In all honesty, you don't know if you can handle the pain until you try it. I had four kids naturally and the pain was never unbearable until it was almost time to push. And the actual birth is always a relief because pushing alleviated the pain of contractions. I encourage all women to at least try for it once. It is the most empowering thing I've ever experienced. That said, you are in charge and it's up to you so if this was a great experience for you, who am I to protest? Congrats to you all!
I found childbirth less painful than a toothache which can make you cry. The pain goes away and somehow you forget about that pain when it's over. It might be the miracle of forgetting but it is definitely an unforgettable experience and well worth it.
You had a great doctor! Six months ago the fools in Labor and Delivery at Kaiser in Santa Clara, Ca sent my daughter home several times for a week after her water broke. After the initial gush, the fluid was just dribbling. The fluid also "didn't test as amniotic". So my daughter collected the fluid in a jar and brought it to her OB-Gyn who determined it WAS amniotic fluid. She was admitted and induced immediately. Luckily there was no infection, and now I have a beautiful healthy granddaughter. Whew! Such a joy. Congratulations on your Oliver!
I had my baby this past November 2014. No epidural. All natural. My first baby , took me 4hours to dilate from 2cm-10cm. No pitocin. And It took me 20min to push and baby was out. 9lbs baby. Before pregnancy I was 97lbs I'm very skinny naturally. And I was 135 when i gave birth.
ugh, this makes me feel better about giving birth a second time. I did it natural..(not because i wanted to... lol) So i was slightly traumatized.. but this made me feel better.... if i can get an epidural.. it will be so much better!!
Congratulations Rachel. Loved listening to your experience. Mine wasn't as nice, but I'm just thankful my baby girl and I are doing great now. It seems like I blinked, and she just turned four years old! Enjoy these precious moments, they fly by!
I'm literally scared to death of child birth... Listening to your story has made me feel a lot better for whenever God blesses me and my fiancé with our future babes! Thanks for this! Makes me feel better for the future! (PS I'm not pregnant but I start thinking of wedding and future huge events! Crazy!!!)
Ill be giving birth in a few weeks and I seriously hope mine goes as smoothly as yours! Ill be doing a labor and delivery story too I just started a channel (:
awe what a precious little boy! I remember every second of it and now my boy is 6 and keeps growing :)))) Watching this I got all baby fever :-)) maybe a girl in my near future as well…awe ! xxo
Rachel, I'm so happy for you and Byron :) your story actually made me tear up a little bit, but they were happy tears!!! Oliver is so lucky to have a mom like you :)
Wow you just reminded me of my own delivery. My water broke at 36 weeks and 3 days. I was so freak out and scared and I just keep telling my husband he's not ready he's not ready but he and the doctor helped me to calm down. I had to be induced and had a 12 hour labor pushing for over 3 hours. Epidural ran off and I started to feel everything, I panic at that moment but the nurse helped me to stay calm and focus. I was getting a little swallow so they had to use the vacuum to get him out. I was exhausted but when I saw him I forgot about the pain and begin tired and as you said my life changed forever in that moment. He is 10 months now and the joy of my life. I thank God every single day for the miracle of his presence. Begin a mom has being the best experience. Enjoy your little angel!!!
I had natural labor with both my kids, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I could never have the epidural...I watched A Baby Story, and the mother was paralyzed for 6 or 9 mo after because of a reaction she had, and its something going in your spinal cord...anything could happen. I was to chicken LOL! And they have been doing births for many many many years without it, and did it just fine...why couldnt I? ANYWAYS I wouldnt have it any other way, that experience just brings you that much closer to your baby in my opinion. But my labors were fast, and when I say fast like 3 hrs with only one push for my son and 3.5 pushes with my daughter. I am happy to hear baby and momma are doing well :) in the end thats all that really matters!
We are so grateful you shared your story with us and I'm happy to hear you had a fairly easy and uneventful delivery. Your son is just precious and I hope you share more of him with us in the future! Have a blessed day!
Thank you!! Everyone sorta prepared me for the worst, and it didn't seem as horrific as what everyone made it out to be.. Every situation is different though.. Thanks for watching! =) xo
Every pregnancy is different, and every labor is different. So yes, sometimes it turns out just fine. However don't dismiss the dangers of labor. All you can do is just try and relax.
Lovely Rachel, to be honest... I watched your video a million time, because I can't get enough from you and little Oliver. I'm loving your face when Your husband steps into the room and you introduced little Oliver. Your face is full of love and proud. It's beautiful!!!!! To see you so happy and healthy!! It looked like you are the happiest person in the world.... Got bless you and like always greetings from Germany
Congrats on your new bundle of joy! I gave birth to my first born 2 months ago. I heard from so many moms that even though you have a plan, some times they never go as planned because things can go wrong. I was constantly being asked what my plan was. Luckily, my plan went even better than I thought. I wanted to do natural all the way and if I can't take it I want epidural. And I was always being put down for wanting the epidural but you never know what's gonna happen. I delivered my baby natural for over 16 hrs and I felt everything! It was the best decision I've ever made. I wasn't dilating so I was induced and was given pitocin. I almost gave up but with the support of my husband and family I was able to get through it. The contractions was a pain! But the pushing was actually less painful and much easier. As soon as that last contraction hit, I knew the head was coming out and I had to push. Right then I started pushing even when the doctor wasn't there. I had to wait 20 minutes for the on call doctor. I push 5-6 times in less than 5 minutes and plopped! My baby was in my arms. I didn't have to push my placenta out. The doctor pulled it out for me. I felt it coming out and the cool part was I got to see my placenta and see where my daughter was living in for 9months inside the womb. It was an amazing experience!
Congratulations Talbotts!! I recently had my third child in December. My older two are 4 and 5 so its been awhile since I've had a little one but it's all coming back to me:) I enjoy hearing about others' labor and delivery stories because truthfully it is such an important time in both mommy, baby, and the family's life:) Congratulations and I offer blessings to you, Little Oliver, Papa Byron and the whole Talbott family. May 2014 be grand for you all♥
Pretty much the same exact birth that I've had, even down to going into premature labor and readmitting baby for jaundice. Except I had a natural birth, didn't allow any interventions to be done to me, and it was a little over 3 hours from feeling absolutely nothing and water breaking in bed, to delivering my daughter. You had a lot of interventions done, especially using vacuum suction to deliver, but you handled it so well! I would have lost my marbles. Good job, mama!
Thanks for sharing your story. I delivered my first child August 16, 2013 and I'm still amazed at this little life. She was on the border of being jaundice as well. They sent us hm with photo therapy and we were able to bring her hm while being treated. I was freaking out bc she was born at 36 weeks and 6 days. But she is awesome and butterball now. Congrats on baby Oliver! Enjoy every moment of him the time truly flies by
Looking fabulous Girl! Great in depth video on your labor and delivery. As it is very interesting to get an idea of others experiences. Congrats to you & your Husband on baby Oliver. Best wished to you both. :)

What a beautiful baby boy! Congratulations to you and Byron! I'm nowhere near ready to have a baby but any worries I have had you have made me feel better. Can't wait to see more videos of your little man :)
Thank you for sharing your story, Rachel. I had exact same birth story, except we both had fever already because of lost waters, and my epidural only numbed my toes ( nobody wanted to believe me when I was swarming in pain ). Our boy was with high bilirubin as well. Congratulations on your new pregnancy!!! You're an amazing mama.
Hi Rach, this video was so perfect, THANK YOU for sharing your experiencie. You look totally wonderful and Oliver is just perfect. Reading the psalm I started crying :) Love from Argentine
I follow you from Paris (France) and i m 1 month and half less pregnant, and love sharing your experience, learning a lot from you. And you get attached to your story from my point vue. Enjoy every moments!
I had was induced with my son. 4 hours from my waters going to him being born. Gas and air (entonox) only. I hate needles and refused any other medication. The contractions were like hell on earth. Worth every minute 💙. Your baby boy is gorgeous x
Rachel, I was born January 3, 1999! Wow. This year was my sweet 16! I don't know anyone with my birthdate. I hope everything goes well for you and your family!

I was subscribed to bryon talbot for 2 years... And now I discover this channel and he has a child... I am now banging my head on the wall by the time you read this
37 to 40 weeks is consider full term. 37 weeks is full term not a preemie.i have twin cousin that were born at 27 weeks. This is according to my doctor. i am 34 weeks right now. My doctor told me that if i go into labor at 37 weeks they wont stop it.
I had water birth with only gas and air helping me cope with the excruciating pain (it was like literally tearing my skin apart). Had a few stitches too! But then, the moment I saw my baby I forgot how painful it was. Lol Giving birth is one of the precious things a woman could ever experience not to mention the first time you hear the baby's heartbeat. :) It's just so surreal! Anyways, sending love from a British-Filipino family. ;)
Aww! He's so cute!!! Congratulations, I hope you and your family will be blessed for great for Byron, yourself, and little Oliver! Good Luck Rachel!!!!!!!!!!

BEST VIDEO ! Love seeing your mom videos! With me and my Hubby pregnant with our first i honestly love following ! So GOD BLESS baby Oliver, and Mommy Rachel and Daddy Byron !
Dear Byron and Rachel, Just wanted to say "Congratulations!" to the both of you. Little Oliver looks like an angel. There is nothing like looking into the face of your little one for the first time. It's a true miracle from the Lord. Rachel........if I may say that you and Byron did ask for people to keep you in their prayers........so its no wonder that your birth went so smoothly. The Lord answered your prayers and ours. I'm very happy for the both of you. Enjoy little Oliver and the joy of being parents for the very first time.
You look beautiful as always! Oliver is a gorgeous little boy. Welcome to motherhood, it is by far the most rewarding and fulfilling experience. Your little family is perfect!
I teared up watching you hold baby Oliver!! I've been watching since the very beginning of your channel & to see you become a mom just warms my heart! Love you bunches! Xoxo
omg I know like five moms who don't nauseate me with their talk of parenting, and all of them are from this generation. some people talk about having a baby like getting a luxury purse.
Rachel! You are sooo beautiful & your little family is so precious! I absolutely loved your Bible verse at the end of the video! Amen, & praise God that you had a smooth delivery & that Oliver is healthy :). I hope you enjoy motherhood & thank you for sharing your story with all of us.
Natural birth right here, but not a lot of extreme pain actualy.. I was so amazed and impressed by the experience that the pain never bothered me. (In the Netherlands it is not as usual to get an epidural)
I tried so hard not to cry!! I sat here watching this video with the biggest smile on my face, congrats on your beautiful new born boy Rachel and Byron!!
First of all congratulations! I hope Oliver stays healthy and happy. Secondly I am German, and I am still baffeled by the amount of women, who are induced, get epidurals or have their kids with the help of c-sections, when there is no medical reason for it. C-sections are a blessing if there is something wrong, but I don't get the planned c-section to spare the mother the birthing pain. In my opinion, the after effects of a natural birth are much milder than that of a c-section. I strongly believe, that most births could be natural births without to much medical intervention, if we would just let them be. I delivered both my kids naturally. With my first born it was a pretty long birth and I got some anti nausea meds, because I threw up everywhere. My second birth was much shorter and much easier. In both cases the actual pushing did only last for a couple minutes, I really think, that an epidural numbs you so much, that that step takes longer, than it has to. I ones teared and once was cut, but it both healed well.
i was induced at 36 weeks 6 days due to preeclampsia. I wasnt too worried because they reassured me that full term was 37 weeks. I ended up having an emergency c section, but my son is now a healthy happy 10 month old. Glad everything went well with you, congrats to you and Byron!
I'm a teen mom I'm 17 and I actually had a natural birth. Didn't last long, got to the hospital and was 7 centimeters dilated. I arrived at 12:30pm and had my baby boy Julian at 3:02pm on August 28, 2014. He weighed 6pounds even. It was painful but it was worth it I wouldn't change a thing
Same here, I just had my first child, a boy as well and I had him completely natural. He was 6.9, I went in 7 cm dilated and was at 9 cm in a half hour after getting to the hospital. I had him on October 10th 2014 and you really do forget about the pain once the doctors put them on you. Although my healing process was painful the whole 2 weeks after cause I didn't have help getting around and I had to go up and down my stairs a lot.
ashleyx21able That's true the pain is worth it at the end. When you have your baby in your arms, nothing else matters. I actually had to go back to school and I wasn't fully healed.
Rachel this was so well said and mature and precious! You spoke so naturally about this and it makes me not so worried about giving birth someday! Congrats! What a beautiful story and family!
Congratulations on the birth of your little angel! The first thing I thought when the video started was how radiant you look! You look absolutely gorgeous! Motherhood suits you! God bless!

agree! i have had 2 completely natural labours and it doesnt hurt half as much as you expect! :)
stephanie sheehan your comment is kind of a relief I hope it'd be the same for me. I'm only 2 months pregnant and so freaking nervous about labour :S
I found childbirth less painful than a toothache which can make you cry. The pain goes away and somehow you forget about that pain when it's over. It might be the miracle of forgetting but it is definitely an unforgettable experience and well worth it.
Luna Gm everyone will tell you how bad it hurts, and yes, it does hurt! but once its over you will know what I mean :)
what if we don't want kids?

Congrats on your new bundle of joy! I gave birth to my first born 2 months ago. Congratulations Talbotts!! I recently had my third child in December. Also i love how honest you are about your entire experience. A lot of people just make it seem like sugar and butterflies no matter what.
In the netherlands nobody gets epidurals unless there is something reaally wrong. It goes all natural :)
its pretty much the same in the UK - same as C-sections!!!
I had was induced with my son. 4 hours from my waters going to him being born. Gas and air (entonox) only. I hate needles and refused any other medication. The contractions were like hell on earth. Worth every minute 💙. Your baby boy is gorgeous x

I am now banging my head on the wall by the time you read this
girl you've got that medical terminology down! You should be a nurse lol (I'm in nursing school)
Knowing the terminology has nothing to do with actually being a nurse, you're in for a big surprise...

Dear Byron and Rachel,
Just wanted to say "Congratulations!" to the both of you.
Congradulations

I ones teared and once was cut, but it both healed well.
everybody is different. it doesnt change anything. Natural birther arent better moms
I cried when Olivers UV pictures went up , he is so adorable! I really hope I have a blessed pregnancy like you! Congratulations :)
you must gave birth?! you seem so happy and calm!
Thank you for this. As a an expecting mother this was comforting to see. Congrats to you and your husband! Your son is precious.
Can u do a baby clothes and haul
i was induced at 36 weeks 6 days due to preeclampsia.
It was painful but it was worth it I wouldn't change a thing
thanks :D
Veronica Alvarado yep life never stops for anything lol now it just flys by
ashleyx21able lol thats true. I never knew that I had to grow up so fast, but things happen
Congratulations Rachel and Byron! Oliver is so adorable. I hope my future labor is as smooth as yours!
wow, every birth story just reaffirms my choice to not have kids lol
That verse always makes me weep like a baby! Congratulations and God bless your family!
Sandra bullock without the strong jaw
Rachel this was so well said and mature and precious! You spoke so naturally about this and it makes me not so worried about giving birth someday! Congrats! What a beautiful story and family!

Oh same here :(
Congratulations on the birth of your little angel! The first thing I thought when the video started was how radiant you look! You look absolutely gorgeous! Motherhood suits you! God bless!
