest we'll ever get to true peace between Pokemon players. Not even summer 2016 could beat how we all came together and helped each other out
Man, in Ultra Moon I used to wonder trade, my lot of Pokémon after breeding for a shiny and send off thirty of them and get back thirty random 'Mons. I got a good few legendaries too. Totally fun.
you getting the shiny seadra reminds me of the time i accidentally wonder traded my first shiny pokemon. it was a tentacruel that i named "SHINY". it was also level 100 becuase i cherished that thing and trained it all the way up. so someone out in the universe got a level 100 tentacruel named SHINY. they probably thought it was hacked lol ;-;
No, probably they didn’t. If they looked at ivs, evs, nature and moveset they probably thought “someone got a shiny and was really excited but what is this trash”
My first ever shiny in my first Pokémon game was a shiny Weedle in X, probably around 20 minutes after starting my save file. I caught it and evolved it into a Beedrill, but I didn’t know what to do with it and I didn’t know about Pokémon Bank so I purposely sent it away into Wonder Trade to be free. I ended up deleting that save file anyway so I could play the game again so the Beedrill was saved from a horrible fate. Maybe one day (if Weedle is actually in the newer games-) I’ll hunt another shiny of it in honor of my first ever official shiny Pokémon c:
One good thing is that even if it gets shut down, someone in the 3ds community might bring it back like people did for the wii. I really hope nintendo doesn’t shut it down but it might still be saved.

The reason you got so many league winning pokemon is that if some doesn't have a place to store their pokemon (ie another game or pokemon home) they will wonder trade their core team so they don't disappear when they reset their game.

Best memories of wonder trading was when I was breeding tons of Scatterbugs in Pokémon X. I would breed boxes and boxes of Scatterbugs and then do Scatterbug for Scatterbug trades over the GTS in hopes for a really good rarer Vivillon pattern. If it was a common pattern I would Wonder Trade it and if it was rare I would keep it or trade it for legendaries on the GTS if I had that pattern already. It was such an effective strategy to get legendaries. I got so much fun stuff out of Wonder Trade and hey sometimes I got more Scatterbugs to evolve into Vivillon.
Im french and, when you have a pokemon called Bon Toutou, its not a funny name Example : you say to a people to got something for you,and you call it Bon Toutou Bon Toutou is like a synonym to slave for us (sorry for bad english :/ )
Honestly after watching this video I am at awe of how you analyzed the information you gathered as someone who had to do statistic analysis for multiple classes, there is so much information in the info gathered
I did a wonderlock for my first play through of X. I received my favorite Pokémon of all time: Popcorn the Minccino. It had Skill Link as its ability which I had never seen before then. Every game since then I would transfer the decendent of Popcorn as my starter for the new games. Popcorn, Popcorn Jr, Popcorn lll, Popcorn lV, and finally Popcorn V. I hope I’ll be able to continue the tradition in the future. Thanks to whoever sent me the original Popcorn!
I like to think that the ones with more history came from players who grew bonds with them, but didn’t want them to just be stuck with them after they were done with their journey, so they sent their companion out into the world to have new adventures with millions of other trainers around the globe.
Been doing a wonderlocke in Sword, and Surprise Trades keep giving me amazing Pokémon with almost perfects IVs and Natures, like Scorbunny, Gibble, Dreepy or my starter, Falinx. Also Rip Gabite the Gabite I didn’t know the team yell grunt had counter
If you needed a Lunatone because you were playing Omega Ruby, you needed to trade someone a level Female Bag Icon with a gender requirement of Ace Trainer
@@ungibungi520 I have seen that actually. And also people trading “impossible shinies” (like Dawn/Dusk form Necrozma) on USUM GTS and wanting Snivy in exchange and then the game crashes when you try to trade the Snivy. Warning to NEVER trade with the player AdventureSnivy (I think that’s the name).
That sorta happened to me. I had a shiny Dwebble and someone wanted to trade their black Hippowdon for it. Having skipped Gen 4, I didn't realize I wasn't getting a shiny and poor HermitRock was lost. Hopefully the person I traded it to took good care of it!
Happened to me a few times. I just quickly put my DS on sleep, which disconnects it from the live internet link with the servers. Happened more times than I'm willing to admit 😅
in let’s go eevee I had a shiny caterpie and while I was only joking about trading it I accidentally did and my let’s go eevee shinies were usually extremely hard to find. so I just sat there looking at what I did. luckily that was just a spare shiny but still sorta tragic
I always liked to wondertrade some breeding leftovers and hope for other fully or semi-bred pokemon which I could then use as a base for further breedings.
I remember when I accidentally pressed wonder trade in Ultra Sun and then closed my 3DS. A few minutes later, I opened it back up and saw that I received a lvl 100 shiny Arceus with a special medal from another game. I freaked out.
I’ve played a LOT of attempted Nuzlockes, most of them didn’t go well, and I always wonder trade my dead Pokémon instead of releasing or boxing them. I like to think of it as reincarnation.
Random Story! In Pokemon X, I got a Magnemite from wonder trade, and they had perfect IVs in areas my Ditto didn't. So I breeded them in hopes for a 6 IV Magnemite. I didn't notice at the time, but the Magnemite and Ditto were from different places in the world. I got a shiny in the 5th egg, I'm pretty sure. That was my first ever shiny, too! Nebula the Magnezone is still in my Pokemon X file.
This is super interesting to see. I've gotta say that there are definitely some legit shinies out there on wonder trade though, I've sent out 15 or so of them myself. I'm often breeding for a shiny with a hidden ability or something specific and the ones that don't make the cut get sent out to make someone's day.
Here's something neat, while wonder trading I got a level 50 Pelipper. I loved this Pelipper and I breezed through half of Sword And Shield with him. I still keep him on my team out of respect. I don't think anyone would care, just thought it was neat.
You can score some really amazing Pokémon in Surprise Trade! I landed a handful that have helped me progress through the game much easier than if I hadn’t gotten them. I’ve even found a few legit shinies - definitely gotten a few hacks, though 😭
Hello! I was actually one of the Wonderlocke accounts you mentioned, since I had one of your magnemites! Didn't make it all the way unfortunately, but it was a huge help on my playthrough!! So thank you for the help! 💛
This really takes me back. No lie, my first ever wondertrade in pokemon sun was a level 100, EV trained, competitive moveset shiny haxorus. I mean yeah, its most likely hacked, but still, that was fucking nuts. Still the most insane wondertrade I've ever done to this day.
Funny story: On pokemon home I was wondertrading for fun and I actually got a legit shiny swaddloon from the gen 6 days. (I also managed to get a legit shiny magikarp from wonder trade from ultra moon)
ah yes a wonder trade. it can do things such as: caterpie for weedle meowth for persian arceus for buizel palkia for dialga and pretty much anything you can think of
When I was Masuda Methoding Squirtle, I’d always trade the newly-hatched non-shinies because I didn’t want to realease them via Home. Just in case there was someone who liked squirtle as much as me.
I Wonder Trade all the time. My favorite one was from a few years ago: a shiny Arceus nicknamed Howie Mandel and later on another shiny Arceus nicknamed Britney Spears. I still have them both and they make me laugh.
I wonder trade off random people's left behind pokemon from random saves files of games I buy before restarting, which is why you may end up with them from me also of you ever come across someone called "Owl" as a trainer name there is a small chance that it's me.
Actually now I think about it, that granbull has been knocking around on wonder trade for about a year, pretty certain that I had it and retraded it before.
It'd be really interesting to compare the most wondertraded Pokemon to where they are found in the wild of each game. You could map out where the majority of players catch their wondertrade fodder haha. Expose us all lol
ive got a lot of shinies through the home gts, the most interesting is a level 1 japanese deino, hatched in 2011, from the unova region, it was so wild
This is crazy… over the last 2 years I’ve been doing this EXACT same thing and recording each trade on Pokémon home to record the results. I just finished this past week. Wonder if we ended up catching each other over the 1k wonder trades!
Love this. Something I was a bit disappointed by is that legendaries and mythical cant be “surprise” traded in SwSh. Really ruins some of the magic. This is something I’ve always wanted to do but would take a lot of time doing so. Surprised at how often Kanto showed up, I would think the three games in which you wonder traded on would yield the most pokemon.
I bred zigzag ions in sun/moon as revenge for ORAS when that was almost all you could get through wonder trade. The best part was that zigzagoon wasn’t in the alola dex so you can’t complain about getting too many.
Magnemite is my favorite Pokemon so it makes me absurdly happy to see it getting featured in this video 💖 I've read about Magnemite coiling before but only after the Gen 5 GTS was shut down, so it's really neat to see someone who actually participated in that! Fun fact, the term "Magnemite coil" is actually a pun on Magnemite's Japanese name, Coil 😊
My favorite thing about wonder trading was when competitive breeders would occasionally wonder trade out their rejects. I remember the very first time I wonder traded on X I got a perfect EV Gibble and I damn near shat myself
@@irmatroll I got into competitive battling around gen 5. So I appreciate how much easier it's become to make a competitive team from scratch in gen 8.
@@irmatroll Well assuming you get DLC, it's easier to get moves on pokemon, easier to get hidden abilities, easier to get some key battle items, and it's overall easier to level up a team, and definitely being able to see IVs so easily helps. I'm sure there are more things, but those are the things I appreciate the most.
@@irmatroll I call myself waiting for the second version and they dropped a damn DLC. I have only had my Switch for like a year. Pretty Much every game from X/Y and up made building competitive teams easier.
I have literally done that before in a modded USUM file. i genned in 1 box full of shiny lv 100 6iv HA magicarps nicknamed ''get trolled'' with an ot of Rick Astley.
ill never forget the day i decided to wonder trade my team away because i was ending my run, only to find another person doing the same and we basically swapped teams
I've been an avid breeder since gen6 and Wondertraded THOUSANDS of mons because of it, and I can agree with the data of this empirical research with noticed results of my own - although when it comes to Hoenn mons, I've noticed a considerable surge of Ralts being the chief of trades.
I'm a little late, but I just wanted to say this while I still can; I was looking for a Magnetmite is US/UM, and accidentally found a shiny zorua. Forgot about that Magnetmite, and my team ended up being unbalanced without an electric type. Nice.
This just reminds me of how when I was younger, back when gen 6 were the most recent games, I traded away some of the only shiny pokemon I managed to get on wondertrade in hopes that it would make someone happy. Sometimes I wonder if anyone out there still has them (I don't even remember what I traded.)
The pokemon you got per gen make a lot of sense, a lot of the older gens will obviously have more of the popular pokemon in them as people try to get shiny version of those pokemon, while gen 8 is almost exclusively early route pokemon since it is still relatively new by comparison
Despite the sample size only being 1000 those stats actually make sense; like the lack of Sinnoh might be cause by the lack of gen 4 Pokemon available in swsh making that game an outlier. A lot of those Pokemon are also either route 1 mons or popular in competitive, like litten, which might make those ones breeding rejects
I still have my Slurpuff I requested from the Sun GTS in my copy of Shield. Lv. 100, Shiny, had Unburden, and had the moveset of Play Rough, Drain Punch, Belly Drum, and Aromatherapy. Definitely hacked but I don’t care.
So because of these videos you have inspired me to trade unnamed Pokémon I’ve received to Shield, name them, then Wondertrade them. They deserve names! THEY DESERVE PERSONALITIES

Idk but I think it makes it cool plus it’s got an M on it like it stands for Magnezone. Masterballs always make me think of Magneton now.
When I was a child, I wasted the only(?) Masterball in HG for a Ditto (and I didn't catch Ho-Oh first try), so I guess I can understand it lol

The magic of Wonder Trade is so captivating - I'll be thinking about the story of that Lv. 100 Swellow named Wesley for days now LOL
I want to say I had very similar results in terms of what the most common trades were, but ultimately I ended up with more Zigzagoon/Pooches than Magikarp in my Wonder Trades, but that's probably because I was confined to gen VI.
Even though I don't play Pokemon that much, but Wonder Trading is really exciting because you have no idea what you're gonna get! (it's nice to see you on here)

One good thing is that even if it gets shut down, someone in the 3ds community might bring it back like people did for the wii. I really hope nintendo doesn’t shut it down but it might still be saved.

I did a wonderlock for my first play through of X. I received my favorite Pokémon of all time: Popcorn the Minccino. It had Skill Link as its ability which I had never seen before then. I hope I’ll be able to continue the tradition in the future. Thanks to whoever sent me the original Popcorn!

Sometimes I wonder if anyone out there still has them (I don't even remember what I traded.)
You're good soul
The pokemon you got per gen make a lot of sense, a lot of the older gens will obviously have more of the popular pokemon in them as people try to get shiny version of those pokemon, while gen 8 is almost exclusively early route pokemon since it is still relatively new by comparison
Despite the sample size only being 1000 those stats actually make sense; like the lack of Sinnoh might be cause by the lack of gen 4 Pokemon available in swsh making that game an outlier.
A lot of those Pokemon are also either route 1 mons or popular in competitive, like litten, which might make those ones breeding rejects
