I can afford to go but I am so blessed to be able to bring this in my own domain. It's not where you experience it's receiving the Word of God in the psalmist's minstrels who have given gifts to bless others!!!

This is outstanding. The young voices of the choir are superb, the soloists expressive. The ensemble is not too large and the pace is lively, it's perfect.
What a wonderful performance! I need to listen to The Messiah from start to finish every Christmas, and this is one performance I might revisit. Merry Christmas 2023, everyone!
Tears streaming down my face listening. Reminds me of my father who sang in our church and a choral society with my uncle . My dad passed last year , so happy my parents exposed me to this . I cant go a Christmas without the Messiah... Merry Christmas
Wow. Just Wow. When I want to hear the Messiah, I always look for the video with the biggest choir. It just goes to show what can be done with a small group of people with beautiful singing voices. This is an outstanding performance. My go to Messiah from this day forward. For anyone who is looking--don't pass up this one. Merry Christmas 2023 everyone.
I was meant to hear this, as it just began playing when I hadn't tapped it in. Miraculous, in more ways than one and a much needed reminder. Beautiful.
What a combination! The inimitable AAM under Owen Rees, together with so many talented young choristers and soloists. Exquisite diction by all which never got in the way of the beauty of the words and music. The choir was top notch. Ashley Riches is an imposing, lyrical power house of a bass; Ted Black has a beautiful but commanding tenor voice allayed with stirring emotion; Esther Brazil has an amazingly full mezzo range, rich and melodic throughout while delivered with cut glass clarity; Rowan Pierce elicited feelings of exaltation with such conviction and beauty. They were all such a pleasure to listen to.
My favorite single section or piece is the great bass recitative and aria - "Behold, I tell a mystery" and "The trumpet shall sound." I was brought to tears with the bass's performance - by the end, he was no longer singing words and notes, but delivering the prophet's message to us all - it went far beyond notes and words on the page. Bravissimo!
Brilliant rendition of this masterpiece - I'm convinced Handel was inspired to select the most appropriate words from the Holy scriptures and then set them to music of timeless power and beauty. Thank you AAM & Queens College for your most moving performance - I particularly liked the smiling female singers who clearly were letting the meaning of the words show on their faces.
I'm not getting it. It escapes me. What are these words actually appropriate for exactly please. Be kind. You don't know me. I haven't a musical cell in my brain or body. Sounds often shut me down to where I pass out. But I am trying. And, no I don't respond to to mosh pit, acid rock, punk rock, almost any music after 1990. They started doing something then that just messes with my brain.
@@Alaina420ful Not to be cruel, but perhaps you suffer from epilepsy, or some other neurological problem. At the very least, I would earnestly encourage you to get a solid medical evaluation. The resolution could be as simple as corrective exercises, or you may require more complex treatment and/or therapy. But it is better to be informed, rather than to guess. I suffered through my childhood with ADHD, and wound up a guinea pig for all sorts of medications to include Ritalin, while it was in its early stages of distribution. But with the help of God, and some wise therapists, I was able to overcome most of my disability, and went on to college, military service, and a basically very good family life. I'll leave you with this thought, and then I'll get off my soap box 🙃🙂. "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." Philippians 4:13 You do not have to go through this alone! I've always enjoyed the Messiah but this performance is sublime. What it must feel like to be able sing so beautifully. Excellent orchestra, choir, and soloists! Thank you for posting this performance for all to enjoy.

"Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world." John 1:29 - These are the words of John the Baptist, when he saw Jesus Christ approaching him. Consider the grace and authority that resided in one man whose sacrifice could erase the guiltiness of all that resided in the world. This could only be done through faith in him and acceptance of his identity and obedience to his call in one's life. As he was selfless in his giving to all mankind, so should we be selfless in our giving to him and to one another.
Having sung the Messiah as a teen, I thourghly enjoyed this present 🎁from the Queen's college plus the excellent orchestra. Lots of hard work to get such perfection. So glad I found it early Christmas morning.
I'm a Cambridge alumnus but must acknowledge the superb rendition of this Masterwork by Handel; well done all of Queens College, Oxford, who performed, and so very beautifully.
Thank you to all the musicians and instrumentalists, the Academy of Ancient Music AAM and Choir of the Queen's College, Oxford and to your conductor and benefactors. What a wonderful concert! The music went at a good pace, and the soloists were expressive and made their singing seem effortless. I have sung the alto and soprano solos and I know how much work goes into preparing them. It takes a true professional to make it such a pleasure to hear! I love this piece so much, as do so many. Merry Christmas to everyone. May there be peace on earth, goodwill to men.
This is sublime, Choir of The Queen's College! As someone else said, it is refreshing to see so many young and talented faces. Thank you for posting it! This will be my official soundtrack until Christmas.
How wonderful to hear the beautiful tribute to our Savior,Jesus Christ in Handel's inspired music. If only we would worship and praise Him all year and not just at Christmas. Christ is our Savior, our guide, our example our Friend and Advocate to our Father in Heaven. He is the greatest source of Love and Peace. I'm so grateful to Him forever
Amen, May Our Lord and God Jesus Christ Bless us all. In The Name of The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit The Only One True God as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be world without end Amen 👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️💕💕💕💕
I can well imagine Handel's Messiah is played in the throne room of Heaven. Not long to go before the Bride of Christ is taken home suddenly and to the safety of Heaven, to forever be with THE King, the Lord Jesus Christ. The judgment of God is at the door! Please, please, do not be left behind. Even at this late stage, Jesus is still saving souls of those who will come to Him in repentance of sin.
For the 7th day is the Sabbath Day. Exodus 20. And Jesus was our example. He went into the Synagogue on the Sabbath day as his custom was. Let us follow Jesus' example....not man's false day, the 1st or Sunday.
@@cherylcampbell7097 Stop writing foolishness. We celebrate the Lord's Day on Sunday as Our Lord and God Jesus Christ Rose again Bodily from the dead by the Power of His Divinity on Sunday. So now our Sabbath isn't that of the old covenant but of the New Covenant of the accomplished salvation by Our Lord and God Jesus Christ. Go learn before coming to write laughable foolishness that only betrays your ignorance and stupidity. What a shame.
This is the best performance of the Messiah I have ever heard. The exceptional work of the choir and soloists just cannot be measured. EVERY WORD IS DICTION PERFECT. There was absolutely no words lost. One could absolutely transcribe this word for word from this performance. The orchestra was also fantastic. I wish this was on a recording.
Breathtaking! This work is such a jewel, but when you have a performance like this, the result is overwhelming. The chorus and orchestra were transparent and articulate with a wonderful Baroque bounce in their interpretation... and the soloists outstanding.
Love Handel's Messiah, Water Music..and BACH.Bach composed for GOD ALMIGHTY. Oh wow Hallelujah Chorus...awesome I truly love this whole video..There's nothing more one can say about Oxford, Cambridge Baroque Concerts. Love so.many UK stuff..from a big fan across the POND!! And the young boy's choirs from the church...!!
What a solid and thoroughly enchanting performance by one and all, you all are wonderful and have truly done Handel justice. Thank you very much for this. Merry Christmas from Brooklyn , New York !
I have revisited this recording several times. Each time, my enjoyment of the performances increases. The synchronization of orchestra, choral singers and soloists is extraordinary. I have listened to Handel's Messiah so many times, each musical section is programmed into my brain. Each time I listen to those sections, I experience some kind of endorphin pleasure . So I guess Handel's composition is kind of like a drug A healthy and natural one I might add.
It is true! he gives himself completely to the music, at the service of the sound and of the notes, unaware of himself, with a deep emotion in his eyes... I fell in love! 😁
If there is anything of civilization that needs to be preserved through the ages, it is this. What a testament to all that is best and highest in creation! Thank you for a transcendent experience.
My parents would always play the entire Messiah on records each Christmas season. I now have it imprinted as a childhood memory although most other details of childhood have evaporated from conscious memory. Such richness! This alone made me an 18th century artistic enthusiast and historian.
This is indeed one of the most gratest classic music ever composed. When l heard this marvelous music, l feel heaven very close to me. Haendel is brillance and l'm sure god put his hands on him when he composed this wonderful masterpiece
Yes, the greatest, most 'soul quenching' work of music ever. Anyone who has performed in this work will testify to feeling uncannily uplifted for some time afterwards
I suspect that for many of them, this was their first experience of the work. This gives it a great sense of freshness and discovery both to them, and us, the listeners. Aided by superb production values.
AMEN 🙏 All glory and praise to Our Sovereign Lord of all. Mighty king. Thank you 😊 Peace be with you. AMEN 🙏 🙏 🙏 HALLELUJAH. Thanks for another blessed year.Your humble servant. ❤❤❤❤ ❤❤❤❤ ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I’ve never heard anyone get the ending of All we Like Sheep so crisp and so moving. “The iniquity of us all” is so hard to sing, yet these singers made it sound so natural and effortless.
The bass on "nations rage" was sufficiently peeved at the nations in their foolishness, and really nailed it. Honestly excellent across the board. It felt like every participant really honored the piece, no errors in the entirety that I heard. A number of times the altos just hit so perfectly there was only one voice, and the tenors did so as well, though the altos really stole it for me. No err from the musicians. All around, lovely, absolutely lovely! Earned standing ovation, absolutely!
Rowan Pierce has such perfect diction as well as being a great singer. There is just no ambiguity over any vowel or consonant so that you can understand perfectly every word she sings.
Fantastic performance! Really appreciated the soloists' expressiveness and command of their respective parts. Such a rich and powerful masterpiece. Soli Deo Gloria.
Yes, this man has a great and powerful voice and such a big mouth to project is so beautifully. I thought Ashley is a girls name¿ Excellent performance.
Sadly I disagree. His voice has "edges" on it, a sharpness which is unnecessary, and as a result a comparative lack of depth. The performance itself is masterful, and the "youth" of the sound of young people is totally refreshing.
@@denekaraus8592 Besides the trumpet fail in the Hallelujah! I played in a college orchestra as Second Chair Clarinet. This about the type of performance I would expect from a youth choir. Nice, but? 😁
It is many years since I enjoyed a full performance of Handel's Messiah, but I found this by chance as I was browsing TH-cam today. What an absolute joy! The choir, orchestra and individual soloists were magnificent. I was totally immersed in the words and music, just eight days before Christmas Day, which is also my 80th birthday. I've always considered it a privilege to have been born on the day the Christian Church celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ!
What a great delight at any season. This is the most insightful and thoughtful performance I've heard in a long time. Wonderful shaping and dramatic musical organization throughout, all supported by terrific soloists. Just wonderful.
Magnificent performance, and extra points for whoever thought it would be a good idea to stand that giant tenor next to the miniature alto on the front row. Really satisfied my sense of proportion :)

Sounds often shut me down to where I pass out. But I am trying. And, no I don't respond to to mosh pit, acid rock, punk rock, almost any music after 1990. They started doing something then that just messes with my brain.

Not to be cruel, but perhaps you suffer from epilepsy, or some other neurological problem. This includes a wonderful wife of over 35 years, 3 awesome grown children, & 5 unbelievably cute grandchildren ➕️ #6 on the way. PRAISE GOD! I'll leave you with this thought, and then I'll get off my soap box 🙃🙂.
"I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."

"The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him."
Nahum 1:7
May The Lord bless & help you.
I've always enjoyed the Messiah but this performance is sublime. What it must feel like to be able sing so beautifully. Excellent orchestra, choir, and soloists! Thank you for posting this performance for all to enjoy.
This is the greatest symphonic piece ever written.
Stunning performance. It's been my family's tradition to play Handel's Messiah at Christmas gatherings since I can remember. So moving. Thank you.
This will quench the dryness of Your soul
Beautifully put!
How beautiful! everyone in the choir so young with amazing voices.
Whatever language you may use, that's a universal masterpiece, bravo
Wonderful and it brought tears to my eyes thinking of what the Lord did for us❣️
Amen. Merry Christmas
You mean what Handel did for us!
*_ALL, HONOR, PRAISE, PEACE, POWER, HOLY MIGHT, LOVE, BLESSING, GRACE AND GLORY TO OUR MOST PERFECT HOLY HIGH GOD JEHOVAH AND HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON YESHUA HA-MASHIACH, JN_**_3:16_**_-19 AMEN!_*
@@jamessutton9323 You evidently don't understand what the person who said that, means! 😢
There's not enought words to describe how this presentation is. Simply DIVINE. Very very grateful to watch and hear it. Thank you all.
This concert has Biblical truths. Praise God. Hallelujah. Amen.
yes these are all bible verses 😊
Simply superb. A glimpse of Heaven. These young people did an admirable job.
Those young voices sounds heavenly. Thanks God those youngs offer themselves to learn and keep this amazing work living.
Amen!
Wow that tenor on "Comfort Ye"! Great artistry, wonderful diction, beautiful tone, superior performance!
One of the best performances of this work that I have heard!
Brilliant performance, can listen to it over and over again!
Love that humanity can sing "Hallelujah" in the midst of masks, shutdowns and sorrow for many. The audience response is priceless.
I am sure that everyone who listens to this, can appreciate what a genius looks like
This is sublime, Choir of The Queen's College! As someone else said, it is refreshing to see so many young and talented faces. Thank you for posting it! This will be my official soundtrack until Christmas.
An object lesson in diction and precision. Thank you very much.
Thank you for making this available to a worldwide audience. Possibly my favorite rendition of this inspired work.
Randomly found this on a search & I'm glad I did. Beautifully done!
The alto 👌 can actually understand the words she is singing also. Beautiful tone.
I sometimes wonder if the singer knows Jesus. She sings as if she knows him. I love the voices of the other soloist, but wonder if they know Him.
It’s funny you should say that because she is in fact a priest.
Incredible performance of "I Know That My Redeemer liveth"! Rowan Pierce's soprano solo was heavenly! Thank you!!!!
He invites us to come and remember His Sabbath...the 7th day of each week, which is Saturday. He also invites us to worship him everyday.
So beautiful, brings me tears of joy! Merry Christmas everyone! King of Kings.
TO GOD ALONE BE ALL THE GLORY. Handel Proved that Jesus is The Messiah. Hallelujah. What worthwhile wonderful works was.
It was such a privilege to be there. The best performance of The Messiah I have ever heard. Thank you for a beautiful start to Christmas this year.
Ulrike, you were truly blest to attend this superb performance!
The best performance I have saw and heard on my IPad . So clear. (Sorry for my wrong English). Dank je wel!
✨🙏🏽✨😍💖
What a solid and thoroughly enchanting performance by one and all, you all are wonderful and have truly done Handel justice. Thank you very much for this. Merry Christmas from Brooklyn , New York !
Westchester, NY here listening 😊 Merry Christmas
This is an expensive gorgeous performance of Handel's Messiah! Simply excellent!! Great job and God bless you all.
Expensive? Do you mean the ticket price, the professional's fees, or the recording? This TH-cam performance is free
Ashley Riches performance was absolutely sublime. Most bass/baritone renditions are good but his was the best I have yet heard!
It is true! he gives himself completely to the music, at the service of the sound and of the notes, unaware of himself, with a deep emotion in his eyes... I fell in love! 😁
THE GREATEST MUSICAL COMPOSITION OF ALL TIMES !!!
If there is anything of civilization that needs to be preserved through the ages, it is this. What a testament to all that is best and highest in creation! Thank you for a transcendent experience.
Never gets old! Beautifully and perfectly done! Bravo!
I particularly enjoyed the enthusiastic and lively performance of the choir.
Glory to God in the Highest! This was magnificent. Goosebumps.
Beautiful and wonderfully reassuring to see so many talented young people! Thank you all!

I suspect that for many of them, this was their first experience of the work. This gives it a great sense of freshness and discovery both to them, and us, the listeners. Aided by superb production values.
A God-honouring rendition of Handel's masterpiece depicting the Messiah's lowly birth, life, suffering, death and resurrection!
I am so impressed
with the alto soloist
in the red dress.

Best Messiah ever! Thank You!!!
Beautiful! Glory to God for His unspeakable gift of Jesus Christ!
Rowan Pierce has such perfect diction as well as being a great singer. There is just no ambiguity over any vowel or consonant so that you can understand perfectly every word she sings.
Handel is a great Alchemist of the Baroque music
The depths of Handel’s diversity is immeasurable
Fantastic performance! Really appreciated the soloists' expressiveness and command of their respective parts. Such a rich and powerful masterpiece. Soli Deo Gloria.
I absolutely LOVE the incredibly rich voice of the bass/baritone Ashley Riches! I've never heard the Messiah's baritone solos done better.
My favourite is the bass soloist :)

Interesting!
😁
@@denekaraus8592
Besides the trumpet fail in the Hallelujah! I played in a college orchestra as Second Chair Clarinet. This about the type of performance I would expect from a youth choir. Nice, but?
😁
THIS NEVER GETS OLD! PRAISE GOD!
The bass soloist is extraordinary 👏🏼👏🏼❤️
This is an awesome rendition of the Messiah - WONDERFUL❤
Thank you for posting this my wife and I just had a wonderful 2 hours watching and listening
Brilliant
It is many years since I enjoyed a full performance of Handel's Messiah, but I found this by chance as I was browsing TH-cam today. What an absolute joy! The choir, orchestra and individual soloists were magnificent. I was totally immersed in the words and music, just eight days before Christmas Day, which is also my 80th birthday. I've always considered it a privilege to have been born on the day the Christian Church celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ!
Beauty, hope and truth in glorious harmony !
Amen to those 7 wise words!!
Listening to the beauty of young voices collaborating with the mature soloists' voices inspires all of us.
Beautifully done all around. Excellent and elegant “Comfort ye” and “O thou that tellest”. None of the usual stodginess. Bravi!
One of the best interpretations that I have listened to. Thank you all the musicans on stage. You were all wonderful1.
人の声に、歌に、合唱に救われました。温かい。心が解放されました。
Glory be to God in the highest.
From Holland with love & great admiration for the way you all perform this eternal piece of praise to God! Thank you very much! 🌷
What a great delight at any season. This is the most insightful and thoughtful performance I've heard in a long time. Wonderful shaping and dramatic musical organization throughout, all supported by terrific soloists. Just wonderful.
What a beautiful rendition! Clear words, pure tones, loved the harpsichord. The soloist were wonderful! I will tune in again to this! Thank you!
What a PERFECT and exquisitely beautiful performance, in EVERY aspect of this extraordinary work!
We would go to the Handel Messiah’s performance every christmas holidays ❤
Beautifully done and so uplifting. Thank you.
Magnificent performance, and extra points for whoever thought it would be a good idea to stand that giant tenor next to the miniature alto on the front row. Really satisfied my sense of proportion :)
😀 Brilliant performance!
Love comes in all sizes, doesn't it?😄
A brilliant performance of a masterpiece👏🏼 with love from The Netherlands
Lovely. This renewed my faith in humanity. Beautifully sung, beautiful smiles.
That solo at 1:34:00 is one of the most stunning I've heard in my life! Psalm 2! Sing it angry young man, I love it!!!
