Reverse mowing capability is what sold me on Poulan Pro. Had mine for a year now and it has been worth the cost.
Loved looking at the comments from the ppl that thought you were serious.
I just purchased the 19hp version and what a steal at $900 with the DOHC twin turbo, 4WD with 3 inch lift, Air suspension, Right Hand Drive, Pinetree air freshener, 50 inch wheels, four wheel disc brakes, five gears forward and three in reverse, undercarriage track lighting(changes red to green), and hydraulic jack stands that I use to jump tree stumps with.
The options list is impressive. Go with luxury package 4A and get the massaging and cooling bucket seats.

you can go in reverse with the deck engaged. The ignition switch has a picture of the tractor with an arrow pointing away from the tractor. Once the mower is running.. switch the key to that picture setting and reverse the mower. The blades will continue to spin

I bought a Poulan pro 19hp and I absolutely love it. It has a very small turning radius and great speed control. Yes, if you are heavy footed, it will jerk your head back. I have only two complaints.....the gas pedal is too high from the deck where your foot rests and it was a total bear getting it out of the shipping crate! It blows the clippings forcefully and is great for blowing all the pine needles off the driveway. It is loud when you engage the deck blades, but aren't they all? The ability to cut in reverse is fantastic. The steering is very tight. I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase.

I am looking at getting one of these mowers, I was wondering have you mowed any steep hills on it? does it do alright?
I only have moderate grade in my yard but the roadside is steep I cover more than my old Murray 10hp 38" . But steep I never felt comfortable on grades and that is the best I can answer you on that. JenTrac or is it named gentrac , for steep grades I say.
Honestly, the primary reason I didn't go with this model is that they completely neglected to include some trivialities like air conditioning and side-impact airbags.
I just bought me a mower like this it's real nice! good fair price too!

If you turn the key back one notch after starting, you will be able to use reverse fully.
I pointed that out to someone and their jaw dropped. Just turn the key and you can cut in reverse.

At 2:27 you say you can't go into reverse with the blades engaged. That's wrong, if you look at the icons above the key the second one shows a mower with an arrow pointing back so turn the key back to the left one click and now you can go forward and reverse with the blades engaged. At least you can with mine. Great review

Make sure you turn the key one click counter clockwise after it starts. Look for the little emblem above the key that looks lik a mower and set the key there.
Yeah, I thought it was common knowledge that if you turned the key back one notch it would mow in reverse. I've had mine for 8 years now, though mine is a slightly larger model (20hp 46")
For me, at the time it was a lack of other options. I had no way to haul one home and as I live in a rural area only one place within 10 miles of my home that offered delivery and the Poulan was the largest model they had in riding mowers there. I'm happy that I did purchase it after all this time now though and I'm still discovering new things on it. Like how if I set the parking brake lever on the lower left under the steering wheel I can get off the mower to move debris without killing the engine. Or that if I set the lever opposite it on the right that I can take my foot off the throttle and it acts as a cruise control. Weird how I've had the thing since 2010 and had never noticed that stuff before, lol.
Peter on your Poulan 42 when you increase your engine speed do your blades spin the same speed or faster

Yours has a gas and reverse peddle I'm jealous lol. Anyway why do you keep the lever all the way up when starting, I was told by my cousin not to have it all the way up but start it with it down then bring it up.

Hey bro if u want more pick up and go take a piece of string and attach it to the throttle by the carburator and when you aren't going fast enough pull the string and it will rev it I've done that to my poulan and it's great for going up hills but do not pull it when you are on the hill do it when ur on flat because if you do it on a hill you will break your tractor by flipping it 😂 dont ask how I know

If you have the parking brake on you can start the mower without having to be sitting in the seat.
Why won’t the blades engage in my poulan pro? I was just going along on the yard earlier. I disengaged the blades to reverse, and the blades never re engaged. I have half a mowed lawn. Any ideas? Thanks.
The belt may have jumped off the pulley. Turn everything off and look underneath and have someone move the blade lever back and forth to see if the belt came off.

No clutch. Just press the pedal, the harder the faster!

I have this lawnmower. I freaking hate it. From day one, this engine has been a pain in the ass to start when the temperature is below 80 or so. Full choke, no choke, it doesn’t matter. It’s almost like it floods very quickly and takes forever to get comfortable before it wants to start.

+Shelia Carlow is the transmission pin on the back pushed all the way in? On mine, there's a shiny metal wire with a loop between the rear wheels that has to be pushed in.

+P-master L-daddy do you have your throttle on choke? On the first start, you have to push it all the way to the top and then immediately lower it to the middle once it's running. You also have to have your foot depressing the brake to start it. It might go without saying but make sure you have gas in it.
Make sure the blade lever is down( not engaged) took me an hour before i realized this, smh.

Pure crap. I bought one too. First thing is the aluminum spindles. I have broke 3 and the last one I broke when I hit a tennis ball. Second is the throttle linkage held on with one of those caps you find on a kids toy wagon and when that falls off you are going NOWHERE

Those safety switches are the first thing I bypass because it's a pain in the ass to try to operate with them. I'm old school and never had those features on my old one. They are just there to babysit the stupid people who have no common and are too stupid to operate machines like this. Reverse mowing is not an option. Every mower should be able to do it.
So... you want a $1500 riding mower with a turbocharger, carbon ceramic brakes, magnetorheological shocks, and a 5 point harness... I think if you get a Porsche with a couple of weed whackers on the side... you'd come out cheaper.
