So true. This is an epic performance capturing the highpoint of this great bands live abilities (IMHO). So glad this is here. But more people should know its here.

I saw Queensryche a few months later in a small club in Baltimore MD . Jan 85 . Had a barstool at a balcony overlooking the stage on the side . Degarmo might have been 10 feet away . I couldn't have dreamed of better seating . Kinda felt the band was all mine that night. $5.00 at the door and maybe 150 people in all . My buddy told me they were playing Hammerjack's tonight so I went.. During Take Hold of The Flame . Geoff climbed up and took my hand and we both watched Degarmo together during his lead . I can still remember the look on Chris's face . He looked concerned " Dude , Please don't push our singer off " He never missed a note and when Geoff got back on the stage and the song ended . Chris looked at me and smiled and I could read his lips . Thanks ! . The absolute amazing thing that night was how tight they were . I couldn't believe it was real. It was magical . My buddy that told me Queensryche was playing that night. Was also at the time my bandmate / bass player . I left the band but my buddy Keith would go on to play on that same stage years later . He went on to become the bass player for Iced Earth in 96 and is on Iced's Earth's Dark Saga album . He passed away in 2022 and his brother posted a memorial for him on TH-cam . In one of his pics . It was my buddy Keith and Geoff together . Thought I'd share .

My 1st concert was Iron Maiden on their World Slavery Tour Jan 1985 at Radio City Music Hall in NYC. I was 16 yrs old. Twisted Sister was opening for Maiden on this tour, but not in NYC - maybe because it was their home turf? Anyway I remember being disappointed because they were big at the time with "We're not gonna take it", etc. When I heard "Queensryche" was opening instead I was like "Who's that?". Little did I know what was in store - I was totally blown away by their performance!! What a great show with 2 of metal's greatest vocalists. Ran out and bought the "Queensryche" EP and "Warning" album the next day at "Slipped Disc" on Rockaway Ave in Valley Stream. Have been a fan ever since. This video of them in Tokyo late 1984 brings me right back to that show so many years ago when I was introduced to the greatness of Queensryche!!

I saw the same show in Toronto, November 30, 1985. I had just turned 15, 4 days prior. Twisted Sister opened. I would have preferred Queensryche to be honest.
Was my first real concert as well. What memories.

I did know Queensryche but hearing Geoff hit those notes live was insane. I have seen way over 100 great concerts of multiple genres and the Live after Death ranks high on the list. Amazing experience. Glad to share with you guys!

This performance is so tight and perfect that it's hard to believe it's even live and not prerecorded and acted like in the music videos. Queensryche is one of those few bands that are as or better technically precise live then in the studio. Iron Maiden and Judas Priest are very similar in this regard. What a show that would have been to see those 3 similar bands share a stage. Long live the Progressive Metal God's 🤘🏼❤️

My dear friend, Bob Nelson, took these guys to this first trip to Japan as their head of security . It was a great memory for him ( and he worked for lots of bands and celebrities!) . I was able to reconnect him with Geoff Tate after 40 years and it was a great reunion! So glad I was able to do that for him before he sadly passed away last night. He talked a lot about it and it truly meant a lot to him. Rest in Peace my good, good friend! I’ll always remember your “ stories from the road” ❤

    •  ปีที่แล้ว +10

Geoff Tate is still better than younger singing colleague MICHAEL KISKE even today! I have been to three Helloween concerts after KISKE return to Helloween, and it was SHIT Really scary! If Hansen and Andi Deris weren't there, it would be like a Karaoke Show! His voice is very weak today!A month ago I was at the GEOFF Tate concert in Budapest and it was an amazing show for the OPERATION MINDCRIME album! At the age of 64, he sang his compositions from his youth much better than his younger singing colleague KISKE in Helloween!

Insane some of these new pop artists can get 1.5 billion views with auto tune trash but a real majestic masterfully executed concert stays hidden for only the real ones to enjoy ❤ cheers to all who are here cranking this epic night of true metal 🎉 🍻👌

Absolutely my favorite band. I saw them in 84 with Judas Priest 87,88 90s and Geoff Tate 2014ish. Going to see Geoff again March 30th!

I got into Queensryche on the Rage for Order album. I didn't really like the Warning album or the Queen of the Reich album except for Take Hold of the Flame but now? Wow! I'm loving this!!!! I'm so sorry that I missed it then.

What has to be understood is, at this time this was nothing more than a relatively unknown opening act.
(Absolutely known by us that “discovered” them from day one)
IMO, (which is the only one that matters to me😁)
This was absolutely one of the finest bands to ever pick up instruments!
Just look at it, these guys were giants way before they ever got famous.🤘🏻

I remember seeing them open for Kiss in ‘84 during the “Animalize” tour. Totally smoked Kiss. Being 11, I didn’t realize that they would become huge after that tour. Saw ‘em again in ‘86 opening for Ozzy, and I knew then they were something different and definitely special.

I had around 50 video tapes of metal shows during the 80´s this was one of them, also operation livecrime, started to play drums after i started listen to sweet 79 when i was 15 a few years later i was in a metal band, Sweden had the most bands during this time of all countries, if u look at per capita obv, the point was it wasnt easy to make it big during this time when u had bands like Europe to compete with so our band never made it. I love that young people of today still listen to metal.
