I don't have any kids nor plan to have any but I still watched this entire video because your level of organization just speaks to me!!! The very best of luck to you! Hope you have a healthy, happy delivery!
Hey everyone!! Thanks so much for watching.. A few things I didn't get a chance to film/mention in this video were: 1) I'm still hoping to make a few little gift baskets for the nurses that help out during labor. I went through several nurses when I had Oliver (with shift changes etc), but I do love the idea of gifting a little something since they are so helpful and gracious during a rough time.. 2) I bought a gift for Oliver that will be from his baby brother, and Oliver picked out a gift for him to give to his new baby brother.. I know a lot of people recommend this, and I think it's such a sweet idea, so I decided to do it.. Oliver is super excited to give the little baby toy he picked out to his new brother, and I know he will be stoked about the gift from baby brother ;0) I'd love to hear any other recommendations.. It's so fun to hear from other moms about what worked for them.. =) Thanks again for watching
I'm not a mom yet (although i plan to be some day) but i have to say, there were so many details in this vid.... things probably lots of women don't think of until they're in the hospital Hope you have a beautiful labor and delivery!!!! blessings to your family
In my country the 6 week post partum rest is still observed. It is in no way as strict as it used to be, you dont stay in bed or home necessarily. But visitors are limited during this time to family and very close friends at most. People respect you are tired, often bring food. Baby is not taken to public spaces like restaurants or shopping malls, it is time for the family to adjust and for mum to heal. With my first we took daily walk with the pram, only family visited and it was lovely to have that time together. My husband was able to take a paid week off work as well. With this baby (I am 38 weeks) I hope it will be similar. Husband will be taking a whole week off if not more, now our government approved for paid week off for new dads so he does not have to take his annual leave. And I hope food will be arriving at our house 😃 It seriously was the best gift, my mum brought huge roast chicken with tray of stuffing and I was the best for the start of breastfeeding. Good luck Rachel! Birth is not glam but its worth it 😃 I think our baby boys will be only few days or weeks apart.....
Congrats on your baby ! 💓💓 That is also observed in Mexico, 40 days of rest, and the mothers are very precautionary about the baby as well. What country are you from 😌
This is such a helpful video! I am 17 weeks pregnant and I'm researching videos for all things baby but I never thought to make a basket for myself to help with the recovery! Super helpful! I will be praying for you and your delivery soon of your sweet baby!
Love this!!! So real and so informational, especially that squirt bottle - what a life saver!!! I wish I saw a video like this before having my son :) I wish you an easy delivery, Rachel!
Ah, Rachel, great video! It's so refreshing that you are being honest about how the reality of having a baby. All moms know it's not easy and that the body needs time to heal. Great tips!!! I will recommend your video to all the mommies-to-be!
I'm so emotional when I watching this video. I give a birth two weeks ago for the second time. Happy and proud of myself. Have a good labor. Everything is gonna be perfect. Good luck.
Not expecting but I wanted to take a look because I'm a nurse and for certain surgeries you end up staying at the hospital for a few days after. It being a planned surgery it's good to pack certain things to feel more comfortable. I love this whole idea and think it would be good for anyone planning a hospital stay
Anna M i had a csection with my first and stayed 3days in the hospital also she came early so i had nothing packed .. which was a huuuuuuge mistake lol im prego with #2 and have had my bag packed since i was maybe 6months
Isn't it wonderful how you figured out all your true necessities after the birth of Oliver? Its amazing how well prepared you are! Prayers to you and your family !
I ended up having a C-section, and highly recommend taking night gowns and a robe for the hospital stay. It was so nice to not have to worry about clothes rubbing on my incision. also, the ones that I took have almost a sports bra style top, so I didn't need a nursing bra! Another HUGE tip is to not be afraid to ask for another nurse. I had one who I didn't mesh well with. she wasn't gentle, and she didn't seem to like me. she was scheduled to be my nurse for the next two nights. i asked the next nurse on shift if I could get someone else, and it wasn't a problem at all! they totally understand, as long as you're nice about it. good luck, Rachel! and good luck to any other expecting mommas! you're going to do great! 💕💙
Music was spot on. Heat pads, the ones you peal and stick to your back helped my contractions a lot. My first son was going to be a back birth, but ended up needing an emergency C-section. Great video!
I just found your channel and THANK YOU FOR THIS ❤ I'm 33 weeks pregnant with my first baby girl and have been watching so many hospital bag videos for what to pack but yours has been the most informative and organized one I've found! If anything when I asked my doctor she told me to pack light and I think your checklist is perfect ☺
Thank you for sharing this information with us Rachel, really helpful. I won't be having a baby until some years (I'm only 19) but still very thankful with this video you have provided us. Now I'll be 100% ready when the day comes :)
Hi! I've had 3 kiddos and each time I always wish I could've given a thank you something for the nurses that took care of baby and me. A gift basket of goodies would've been nice to go be them since I usually have about 3-4 nurses for the days that we're there. Just an ideas cuz I always kick myself for not doing it and never get a chance to do something afterward since ya know I just had a baby!😜. Good luck to you and your soon to be little one💗🙏🏼
Yes.. I wanted to do this.. I had so many nurses with Oliver though... It seemed like with the shift change I went through so many.. I may have to get several small thank you gifts..
I figured a basket of of goodies (granola bars, mints, lip balm, small lotions, little cute things to put in a purse, etc.) to put out with a general thank you note is always appreciated;)
I could have used this video a year ago lol. Love the basket idea! Thanks for sharing and being real! No one likes to get into how you will feel after so it's refreshing to see you be honest and recommend things that will really help! Congratulations and good luck!
Thank you Rachel! I am coming up on 34 weeks myself. It's nice to see a video like this and it's motivating to see you so on top of things. I appreciate the inspiration and wish you the very best for a smooth delivery and speedy recovery!
This video really helped me as I'm also 35 weeks pregnant and since it's my first baby I was not sure what to pack for the hospital. Now I know what to pack. 😍
Yep! She's right about the bath it's done in a lot of cultures. I'm Mexican and my grandmother talks to us about how her grandmother and mother would prepare baths for her after she gave birth and I believe it's a 40 day rest period
You may want to bring bottled water for the formula! I don't know how your hospital is, but the hospital I work at only has tap water and a lot of parents prefer filtered water for powdered formula. Or you could bring premixed formula to make it easy while you're in the hospital! I'm a postpartum nurse and those are just things I hear from new mamas. Love this video, one of my favorite parts of being pregnant was packing the hospital bag! Good luck and congrats! 😊
you are totally right!! Like I said I do appreciate the video and thank you for all the helpful tips! Congratulations for your beautiful babies and best of luck in the delivery!!
I'm 26 weeks pregnant with my first child (a little boy) and I LOVED this video. It was very informative. I literally took notes so I know what to pack/buy.
THANK YOU FOR THIS! I'm 30 weeks now with my first, and I've started to ask around these last couple days about what I need in my hospital bag and this couldn't have come at a better time! I'm expecting to deliver early like you, at around 36-37 weeks so I want to be prepared!
Now I'm curious how bad of a tear you had with Oliver! I don't remember seeing a delivery video or if you mentioned it. I had a 4th degree tear and my recovery was brutal. I highly recommend soaking pads with witch hazel and freezing them, or putting the medicated pads in the fridge. I would also add colace to that postpartum basket and epsom salt instead of sea salt. Love my belly band but I also only started wearing mine once I got home, but with second baby it was even more helpful than the first time around bc my stomach was significantly looser with second baby. Hoping your delivery goes smoothly!
I think the Dermoplast and squirt bottle are the biggest postpartum essentials! I have four children and I thanked God every day after each delivery for them. LOL Good luck on your labor and delivery! God bless you and your growing family!
Wow great tips! Thanks for being so real about after delivery. I feel like our society doesn't talk about periods or what actually happens to a woman's body after childbirth. Good luck with your labor! Hope it is quick and as painless as possible.
I'm glad you included everything, having a baby isn't always glamours so I'm glad you were honest about the products you use/need! Good luck with everything and I'll be keeping you in my thoughts! :)
Best of luck for your labour and delivery. Thank you for sharing everything here - particularly the basket. I really enjoy your honesty in what to expect afterwards.
Wow, I'm just 7 weeks pregnant and had no idea of what to expect after delivery and I want to say Thank you for the vital information. Also I want to wish you the best on your delivery and your baby to come
I'm TTC right now hoping for a baby and you are probably one of the few people on TH-cam that I will watch a what's in my diaper bag from. Such great content and organization❤️💙 wishing you a quick and healthy delivery!
Dermoplast and Tucks pads are so helpful postpartum. Thanks for sharing your hospital bag and basket! I should try the bath next time. (LOVE the gift idea!) Congrats on getting closer to your due date. Yay! ❤️❤️
Good luck with labor!! This is sooo helpful u are so right the first time u are not prepared for any of the aftermath as much as you try!! These are such good tips and yea it's messy painful and tiring but soooo worth it. The joy and love you experience after having a baby can't compare to anything!
This video was so helpful! A friend of mine is close to having her baby so I think I'm gonna make her a post partum basket. Thanks for the ideas. Hope your delivery goes smooth.
the post partum undies and pads our hospital gave us were life savers. I stole a bunch and low key wish I could wear them every month for my period lol
wow, that took me 5 yrs back when i was preparing my bag, for my second child. Enjoy each minute dear... Because that would be so quick. Lots of love from Mauritius island.
Good luck! For some reason after my second labor, the healing part took a little longer and felt more tired. Maybe it was just my body and the fact that I had to take care of my 5 year old and a newborn.
Reviewing this one again as I pack my bags!!! I'm due on the 16th, thanks again for this video. It's a huge help and I bought the spray and even made padsicles with aloe, witch hazel and lavender! This video was a great guide for my First time pregnancy
The postpartum basket is such a thoughtful idea. Need to remember that one. Did you consider packing cubes for the clothing items? Might make it easier to separate mom/baby stuff. All the best.
I love this video even though I am not expecting. It's nice to know all this information when the day comes. Thanks Rachel, good luck on your delivery!
Aw Rachel, you are so close... yayyyyyy for you and your sweet family!! I'm sending prayers up and out for you. Praying you have a blessed delivery 🙏. I enjoyed your video very much. Be well! XO
This was so informative on what to expect, how awesome! Hope you have a smooth and healthy delivery. Cant wait to meet the little guy and see big brother Oliver in action!
Great video Rachel..loved when you said that labour and child birth is not always glamorous..been there done that..wish you all the best with your delivery..take care..
I have always loved your lifestyle videos and now that I am expecting at 30 weeks I am re-watching your pregnancy videos again. Very helpful and stress relief. Thank you Rachel! If possible can you do a video on skin and hair care products that you been using on your babies? Also detergent and bottles wash products? Really appreciate if you do.
Women are encouraged to take a rest period after birth in many cultures today. Almost all cultures except western Europe and North America. I read about it in a great book called "the first 40 days". A lovely read
I love watching your videos but especially pregnancy one now that I am pregnant myself :) I love the postpartum basket and I am going to look into making the bath herbs for myself but also for my pregnant Freind. Thank you so much for sharing.
+Rachel Talbott Congratulations on baby boy!! seems like you just announced it time just goes so fast... I still remember when you were expecting Oliver ..one thing I'd say is with the amount of paperwork, birth certificate info etc I'd bring a folder to keep it all together and somewhat organized sorry, not trying to tell you what to do ..praying for safe delivery we are all very excited for your new baby to be here ..Oliver will be an amazing big brother
yesss thank you for sharing this! I also had my first daughter at 37 weeks (3 days) and am now 24 weeks with #2. Love how practical this is! And that bag is beautiful :) Wishing you the very best!❤️❤️❤️
Good luck Rachel. Hope all goes well and according to your birth plan. Oh, so glad that's over for me. My baby boy is 9 months now. I didn't pack this much for maternity though and ended up leaving hospital hours after he was born and instead of driving home, I took my newborn and my toddler to the playground for an hour instead 😂 But yes, make sure you stock up on pads because you'll lose a lot of blood. I ended up bleeding for 6 weeks, which is quite long and in hindsight it was probably due to the fact that I tried to do too much too soon (like taking a 2 year old to the playground hours after giving birth).
Hope everything goes well with you and baby.. wish I had these essentials waiting for when I came back from hospital.., I guess next time.. thanks girl.. super helpful tips..
Im ready to pack my hospital bag, but I'm single and not pregnant at all but you make me just want to prepare stuff lol
Rayana Speight 🤣 x
Rayana Speight i love you i swear

Loved this video. I'm going to make the postpartum basket for my sister in law. Congrats on the pregnancy! 💕

Congrats on the 👶, good luck with the delivery 😘😘❤️❤️
I pray your childbirth goes well. Hopefully you will heal soon and we get to meet the new addition to your family! Blessings.
This video really helped me as I'm also 35 weeks pregnant and since it's my first baby I was not sure what to pack for the hospital. Now I know what to pack. 😍
I'm also 36 weeks with my first. Been finding these videos really helpful as a first time mommy to be. Congrats and may you have a smooth delivery!
Yep! She's right about the bath it's done in a lot of cultures. I'm Mexican and my grandmother talks to us about how her grandmother and mother would prepare baths for her after she gave birth and I believe it's a 40 day rest period
The sitz bath & the squirt bottle were a lifesaver for me after delivery. Great video! God bless you & your new little boy!
mysonruns can I ask you what the squirt bottle is used for? Thank you in advance
Maria K I came to the comments to find that out as well.
It helps ease the soreness stitches can cause after an episiotomy. Squirt warm warm warm there and youre a new person!
Didnt mean to write warm 3 times
mysonruns thank you :)
You may want to bring bottled water for the formula! I don't know how your hospital is, but the hospital I work at only has tap water and a lot of parents prefer filtered water for powdered formula. As much as I appreciate this video, it made me very anxious to have a baby. My vagina hurts.
Yeh. It's kinda brutal, but it is 100% worth it.. hence why I'm doing it again.. haha
you are totally right!! Like I said I do appreciate the video and thank you for all the helpful tips! Congratulations for your beautiful babies and best of luck in the delivery!!
Rachel Talbott ,w:3d
cannarde I don't know how some women can go through with a third. How does she have patience to do all that stuff?
I'm 26 weeks pregnant with my first child (a little boy) and I LOVED this video. It was very informative. I literally took notes so I know what to pack/buy.
The Wrights congrats im 37weeks with my second deff recommend to start packing
THANK YOU FOR THIS! I'm 30 weeks now with my first, and I've started to ask around these last couple days about what I need in my hospital bag and this couldn't have come at a better time! I'm expecting to deliver early like you, at around 36-37 weeks so I want to be prepared!
I'm doing my hospital bag video soon and literally never have heard of a better idea than to prepare a postpartum basket! Such a good idea
I'm being induced Wednesday! (39 weeks) so it was wonderful to see what I am missing in my hospital bag. The postpartum basket is a great idea also!
All the best and may everything runs smoothly for you and your family, Rachel. Lots of love xoxox
That bottom spray is a life saver!! So soothing after giving birth. You'll love it. Good luck! ❤️
Thanks for sharing insights on your pregnancy delivery and postpartum!
I wish you a smooth and blessed delivery Rachel 💕💕💕
I think the Dermoplast and squirt bottle are the biggest postpartum essentials! I have four children and I thanked God every day after each delivery for them. LOL Good luck on your labor and delivery! God bless you and your growing family!
Wow great tips! Thanks for being so real about after delivery. I feel like our society doesn't talk about periods or what actually happens to a woman's body after childbirth. Good luck with your labor! Hope it is quick and as painless as possible.

I’m just shy of 30 weeks pregnant now with my first. I really really really appreciate the tips here and will be using them :). Thank you!
Looking lovely Rachel! Hope everything is going well can't wait to see the little bundle of joy.
the post partum undies and pads our hospital gave us were life savers. I stole a bunch and low key wish I could wear them every month for my period lol
wow, that took me 5 yrs back when i was preparing my bag, for my second child. Enjoy each minute dear... Because that would be so quick. Lots of love from Mauritius island.
Best of luck Rachel. I enjoy all of your videos. I never have kids and being mother seem to be very dedicated so much. Respect and take care.
I wish you and a new baby all the luck Rachel! Come back home happy and healthy

God bless you and your family and best of luck at labor and delivery!!! You are a true inspiration !!!

Lifting you up in prayer for a safe delivery and a healthy baby boy!! xoxo
The What's Up Mom's gave that hospital gown to you! I remember the video in case you were wondering ;) Good luck to you with baby number 2!

I'm a first time mom and I'm 30weeks so this video was extremely helpful
this video just made my day!! i knew u were going to post a life update soon, was so happy to see it on my news feed
Good luck Rachel. Hope all goes well and according to your birth plan.
Oh, so glad that's over for me. My baby boy is 9 months now. I didn't pack this much for maternity though and ended up leaving hospital hours after he was born and instead of driving home, I took my newborn and my toddler to the playground for an hour instead 😂
But yes, make sure you stock up on pads because you'll lose a lot of blood. I ended up bleeding for 6 weeks, which is quite long and in hindsight it was probably due to the fact that I tried to do too much too soon (like taking a 2 year old to the playground hours after giving birth).
I have always been very scared of pregnancy, baby, pain, bleeding etc... but your video makes it look comfortable.
Hope everything goes well with you and baby.. wish I had these essentials waiting for when I came back from hospital.., I guess next time.. thanks girl.. super helpful tips..
I am not having a baby but your organization level is very inspiring! Best wishes for the delivery!😍
Good luck Rachel! We can't wait to meet the little guy! ❤️❤️
