    Great review of an interesting product! You might consider having off-road diesel delivered for all your equipment, it won't have highway taxes

    Good evening Brock. I have this very same unit. It is awesome. The only thing I did different was to replace the stock fuel filter with a Wix 24027 water alert fuel filter. It filters the fuel the same, but also has hydrosorb in it and will stop the flow of fuel after it catches about 8 oz of water. Thanks for sharing. Love watching your content.

    I made a video about the bigger brother to this tank a little while ago. I love mine. I’ve put about 500 gallons through it in the past 3 months and it’s been awesome so far

    Ohh that last little bit of topping off..😆. Been there done that. Can’t explain why I keep doing it.
    When I built my aluminum tank, I did the same cost comparison with the plastic version. Except 2 years ago, the plastic was back ordered for 9 months. I couldn’t wait.

    Well, no rust to worry about. Water condensation should be less too.

    I’ve had one of these tanks for a little over a year now, it’s held up really well. I placed it on a heavy duty “blue” pallet with some scrap wood screwed into the pallet around the base to keep the tank from shifting. I also keep a battery in a RV style batter box behind the tank, so when I put it back in the barn I can connect it to a battery tender, this keeps me from having to connect to a battery each time I use it.

    • @johnsalcido5436
      @johnsalcido5436 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      How did you screw it onto a blue pallet? Does the plastic tank have holes or something to bolt/screw onto? Curious because I was wanting to buy one for my personal use on the farm instead of using our service flatbed I can just put it on/off my trailer or diesel pickup truck.

    • @bigchill1532
      @bigchill1532 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @johnsalcido5436 I screwed boards to the pallet around the tank to prevent it from shifting. There's not a lot of options to tie the tank down, unfortunately.

    • @johnsalcido5436
      @johnsalcido5436 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@bigchill1532 oh okay. That’s helpful. I was planning on getting this and maybe inserting it inside one of those tote cages like a few other videos did. That way it’ll still be on a pallet and it won’t move since it’s caught up in the cage and the you just tie down the pallet/cage if needed.

    Those are great self contained tanks for sure! I’ve had one for 3 ea years now and love it.. I did how ever get a Huge laugh out of locking the plastic lid😂😂 that’s worthless and if you lock it the guy stealing the fuel will just tear up the lid and take your tank too when it’s empty!! 😂😂😂. Mine stays in the bed of my truck 24/7. If I have to haul something I just take one of my 8ea trailers from 5’x8’ all the way up to 40’ goose neck and everything in between…. Great content. Most folks don’t know about these type units. 🔥🔥👍👍

    I've seen multiple portable tanks slam right thru modern tailgates on job sites. 50 gallons X approx 8 lbs so 400 plus loaded sliding against a tailgate, yeah the gate looses and then you got a real mess to clean up. Just my 2 cents

    I think you missed a huge benefit to this unit. Its lightweight and when you empty it into your equipment you can then take it out of the back of the truck by hand and not drive around with it 24/7 like the metal ones. I dont need one in my truck every day but for the 1-2x a month I would gladly just sit it in the garage out of the way instead of leaving it back there

      I think these are more convenient and less expensive so definitely pros to it. The only negative I see is not knowing how long the tank will hold up. Seems like if you don’t drop it or anything it’s going to last a long time.

    I might go through 10-15 gallons of diesel in a year LOL. So, in my case one of those fuel totes makes no sense at all, and I don't have the fancy equipment to move it around once its full anyhow HAHA!!! I have a 5 gallon diesel can that I use...and one of those battery powered transfer pumps from Harbor Freight...works great for me....Not sure I'd really trust that plastic tank being moved around too often either, seems like it would be easy to puncture with the pallet forks.
    If I were using a lot more diesel every year, something like that would certainly be useful, but for the 10-15 gallons I use every year, its not worth it LOL.

    • @RockhillfarmYT
      @RockhillfarmYT  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Usage definitely matters. I’ve got over 1000 combined hours on the tractor and skid steer. I use more than 1 gallon per hour.
      That would estimate to maybe 350 gallons a year of diesel

    • @RockhillfarmYT
      @RockhillfarmYT  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sure. It’s not a big deal. It’s slightly more convenient having a Gauge.
      You’re not dipping a stick into the fuel tank on your equipment because they put a gauge on it
      It’s not some dramatic thing that I would spend a bunch of money on, but it is a nice feature

    Since when is a plastic fuel transfer tank “better”?

    • @RockhillfarmYT
      @RockhillfarmYT  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They’re usually pros and cons to everything. The pros that make this better is that it’s half the price and more convenient. Protected from the weather. Has a fuel gauge. Lockable. More compact.
      The negative is that tank might not last as long
      if I was buying a tank today, I would get this plastic one. If they were the same price, it would be a tough decision.

    • @OShackHennessy
      @OShackHennessy 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s not. You can make a steel 50 gallon transfer tank with pump and filter for not that much more if not the same price. And it will last a lifetime.

The reason I am bothered is that you did an episode about if you can’t afford the equipment you purchased, the tractor and skid steer. Then it seemed like 2 weeks later , you purchased the Mini that does not do anything that your other equipment can do. And in fact, you use it for stuff it’s not rated for and in such an unsafe manner. Please help me understand this purchase.
