Super production. Great Orchestra, Conducter with heart immersed in the music. His face gave away every scene. The Corps de Ballet were excellent. The costumes and the sets were sumptious and colorful. The Principals were beyond any words of praise or crituque that I could give them. Tchaikovsky's music is not of this world

Только декорации в первом акте мне не нравятся - тяжеловесные, грубые, и ёлочка какая-то совсем маленькая и не праздничная...Костюмы у дам и кавалеров тоже тяжёлые и тёмные, и мрачные... There changes in this production story wise but the dancing, especially the two principals. The opera house is beautiful but there was sadness for me wondering if the venue is still, are the dancers safe. This was before Russia invaded. But I felt safe. The Arabian is always lack, the blackamoor.

If baiting by ridiculous commentary is the ONLY thing you can say to this performance which commanded close to a hundred people’s time, energy, practice, & years of training to get to this on point performance, then I feel sorry for your grandparents- your manners are non-existent & your manner disrespectful to persons of ALL color that helped create this timeless Christmas piece of ballet & musical MASTERY!
I think that “toy” is supposed to be from Africa, and was considered exotic to Russians during the era in which the story takes place. I would say the same about the Chinese dance.
Virtually unwatchabe. Do not waste your time. TH-cam puts an ad in mid-leap on some of the dances. And, there are ads about every 5 minutes. From what I am able to see, the production and dancing are top notch, but youtube needs to get someone with higher than a 5th grade education to watch and put ads only between acts.
So much for ballet being cultured. Blackface, really? For those stating that's how it's always been or "its just make," doesn't excuse it. How about this idea: if you want to represent a culture or nationality, hire a dancer with that background!! I've seen other other Nutcrackers, and never have I seen this. As for Fritz. Probably depends on if or how many boys they,ve got in the ballet school. Have seen this in various other productions, too. Same wirh the nutcracker. For a doll they need a small person. Btw. never heard complaints about Cherubino, Oktavian or Oscar being represented by a woman. So why here?
